    Pakistan reports zero Covid death for 5th straight day

    The National Institute of Health (NIH) has claimed that Pakistan has reported zero Covid-19 deaths across the country during the past 24 hours.

    The NIH officials informed that a total of 141 new cases of the viral disease were reported during 27,000 samples were tested during the past 24 hours. The nationwide tally of confirmed cases stands at 1,526,234 while the death toll is 30,361.

    The country’s positivity rate was recorded at 0.52 per cent, the NIH said, adding the number of patients in critical care in various hospitals across the country has fallen to 280.

    It is pertinent to mention here that Pakistan last month announced the withdrawal of all Covid-19 related restrictions.

    Covid positivity rate jumps to 7.5 per cent in Pakistan

    The National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) reported that the Covid-19 positivity rate is currently 7.51 per cent.

    President Dr Arif Alvi urged citizens to “get serious”. “Cases have shot up post-Eid. I was expecting and warning about it as I saw carelessness in [the] streets, bazaars, [and at] weddings and mosques,” he said.

    President Alvi urged Pakistanis to get vaccinated. “Don’t let the recent gains towards stability [be] sacrificed on the alter of neglect. You are a rising nation, so the important test is to rise to the occasion,” he added.

    The number of deaths from coronavirus in the country has risen to 23,048 after 32 more people died in the last 24 hours and the total number of cases has reached 108,446.

    Pakistan’s Covid positivity rate crossed 5 per cent for the first time after nearly two months.

    The current infection rate stands at 5.2 per cent with a continuous spike in the cases.

    National Command and Operation Centre’s (NCOC) data from Thursday shows that 48,910 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours and 2,545 of them came back positive for coronavirus.

    With 47 new fatalities from the virus, the national death tally soared to 22,689.

    NCOC chief Asad Umar warned: “Indian variant has caused devastation in countries in the region.”

    Umar asked everyone to follow the directives necessary in relevance to Covid protocol and said, “Do not risk your own and others lives.”

    Covid positivity rate nearing 4 per cent in Pakistan

    Pakistan’s positivity rate is closing in on 4 per cent, with the current positivity rate at 3.79 per cent.

    Daily coronavirus caseload stayed over 1,500 for the fourth consecutive day after the country reported 1,828 new cases Saturday morning.

    The latest data issued by the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) on Saturday morning shows that 48,134 tests were conducted on July 9, out of which 1,828 people tested positive for coronavirus.

    Federal Minister for Planning Asad Umar Friday said there are clear early signs of the fourth Covid-19 wave starting in Pakistan due to poor compliance of SOPs and the spread of the Delta variant.

    The NCOC chief said that he had warned two weeks back that the government’s artificial intelligence models are showing possible emergence of the fourth wave in July.

    Pakistan reports lowest Covid-19 positivity rate in 2021

    Pakistan has reported the lowest Covid-19 positivity rate so far this year. During the last 24 hours, the positivity rate was recorded as 1.9 per cent.

    According to the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), 54,647 tests were conducted during this period of which 1,043 samples came back positive.

    Earlier this week, for the first time since February 15, Pakistan reported less than 1,000 cases.

    ‘ PakVac’ to be launched as Covid positivity rate at its lowest

    Pakistan’s locally-made coronavirus vaccine PakVac will be launched today (Tuesday).

    The launching ceremony will be attended by Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Health, Dr Faisal Sultan, and other officials of the National Institue of Health (NIH). After the formal launch, the PakVac will be handed over to the Expanded Programme on Immunisation (EPI) Pakistan, as reported by ARY News.

    Pakistan’s coronavirus positivity rate during the last 24 hours was 3.72 per cent, the lowest it has been since March 3.

    The number of cases dropped after the government increased the pace of the national vaccination drive. According to National Command and Operations Centre (NCOC) head Asad Umar, so far more than seven million Pakistanis have been inoculated.

    All Pakistanis above the age of 18 can now get vaccinated from June 3. They have to message their CNICs to 1166.

    During the last 24 hours, the country reported 1,771 new cases and 71 deaths.

    The National Command and Operations Centre (NCOC) announced on Monday that the highest COVID-19 occurrence has been recorded in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s city of Abbottabad and the city of lights Karachi for the month of December. 

    The positivity rate is obtained by dividing the number of people who test positive for the coronavirus with the total number of tests conducted in 24 hours.

    As per reports, Abbottabad’s positivity rate on Sunday was 25.5% and Karachi has been reporting positivity rate of above 12% in the last 10 days.

    The NCOC said the national positivity rate, however, has decreased in the past few days. The month’s highest coronavirus ratio was recorded at 9.71% on December 6 while the number stood at 6.13% on Sunday.

    The country has reported 1,974 cases in the past 24 hours while 55 people lost their lives and 1,760 recovered. Pakistan has reported 473,309 cases so far.

    Pakistan has reported 1,792 COVID-19 cases for December 20. This is the lowest daily tally of cases since Nov 9 when the country reported 1,637 cases.

    As per reports, 62 people lost their lives from the virus in the same time period, down from 80 a day earlier.

    The positivity rate has also gone down to 5% for the first time since November 10.

    Pakistan on Tuesday recorded 4.94% COVID-19 positivity rate – highest in three months.  But what does this positivity rate mean?

    The positivity rate is obtained by dividing the number of people who test positive for the coronavirus with the total number of tests conducted in 24 hours. With that we can determine how many people being tested are actually positive for the virus. This is perhaps, the most important indicator of how the virus is spreading.

    According to the details issued by the National Command and Operations Centre (NCOC), 1,313 new cases were reported across the country.   A total of 26,565 tests were conducted. Pakistan has reported 337,573 COVID-19 cases so far.

    The country’s death toll stands at more than 6,800 as 18 people lost their lives in the past 24 hours. At least 316,060 have recovered from the virus so far. 

    The country’s positivity rate dropped to less than 2%, a few months ago, which was a great sign but it started increasing last month and now it is around 5%. The highest positivity rate was 23% in July and the minimum was reported at 1.7% in September.

    Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on Health Dr Faisal Sultan officially announced that the second wave of the virus has started in the country.

    Meanwhile, the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) has tightened restrictions on some high-risk public activities to control the coronavirus spread.

    NCOC has also launched a helpline to report the COVID-19 related violations by the public.
