What did Harry and Meghan have to say about Kate’s cancer diagnosis?

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have released a statement after Princess of Wales Kate Middleton announced she is receiving treatment for cancer.

“We wish health and healing for Kate and the family, and hope they are able to do so privately and in peace,” the warring couple said in a statement.

Both the couples were last seen together for a surprise walkabout in Windsor following the death of Queen Elizabeth in September 2022.

Before the Princess of Wales shared the latest news about her health, PEOPLE was told by a family source that Prince Harry and Meghan were in the dark about Kate’s abdominal surgery and recovery.

“They are aware of everything that goes on back in England, but are being left out of any details regarding Kate,” the source told PEOPLE. “There is clearly no trust.”

In a video, Kate requested “privacy and space” as she and Prince William are trying to make it through this “tough time.”

“This of course came as a huge shock and William and I have been doing everything we can to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family,” she said.

  • UK Judge Rules Prince Harry Was Victim Of Phone Hacking By Mirror Group

A UK judge ruled on Friday that Prince Harry was a victim of phone hacking by journalists working for Mirror Group Newspapers (MGN), and awarded the royal £140,600 ($179,600) in damages.

The decision is one in a number of legal cases brought by Harry against British media, with which the Duke of Sussex has long had a turbulent relationship. High Court Justice Timothy Fancourt ruled in favour of Harry in 15 of the 33 sample articles that the prince submitted as evidence in his lawsuit against MGN, which publishes the Mirror, Sunday Mirror and Sunday People.

He concluded that the newspapers carried out “extensive” phone hacking of celebrities between 2006 and 2011, even when a public inquiry into the conduct of the British press was ongoing.

Fancourt said Harry´s personal phone had been targeted between 2003 and 2009 and that the 15 articles were “the product of phone hacking… or the product of other unlawful information gathering”.

“I consider that his phone was only hacked to a modest extent, and that this was probably carefully controlled by certain people at each newspaper,” Fancourt said.

Prince Harry said in a statement read outside court by his lawyer that the ruling was “vindicating and affirming”. A spokesperson for MGN said: “Where historical wrongdoing took place, we apologise unreservedly, have taken full responsibility and paid appropriate compensation.”

Harry, the younger son of King Charles III, became the first British royal in over a century to take to the witness stand when he gave evidence in the trial.

The last time a royal had given evidence in court was in the 1890s, when the future king Edward VII took the stand in a slander trial. Harry, 39, accused MGN of “industrial scale” phone hacking during emotional testimony in which he relived upsetting episodes of his life.

The prince argued he had been the victim of relentless and distressing media intrusion virtually his entire life. Harry holds the media responsible for the death of his mother, Princess Diana, in a 1997 Paris car crash while she was being pursued by paparazzi.

He stood down from royal duties in early 2020 for a life in California with his American wife Meghan, in part for privacy reasons. The prince and several other claimants alleged the MGN titles engaged in “illegal information gathering”, including intercepting phone voice mails, to write dozens of stories about him.

The Duke of Sussex has launched legal action against several tabloid media groups, alongside barrages of attacks aimed at his family and the monarchy. “I´ve been told that slaying dragons will get you burned,” he said in his statement.

  • Royal Family didn’t want Meghan Markle to say this during ‘Suits’ shoot

Just like a desi susral, the Royal Family had to step in to look over some aspects of Meghan’s professional life.

According to the show creator Aaron Kosh, the royal family weighed in on some of the dialogues in the show and even omitted one.

“Not many things, by the way, but a few things that we wanted to do and couldn’t do, and it was a little irritating”, recalled Kosh.

The particular word that was scrubbed from the show was ‘poppy cock’ and the reason is astounding:

“My wife’s family, when they have a topic to discuss that might be sensitive, they use the word, ‘poppycock,’” Aaron explained. “Let’s say you wanted to do something that you knew your husband didn’t want to do, but you wanted to at least discuss it, and in just discussing it, you wouldn’t hold him to anything he said, you’d be like, ‘It’s poppycock.’ So, in the episode, Mike and Rachel were going to have a thing, and as a nod to my in-laws, we were going to have her say, ‘My family would say poppycock.’”

But Aaron explained the Royal Family didn’t want the future Duchess Of Sussex to say this, in fear of someone editing the clip and using the term ‘cock’ so they completely removed it.

“They didn’t want to put the word ‘poppycock’ in her mouth. I presume because they didn’t want people cutting things together of her saying ‘cock.’ So, we had to change it to ‘b*‘ instead of ‘poppycock,’ and I did not like it because I’d told my in-laws that [poppycock] was going to be in the show. There was maybe one or two more things, but I can’t remember.”

But here’s the shocking part: Aaron was not the one who gave his scripts to the Royals, and he doesn’t know who did either.

“I was aware that they were reading them because I got the feedback, but I don’t remember the process by which they got them.”

  • Prince William not ready to reconcile with brother Prince Harry, despite Kate Middleton’s efforts

Prince William not ready to reconcile with brother Prince Harry, despite Kate Middleton’s efforts

Since Prince Harry made public his feud with brother Prince William and his wife Princess Kate over what he said was their reluctance to accept Meghan Markle, reports reveal that the two brothers are no longer on speaking terms with each other. However, it seems like Princess Kate has been doing her best behind the scenes to ensure that the two brothers can resolve their differences and become good friends like they were before.

Royal author Robert Jobson revealed to The Express that King Charles III is desperate to meet his grand children, and Kate has been making her best efforts to ensure that the situation is ressolved:

“I’m not sure how much dialogue there is with William and Harry, at the moment, I think the only person that is helping the situation is Catherine, who is doing a brilliant job. First of all when the king wants to see his grandchildren, for example, it’s important to say that a lot of it has been through Catherine. But William and Harry, it’s a difficult one. I think as brothers they are more likely to get on the phone and have a conversation.”

    Jobson added:

“It’s quite possible that one of them might pick up the phone to have a rant, but who’s gonna pick up the phone on the other end? Because that’s not gonna achieve anything. There’s also a lot of lack of trust. At the moment between all the members of the family and Harry about where this information is going, because a lot of stuff has appeared in print by him.”

The two brothers have reportedly zero communication with one another, a report by The Express claims. A few days ago the royal family website removed Prince Harry’s titles from their website, proving that Harry was no longer invited to the royal inner circle.

Jobson saif that Harry had made enemies with Queen Camilla, and that King Charles III was allowing the ‘dust to settle’:

“There is zero communication between father and second son, he has made enemies of William and Camilla, even Catherine. If Harry was in any doubt he was out, that website update has left him in no doubt. The move to strip them – or technically not allow usage of – the Sussex title was right. It wasn’t vindictive, just clear, proper ands right – if a little slow, but that’s the palace for you and all this ‘new fangled technology’.”

  • Mockery of Princess Kate in ‘Citadel’, ‘The Little Mermaid’ enrages Twitter

Recently, a few clips from ‘Citadel’ and ‘The Little Mermaid’ which appear to be making crude jokes about Princess Kate Middleton, have surfaced on Twitter and enraged users who have assumed that Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, is the mastermind behind them.

In ‘Citadel’, which stars Priyanka Chopra, a friend of Markle’s, a sexist joke was made about Middleton. In a scene from the third episode, a line says, “The chief of armed forces? You might as well have asked me how to get between the legs of the Duchess of Cambridge!”

Middleton was formerly recognized as the Duchess of Cambridge, before her role was elevated after the death of Queen Elizabeth.

According to Page Six, Priyanka Chopra, who is the main lead on the show, was present on set when this line was delivered, and was reportedly aware of it.

Chopra and Markle were close friends before the Duchess’ marriage to Prince Harry, and Chopra attended their wedding in the UK, later writing a gushing note about her.

In ‘The Little Mermaid’ a scene has been interpreted by fans as a dig at Middleton.

In this scene, as Page Six reported, Prince Eric and Ariel meet after she sacrifices her voice to come on land. Eric is trying to guess what is her name, and his first guess is Diana, then Catharine. To which Arial makes a disgusted reaction to which Eric responds “OK, definitely not Catherine.”

Since these two clips went viral on social media, fans have criticised Chopra’s actions as classless and slammed the makers behind ‘Citadel’ for allowing such a tasteless and sexist joke.

  • Prince Harry, Meghan Markle in ‘near catastrophic car chase’ in New York

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were in a “near catastrophic car chase at the hands of a ring of highly aggressive paparazzi” after attending an event in New York, their representatives have said.

According to People magazine, the spokesperson for the royals revealed that it was the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, and Markle’s mother Doria, were being driven back to a friend’s private residence, where they staying during their visit to New York. Along the way, a dozen cars began chasing after them, running over red lights, and trying to take photographs of the couple and Doria in the car.

“Last night, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex and Ms. Ragland were involved in a near catastrophic car chase at the hands of a ring of highly aggressive paparazzi. This relentless pursuit, lasting over two hours, resulted in multiple near collisions involving other drivers on the road, pedestrians and two NYPD officers. While being a public figure comes with a level of interest from the public, it should never come at the cost of anyone’s safety.”

The two were in New York to attend the Ms. Foundation 2023 Women of Vision Awards: Celebrating Generations of Progress and Power at the Zeigfield Ballroom in Manhattan. Markle had been honoured as this year’s Women of Vision Award.

Prince Harry’s mother, the late Lady Diana, passed away in a car crash in 1997 in Paris, when paparazi were relentlessly chasing after her car.

In a mental health documentary ‘The Me You Can’t See’ , Harry spoke about how trauma from watching his mother’s death is the reason why he chose to step back from his royal role, to prevent his wife Meghan from going down the same path:

“My mother was chased to her death when she was in a relationship with someone who wasn’t white, and now look what’s happened. You’re talking about history repeating itself? They’re not going to stop until she dies.”

It’s incredibly triggering to potentially lose another woman in my life,” Prince Harry added about Meghan.

  • Kate Middleton’s fingers break Royal Family tradition during Easter

Kate Middleton’s fingers break Royal Family tradition during Easter

The Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton, is well known for her strict adherence to royal customs while making public appearances for the Crown. However, during an Easter outing on Monday, the 41- years-old duchess stunned on-lookers by choosing to wear red nail polish, instead of a neutral color.

The event was the first time Middleton and her husband Prince William had made their appearance as the newly-inaugurated Prince and Princess of Wales, a title previously held by Prince Charles, who is now the King after the demise of Elizabeth II. The couple were joined by their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.

Rules about dressing and appearance etiquette are extremely strict which members of the Royal Family must adhere to at all times. Women resist from wearing bright nail polish and can only stick to neutral shades when attending public events.

The late Queen wore bright colours in public in order to stand out from the crowd. Tiaras can only be worn by married women in the Royal Family, not single women or children.

The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle had drawn backlash in 2018, when she attended the Fashion Awards, where she was spotted flaunting a black manicure, which broke royal protocol.

  • Chris Rock sparks controversy after comments about Meghan Markle, Will Smith in Netflix special

Chris Rock has sparked outrage on social media after making controversial comments about fellow actor Will Smith and his wife Jada Pinket Smith, as well as the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle.

Will Smith got universally slammed last year after hitting Rock the Oscars after the comedian cracked a joke about his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith’s, baldness.

“Jada, I love you. G.I Jane 2, can’t wait to see it, all right?” said Rock.

Smith went on stage, slapped Rock and bellowed “Keep my wife’s name out of your f***ing mouth!”

At the Netflix special, Rock addressed the controversy for the first time:

“Y’all know what happened to me, getting smacked by Shug Smith. Everybody knows. Everybody f*ing knows. Yes. It happened: Like a year ago, I got smacked at the fing Oscars by this motherf*ker.”

Rock then said he saw Smith’s new film ‘Emancipation’ to watch him getting beaten up. Smith plays a former slave who fights to seek his freedom:

“I loved Will Smith, my whole life I loved him. I saw him open for Run DMC … he has made some great movies. I have rooted for Will Smith my whole life. And now I watch Emancipation just to see him get whooped.”

This comment has sparked outrage on Twitter, as users called Rock insensitive for mocking a film about slavery

Rock also didn’t hold back from trolling about Pinkett-Smith’s affair with rapper August Alsina, which she had confessed to at the Red Table Talk:

“Will Smith practices selective outrage. Everybody knows what the fk happened. And everybody really knows I had nothing to do with that shit. I didn’t have any ‘entanglements’…His wife was fking his son’s friend, OK? I normally would not talk about this shit, but for some reason … [they] put that shit on the internet. I have no idea why two talented people would do something that lowdown. What the fk?”

Rock also talked about Meghan Markle and the interview with Oprah where she had opened up about experiencing racism when she had married Prince Harry and became the Duchess of Sussex:

“It’s the royal family! You didn’t Google these motherfers? What the fk is she talking about, ‘she didn’t know’? They’re the original racists. They invented colonialism. They’re the OGs of racism. They’re the Sugar Hill Gang of racism.”

  • Royal family skips invitation to Harry, Meghan’s daughter’s christening

Royal family skips invitation to Harry, Meghan’s daughter’s christening

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s daughter Lilibet has been christened last Friday in an intimate gathering of around 20 to 30 guests. However, none of Harry’s royal family were present, despite being invited.

A spokesperson for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex confirmed that Lilibet Diana was christened last week on Friday by the Archbishop of Los Angeles, Reverend John Taylor.

Among the attendees were Markle’s mother, Doria Ragland, Lilibet’s godfather, Tyler Perry, and another unnamed godmother.

Since the release of Prince Harry’s controversial biography ‘Spare’, there have been extensive reports of the divide between the younger son of King Charles and royal family members, who had also recently asked Harry and Meghan to leave Frogmore Cottage, where the family had stayed during their trips to Britain.

British media has reported that the King will offer them an apartment at Buckingham Palace instead.

When contacted by media outlets, the Palace did not comment on “personal invitations” as is routine.

Harry and Meghan were officially invited to King Charles’ coronation, scheduled to take place in May. The Duke and Duchess are yet to confirm if they will attend what is perhaps the most important day in Charles life.

  • Harry and Meghan told to vacate their ‘Spare’ British home

Harry and Meghan told to vacate their ‘Spare’ British home

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, have been asked to vacate their British home, Frogmore Cottage, where they were allowed to live by the late Queen Elizabeth.

“We can confirm The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been requested to vacate their residence at Frogmore Cottage,” a spokesman for the couple revealed in an email to The Washington Post.

The reason behind this decision has not been revealed, however it has come only a few weeks before King Charles’s coronation in May.

Media reports have said that the cottage is now being offered to Prince Andrew, who had been living on a larger property in Windsor grounds. However, Buckingham Palace has not confirmed this yet.

Harry and Meghan had shifted to Frogmore Cottage in 2018 after their wedding. In 2020 when they stepped down from their royal duties, the couple moved to California but the cottage remained their home during their trips to Britain. They have time till May to empty the home.

King Charles has long been a proponent of slimming down the monarchy and reducing its expenses. Prince Andrew, who was living at the 30-room Royal Lodge in Windsor, has reportedly also been told that the monarchy will not pay for the upkeep of the residence.
