‘All cricketers are like brothers to me’: Nazish Jahangir responds to supposed Babar Azam proposal

Actress Nazish Jahangir landed herself in an unintended hot mess when she was asked on Instagram about a possible marriage to Babar Azam. She was asked that if the top-order batsman proposed to her what would she do. She said she wouldn’t want to marry Azam.

After receiving criticism from the cricket player’s devoted fanbase on social media, the ‘Berukhi’ actor explained in the following statement, “Babar bhai hum sab k bhai hain but un k fans MA dil khol k negativity phila rahy hain’ (Babar is like a brother to us but his fans are spreading this negativity). I have nothing to do with cricketers, all are bros to me tbh [to be honest],” she added.

“I have no problem with cricketers, and I don’t make any comments or judgments about them, so please keep your negativity to yourself,” she wrote on her Instagram account.

The recent controversy came up a few days after Jahangir stated that she wouldn’t marry anyone from the entertainment industry. She emphasised that she would prefer from someone from outside Pakistan. She mentioned, “I’ve never really thought about it, but if I have the choice, I’d like to settle abroad after marriage, whether it’s in the USA, Dubai, Canada, or even London.”

  • Get rid of Chairman Senate, we will topple Buzdar govt: PML-N tells PPP

Get rid of Chairman Senate, we will topple Buzdar govt: PML-N tells PPP

The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) says it is ready to support a no-confidence motion to overthrow the government provided the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) comes up with a workable proposal.

“We’re ready to support the PPP’s idea for dislodging the PTI government through a no-confidence motion but it should put forward a workable proposal for this purpose,” said PML-N secretary general Ahsan Iqbal, reported Dawn.

If PPP brought a successful no-trust motion against the Senate chairman, then the PML-N would follow suit by moving a no-confidence motion in the Punjab Assembly, where the PPP has only six seats, said Iqbal.

Iqbal said the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) chairman was “dancing to the tune of the government” because the latter had some (objectionable) video clips of the NAB chief.

He challenged the NAB chairman to ask retired general Asim Saleem Bajwa as to how he had gathered assets worth millions of dollars through his salary.

Regarding Prime Minister Imran Khan’s image of “Mr Clean”, the PML-N leader said he was living in a one kanal rented house and was paying more income tax than the premier who lives in a 300-plus kanal palace.

Iqbal asked PTI supporters to explain this oddity to the masses.

  • Govt rejects proposal to extend NAB chairman’s tenure

Govt rejects proposal to extend NAB chairman’s tenure

The Law Ministry has rejected a proposal by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to extend the tenure of its chairperson Justice (r) Javed Iqbal, deputy chairperson and prosecutor general.

According to reports, the anti-graft watchdog had suggested the Law Ministry that the NAB Ordinance be amended to extend the tenure of the three officials.

Rejecting the proposal, the Law Ministry said that the tenure of the said posts was in line with the tenure of other autonomous bodies and that NAB could not provide clear reasons for an extension.

Justice (r) Javed Iqbal is the incumbent chairman of NAB.

    NAB CHIEF HEARS PEOPLE OUT:

Separately, Justice (r) Iqbal last Thursday listened to complaints of the people about housing societies after they turned up at NAB headquarters from across the country to directly register their complaints to the chairman.

According to a statement, he patiently listened to complaints against various housing societies and directed the bureau officers concerned to address the same on priority basis.

It merits mentioning here that Justice (r) Iqbal after assuming the coveted responsibilities in October 2017 decided to himself listen to the complaints on the last Thursday of every month.

He had also directed director generals of all bureaus to ensure listening to the complaints of the aggrieved persons personally.

Justice (r) Iqbal’s retirement is due next year.
