    Former National Assembly member and television host Dr. Aamir Liaquat took to his Instagram handle to lash out at former PM Imran Khan.

    The Aalim Online host has held Imran responsible for his recent split with wife Dania Shah.

    He also accused Imran of paying Dania so that she seeks divorce from him. Aamir went on to predict Imran’s divorce, and predicted that Bushra Bibi will leave him.

    Earlier this month he reacted to the speculation about his potential marriage with journalist and former PM Imran Khan’s ex-wife Reham Khan.

    The Neelam Ghar host reacted to a netizen’s tweet that if he and Reham actually get married then they’ll have a son like Atta Tarar.

    Aamir replied that the answer will soon come from the skies. He also took a jibe at PTI by saying that there is justice on the skies and not Tehreek-e-Insaaf.

    The veteran host stated recently stated that sources from FIA have informed him that PTI’s social media team is behind his character assassination on social media to make Imran Khan happy as he was upset with Liaquat for ditching PTI at a crucial stage.

    Aamir also dragged Fawad Chaudhry’s name in the matter and stated that he overlooks the social media department.

    Prior to his seperation with Dania Shah, he published a video message against Khan.

    Last month the Aalim Online star posted a series of video in which he expressed his anger on PTI Chairman Imran Khan’s statement in which he called out politicians who left his political party.

    Aamir said that he is not a traitor, instead former PM Imran Khan is the traitor according to him. The veteran host also slammed PM Khan for dissolving the assembly.

    He posted another video with some aggressive remarks against his opponents.

    ‘I am not one of those who blackmails for chief ministership with five seats in hand’: Sheikh Rasheed

    Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed has categorically said that he is standing like a “rock” with Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan amidst the political chaos.

    Commenting on the politics of Punjab, Rasheed said, “I am not one of those who blackmail for chief ministership with five seats in hand.”

    A reporter questioned Rasheed if he was hinting at former Chief Minister (CM) Balochistan Jam Kamal Khan.

    “I am talking about the politics of Punjab. Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) is standing with Imran Khan,” said Sheikh Rasheed during a press conference in Quetta.

    Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) leader Chaudhry Moonis Elahi hit back at Rasheed, alleging that he “used to take money from the party’s elders during his student life”.

    The PML-Q has asked the prime minister to announce Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi as the replacement of Chief Minister Usman Buzdar before calling the session of the National Assembly to take up the Opposition’s no-trust motion. The demand is despite the party holding just five seats in the lower house, reports Dawn.

    “The PML-Q leadership has conveyed to the prime minister to announce Punjab Assembly Speaker Pervaiz Elahi as the Punjab chief minister forthwith as this will help save the PTI government in Punjab in the face of ‘rebellion’ by the [Jahangir] Tareen group.”

    “Also the PML-Q will announce its open support for the premier and use its clout to scuttle the opposition’s move in the Centre,” reported the news outlet.

    Police arrests father who murdered seven-day-old daughter

    The Punjab Police has arrested the alleged murderer, Shahzaib Khan who killed his newborn daughter in Mianwali on Sunday because he wanted a son.

    The police confirmed the arrest on their official Twitter on March 10 by posting Shahzaib Khan’s image.

    The newborn girl, Jannat was murdered by her father on Sunday in Mianwali. He shot her four times and was taken immediately to a hospital but unfortunately, was pronounced dead.

    Punjab Chief Minister (CM), Usman Buzdar, and Punjab Inspector General (IG) of Police, Rao Sardar Ali Khan, took notice of the incident.

    Former Punjab CM, Shehbaz Sharif also tweeted after police arrested the accused.

    “I am unable to process the mind-numbing incident of the killing of a baby girl. Utterly grotesque and barbaric. How could a father do this to his own child? Wish we could learn how our beloved Prophet (PBUH) treated his daughter & women in general” he wrote.

    Spokesperson of Mianwali police, Zarrar Khan said, “The police were told by the complainants that the killer had been complaining for three or four days that he had wanted a son and he had been very angry.”

    The First Investigation Report (FIR) was filed in a police station by Shahzaib Khan’s cousin, Hidayatullah.

    Chief Minister (CM) Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar on Sunday arrived in Murree to review the rescue operation in the area after at least 22 people died in their snow-trapped cars.

    The CM’s visit received a lot of criticism as he did an ‘aerial survey’ of Murree. CM Buzdar arrived in his helicopter and overlooked the snow-covered area.

    Journalist Sumaira Khan took to Twitter and shared a video where CM Buzdar can be seen travelling in the helicopter and overlooking Murree.

    Punjab Govt to buy 46 new cars for ministers

    The Punjab government has issued a formal order for the purchase of 46 new cars for provincial ministers and will make an advance payment to a car manufacturer in this regard. The Cabinet Committee has approved payment for purchasing news cars.

    The Services and General Administration Department (S&GAD) has issued a final order in this regard. According to reports, the provincial government has released a total of Rs 210 million for the purchase of vehicles. The existing vehicles will be preserved in the transportation pool.

    Punjab Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) Sunday said that the PTI government the provincial government’s spending have been drastically decreased, under the leadership of Chief Minister (CM) Usman Buzdar.

  • Punjab govt initiates process to unban TLP

    The Punjab government has initiated the process to unban Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP).

    Punjab Home Department sent a summary for the revocation of the TLP ban to Chief Minister (CM) Punjab Usman Buzdar and his cabinet.

    The notification by the Home Department requested the provincial government to respond in three days.

    After the likely approval from CM Buzdar and the provincial cabinet, the federal government will be moved to do away with TLP’s banned status, said the Home Department.

    Earlier today, Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed said that the chief of TLP, Saad Hussain Rizvi, had insisted on the closure of the French embassy in the country and asked that this issue is brought in the National Assembly, reports Dawn.

    Moreover, the minister said, “I have made signatures on the previous agreement and I am steadfast on this. As for the rest of the problems, two ministers have been appointed and they will answer your queries.”

    The Punjab government also decided to release 100 more activists of the proscribed organisation from different jails in the province. Previously 2,000 jailed activists of the banned organisation were released.

    Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Ali Muhammad Khan hinted at the release of Saad Rizvi and said that the state cannot afford to ban a party that has a 2.5 million vote bank in Punjab.

    Senior journalist Najam Sethi has claimed that Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa recently “summoned” six cabinet ministers of the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and put forth three topics for “some plain talking”.

    While the veteran journalist did not name the ministers, according to him, the PTI government’s “abysmal performance” was discussed as what was hurting the image of the military and other bigwigs.

    Sethi claimed that removal of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) chief ministers (CMs), and the need for the federal government to constitute a more efficient and credible team “at least for putting the economy on track”, was also discussed.

    “Time’s running out, he implied darkly,” the journalist claimed in his The Friday Times editorial.

    “As a consequence of such ‘advice’, Imran Khan has blithely sacked Nadeem Babar and Hafeez Shaikh, even though he was lauding their singular expertise not so long ago. Indeed, he had pitched Mr Shaikh to the Senate so that he could continue as full-fledged minister of finance.”

    He further wrote, “Some more chopping and changing is on the cards. But given Imran Khan’s track record of picking his political teammates, we shouldn’t expect any qualitative improvement in performance.”

    Sethi also opined that change in Punjab, in particular, “would be a hard bone to swallow”.

  • Punjab government to reimpose COVID restrictions to curb virus spread

    Amid a drastic increase in COVID-19 cases in Punjab, Chief Minister Usman Buzdar has announced that Covid-related restrictions will be reimposed in the province.

    “Coronavirus, especially the UK- variant is spreading alarmingly in some cities of Punjab,” stated the Punjab CM, adding that strict SOP’s will be implemented in regions where positivity rate is more than 5 percent, for the next 15 days, starting from Saturday night.

    According to the notification, indoor weddings and dining will be banned in those regions, whereas educational institutes, parks, shrines will be closed in areas with high positivity rate. In addition to that, markets will close at 6pm.

    CM Buzdar further added that a detailed notification in this regard will be issued by health department later.

    Buzdar added that he has advised the health department to speed up the process of vaccination for old age citizens.

    The notification was issued after CM Buzdar chaired the meeting of the cabinet committee for the eradication of corona and expressed concern over the increase in the number of patients in Lahore and other districts, reported APP.

    Driving skills of the provincial chief executive of Punjab, Sardar Usman Buzdar, on the track of Cholistan Desert Jeep Rally’s 16th edition have taken the internet by storm.

    The Cholistan rally started back in 2005 and has since progressed by leaps and bounds. The incumbent Punjab chief minister (CM) has shared plans to make it an international event.

    This year, the event was held from February 11 to 14 with the participation of over 100 racers from all over Pakistan in different categories.

    The rally route was extended to 500 kilometres and also included major forts of the desert, namely Dingarh, Marrot, Khan Garh, Bhijnot, Moujgarh and Jamgarh.

    It was won by Sahibzada Sultan while Mir Nadir Magsi and Jaffar Imran secured the second and third positions, respectively.

  • CM Buzdar tests positive for COVID-19 two days after attending high profile wedding

    Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Usman Buzdar on Monday tested positive for COVID-19, sources in the CM House confirmed to The Current two days after the provincial chief executive attended a high profile wedding in Lahore.

    “The CM was tested for coronavirus after after he complained of symptoms,” a CM House official said.

    “The chief minister had quarantined himself after feeling sick on Sunday,” the official version maintained.

    Over the weekend, Buzdar was spotted at a high profile event held to mark the baraat of former Punjab governor Muhammad Latif Khosa’s daughter Sehr Khosa.

    Among other guests at the two-day wedding ceremony were Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Gulzar Ahmed, Governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairperson Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, former CJP Asif Saeed Khosa and ex-prime minister (PM) Yousaf Raza Gillani.

    Ex-CJP Saqib Nisar also reportedly attended the event.
