    Pakistani director Parmesh Adiwal embraces Islam

    Renowned Pakistani director Parmesh Adiwal recently embraced Islam. Previously belonging to the country’s Hindu community, Adiwal has directed popular projects such as Punjab Nahi Jaungi and Ishrat Made In China, where he served as the co-director.

    But his talent doesn’t stop there! He’s also directed music videos, including the OST of the drama serial Masters, and worked with amazing artists like Amjad Sabri, Maya Khan, Sarah Khan, and Urwa Hocane. Not to mention his iconic TV commercials.

    The ace director shared photos from his Umrah experience on Instagram, where friends and colleagues like Feroze Khan and Humayun Alamgir offered support. Parmesh Adiwal’s Muslim name is Muhammad. His friend has shared a picture of the director from Khana Kaaba.

    Urwa Hocane speaks out after being labelled as ‘difficult to work with’ by director Nadeem Baig

    Nadeem Baig made national headlines when, on talk show ‘The Fourth Umpire’, he was asked which actress was the most difficult to work with on set, and he revealed it was Urwa Hocane.

    Hocane and Baig was worked together in ‘Punjab Nahi Jaungi’ in 2017.

    Now, Hocane has responded in a post on Friday where she addressed the allegation that she was ‘difficult’ by revealing her side of the story:

    “Nadeem bhai and I have only done one project together and had one difference of opinion about the song ‘Lak Hilna’ where we eventually went with his aesthetics, choice of song and dance step as I sensed he was unwilling to hold a discussion probably because as a society we have become so intolerant to difference of opinion, specially when it’s a woman.”

    Hocane revealed that despite being trolled heavily for the past few days since Baig’s comment on the show, she had never thrown him under the bus out of respect for him.

    “Despite being extremely trolled for the song I never threw my director under the bus out of respect for him. I am so hurt with how my personality is being misrepresented publicly merely for holding a healthy discussion on set which I believe is a basis to team work while in all these years it was never pointed out to me in person.”

    On being asked about the reason for headlining the biopic of a serial killer, the Jhooti star said, “Someone asked me what would be the message of this film? What’s the purpose of it? I want to know what kind of message does Jawani Phir Nahi Ani, Punjab Nahi Jaungi or such films really give out?”

    The Baandhi actor’s statement was shared on different social media portals and it offended Vasay Chaudary who is a writer of the blockbuster film Jawani Phir Nahi Ani.

    Vasay shared Yasir’s statement on his Instagram stories and said, “Besides providing quality Family entertainment, these films played a vital role in the growth and resurfacing of Pakistani Box Office so that films like Lahore Se Agay could also run in cinemas #dontgetcarriedawaybysocialmedia.”

    Government selects five Pakistani movies for a screening in China

    As part of the celebratory activities of 70 years of Pakistan-China diplomatic ties, five movies from Pakistan will be screened during a first-ever Pakistan Film Week starting from Wednesday, August 4.

    According to details, Pakistan Embassy, Beijing and China-Film Administration have jointly organized the four-day film week to further enhance cultural exchanges between the two countries.

    The premier of Sohai Ali Abro’s Motorcycle Girl will be held on August 4, with Chinese and English subtitles. Other films included in the list are Humayun Saeed’s blockbusters Punjab Nahi Jaungi and Bin Roye.

    Mahira Khan’s Ho Maan Jahan and Mathira’s Blind Love will also be screened in the following days.

    In November 2020, Parwaaz Hai Junoon became the first Pakistan film to hit the cinemas in China. The movie received the round of applause from around 400 people including officials of the Chinese government.

    Iman Aly has vowed not to work with writer Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar. She shared her decision in a recent interview with Vasay Chaudhry in his show, Ghabrana Mana Hai.

    Vasay asked Iman about a list of popular films that she rejected, answering the question, she said: “I might have rejected the film because I may not be in friendship with the writer of that film or might not be fond of him.”

    Koi zehr bhi lag sakta hai na, islie mana kia ho sakta hai,” she added.

    Vasay then went on to ask her that how many films have she rejected? The Khuda Kay Liye actress said: “There are a lot of them.”

    Iman added: “I rejected Karachi Se Lahore, Punjab Nahi Jaungi, Jawani Phir Nahi Ani, Na Maloom Afraad, and there was one film Azaadi by Irfan Malik and many more.”

    Vasay asked Iman that why did she refuse to work in Jawani Phir Nahi Ani? To which she replied: “Ye to all boys film thi islie.” And what about Na Maloom Afraad, asked Vasay, “Ye bhi all boys film thi,” she answered.

    He then asked that why did she not work in Punjab Nahi Jaungi? She started laughing and said: “I think the writer cheated on the character of the heroine. The writer is from Punjab and knows about Punjab, then he should only write about that. Why are you writing about a girl who came from Karachi or London, write something that you know about.”

    “Khalil-ur-Rehman was the writer of that movie,” added Vasay. Then she said: “He writes really well about Punjab and Punjabi characters but my character was a little out of his comfort zone.”

    She continued: “I did watch the film after it released but there were some issues which remains there.”

    Vasay also asked: “What happened to Karachi Se Lahore?” She said: “Don’t even talk about that, the character does not make any sense. That she’s a nerd, in ghar kay kurtay and pajamay.”

    She also revealed that she has done some films for the sake of friendship like Tich Button and Mah-e-Mir but she still had some issues with the story and some things in them.

    When Vasay concluded the interview by saying that he hope writers are listening that she is ready to work, the moment he took Khalil’s name, Iman said she hopes he doesn’t listen to this announcemnet.

    Ainee Ki Ayegi Baraat

    Mahira Khan was offered the titular role in Ainee Ki Ayegi Baraat, but she turned it down for being a multi-starrer and the role went to her Humsafar co-star, Naveen Waqar. The script was written by Vasay Chaudhary who even pulled Mahira’s leg for rejecting his show at Fawad Khans production launch event.

    Mera Naseeb

    Mera Naseeb was supposed to be Mahira Khan’s first drama. It was revealed when a fan tweeted about how he would love to see Sanam Saeed and Mahira appear together on a “friendship movie or a chick flick”, Khan replied that her debut drama was actually supposed to be Hum TV’s Mera Naseeb. The Raees actress mentioned in an interview that she rejected the script as it had the concept of a pretty cousin sister vs an unpleasant-looking cousin sister and how it impacts their married life.

    After the thunderous success of Humsafar, Mahira refused the drama Kankar which was later done by Sanam Baloch. The drama dealt with the subject of domestic abuse. Mahira instead chose to do Sarmad Khoosat’s directorial Shehr-e-Zaat as she found it to be more challenging as a performer.

    Mahira Khan was approached for the role of Amal Dastoor in Humayun Saeed’s blockbuster film. Humayun revealed in an interview that they had multiple meetings for the same but the talks couldn’t materialize.

    Mahira Khan rejected Mehwish Hayat’s role in Jawani Phir Nahi Ani as she was already working for Ho Mann Jahan and felt the script wasn’t empowering for women.
