    60-year-old woman raped and killed in Bihar, India

    An elderly woman in the Indian state of Bihar was found dead by the police after being raped and murdered.

    According to Indian media, the woman was killed after being gang-raped in Nawada district of Bihar.

    The report said that the incident came to light when the mutilated body was found by the police on December 26.

    Local police took action and arrested four persons suspected of involvement in the rape and murder.

    The police said that three of the suspects have confessed to raping and killing her by slitting her throat, while one man is still on the run.

    Talking about the incident, a police officer said that the woman and her husband, originally from Gaya, had gone to the city on December 25 to meet their relatives.

    He said that the old couple had to take a rickshaw from the railway station to reach their destination. However, as soon as only the old lady sat in the rickshaw, the driver started the rickshaw and took her away.

    Police apprehended the suspect with the help of CCTV footage.

    According to the police, during the investigation, the blood of the woman was found on the clothes of the suspects, while the weapon used to kill her has also been recovered.

    Senate approves bill for public hanging of rapists despite opposition

    A Senate committee has passed an amended bill for the public hanging of rapists despite strong opposition from Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), interior and foreign affairs ministries.

    The bill, proposed by Senator Mushtaq Ahmed of Jamaat-i-Islami, aims to amend sections 375, 375A, and 376 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) and Schedule II of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrCP).

    The Senate Standing Committee on Interior, chaired by Senator Mohsin Aziz, discussed the amendments to remove section D and introduce public hangings for rapists. The demand for public hangings gained momentum following the gang-rape incident on the Lahore-Sialkot motorway in September 2020

    Senator Sherry Rehman of PPP strongly opposed public hangings. She also took to X (former Twitter) to express her disapproval.

    “I strongly opposed public hangings being introduced in a bill in Senate Interior Committee by JI colleague Sen Mushtaq. There is no proven link between deterrence & public executions, let alone death penalty. Quite the contrary. Sorry to see others arguing for a further brutalisation of society. Ziaul Haq introduced public punishments, what did that do? Rape and human rights crimes went up and have been going up ever since. The PPP opposes such laws.”

    The committee also approved the “Criminal Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2023”, which focuses on proper treatment and medical examination reports for rape victims through public and private hospitals. The bill was moved by Senator Mumtaz Zehri.

    They addressed the issue of private jails and passed the “Criminal Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2023”, co-sponsored by Senators Mushtaq Ahmed and Samina Mumtaz Zehri to deter false imprisonment within residences.

    Other bills were discussed during the session, including one temporarily rejected due to its sub judice status, and another was rejected.

    The committee also passed the “Rain Water Harvesting Facility in Urban Areas, Bill 2023,” to efficiently utilize rainwater, supported by CDA representatives.

    Senator Irfan Siddiqui raised concerns about a missing bill for almost 15 months and decided to request a detailed report on the matter from relevant officials.The meeting was attended by various senators, including Saifullah Abro, Samina Mumtaz Zehri, and Sherry Rehman, as well as bill movers Senator Mushtaq Ahmed and Palwasha Khan, along with government representatives.

    Eight cases of rape have been registered in Lahore in last 48 hours, Dawn has reported.

    A housemaid was raped in Defence Lahore, after being promised a job against an attractive salary package. The woman got pregnant after the rape, leading to her husband kicking her out of the house.

    In a separate incident, a man kidnapped a 14-year-old girl from Muzaffargarh, took her to Lahore, and raped her.

    One woman was gang raped in Quaid-e-Azam Industrial area, another was raped in Sabzazar.

    Another woman was allegedly raped in Green Town area of Lahore.

    As per the details, the suspects involved in rape incidents also take money from the the survivors by blackmailing them.
    Last year in June, Punjab government declared a rape emergency in the province, following an increase in rape and sodomy cases in the province.

    An eight-year old girl was allegedly gang-raped by six men in Chiniot, reports ARY. As per the details, all six perpetrators fled away from the scene.

    The rape survivor has been shifted to the hospital for medical treatment and tests.

    According to the police, the father of the rape survivor filed the complaint. The police have also said that further action would be taken in light of the girl’s medical report.

    Almost 21,900 women were reported to have been raped in Pakistan from 2017 to 2021, Zahid Gishkori reported for Samaa. The data has been complied by SAMAA TV Investigation Unit (SIU) from the Punjab Home Department and Ministry of Human Rights (MoHRs).

    This means that approximately 12 women were raped every day, or one every two hours, throughout the country.

    The girl had filed a complaint against the Chinese national at the Koral police station in the capital.

    According to First Information Report (FIR), the 16-year-old girl is a grade 9 student who has been working as a translator for a Chinese national on a monthly pay of Rs15,000 since May 2021.
    The man raped her for months, threatening her with dire consequences if she resisted.

    The girl became pregnant but did not tell her family. Her elder sister, however, found out and rushed her to a private hospital in F-8, where doctors found her to be over 31 weeks pregnant. Later, the sister approached the police to file a report.

    According to the police, the suspect had been arrested and his passport has also been confiscated.

    A 10-year-old boy was allegedly raped by the Imam of a mosque in Lahore. The incident took place on Wednesday in Chandrai Chowki, Kot Lakhpat.

    As per media reports, the child had gone to offer Fajr prayers in the mosque where the accused, Abbas, took him to the basement and allegedly raped him.

    The Police have arrested the prime suspect. SP Model Town Hasan Javed Bhatti said that a case has been registered against the accused and the Gender Cell is handling the case.

    Missing Afghan boy found murdered after being raped

    A missing five-year-old Afghan boy was found murdered on Monday in Karachi. The boy was also raped before being murdered, police have confirmed.

    The minor went missing on Sunday, however, at the time the deceased’s father didn’t register any report. The father has told the police that he had no enmity with anyone.

    Later, the area Station House Officer (SHO) said that an First Information Report (FIR) was lodged on the complaint of the child’s father, who is an Afghan.

    Police Surgeon Summaiya Syed said that after the autopsy it was found that the boy was sexually assaulted, reports Dawn.

    “The face was covered with a plastic bag. His hands were tied behind his back with nylon wire and he was strangled to death,” she said.

    Taking notice of the incident, Karachi police chief formed an investigation team and directed it to submit a progress report within three days.

    A Lahore-based TikToker has allegedly raped a woman at a private hotel in the city. The rape survivor hails from Jhelum.

    According to details, the TikToker who hails from Lahore’s Dharampura area and goes by the name of Taimur befriended a woman on TikTok. He then called her to Lahore and promised to marry her. The TikToker kept her at a private hotel and allegedly raped her.

    A case has been registered at the Civil Lines Police Station upon the complaint of the rape survivor.

    The man fled the crime scene. The police is investigating the case and conducting raids to arrest the accused.

    Man arrested for raping three minor girls and killing two of them

    A suspect who allegedly raped three minor girls was arrested by the police in Peshawar, reported Geo News.

    According to the police, the DNA test of the man matched with the girls and he also confessed to sexually assaulting the three minor girls and killing two of them.

    In his reported confession, he said he raped and killed a 10-year-old girl in the Railway Colony area on July 3 and also killed a girl in the Kalibari area after sexually assaulting her on July 17. He raped another victim on July 10.

    The accused is reportedly aged between 25 and 30 and worked as a craftsman.

    For this case, a special investigation team interviewed a survivor. The team also went through 50 images of suspects and conducted DNA tests of 100 people and investigated 200 residences, reports Express Tribune.

    Child molestation has been on the rise as it jumped up by 93 per cent in 2021 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). The Central Police Office (CPO) has stated that 360 cases of child sexual abuse were recorded last year across the province.

    Two minor girls were allegedly raped in separate incidents in Rawalpindi areas, Naseerabad and Kallar Syedan. One of them is a seven-year-old girl.

    The seven-year-old girl was playing with her brother on the rooftop of her house when a neighbour took her to his house where he raped her, the survivor’s father told the police.

    According to the Investigating Officer (IO), after the incident, the girl was taken to the hospital where her condition worsened as a result of trauma.

    A First Information Report (FIR) has been registered and the search for the suspect is underway.

    In the second incident, a young girl was allegedly raped by a member of her own family who had come to stay at her house. Following the incident, her mother informed the police and a case was registered.
