    Four Adiala jail officials dismissed over prisoner murder inquiry

    The Punjab government has terminated four officials from Adiala Jail Rawalpindi, including Deputy Superintendent Muhammad Akram and Assistant Superintendent Riaz Khan.

    A notification issued by the Punjab government read that officials were dismissed after being found guilty in an inquiry into the murder of a prisoner in Adiala jail.

    It further read that the inquiry was initiated on February 29 following the death of a prisoner in the cells. The inquiry declared seven officials guilty, including Deputy Superintendent Muhammad Akram, and four of them were recommended by the Punjab government to be dismissed from employment.

    It should be mentioned here that Deputy Superintendent of Adiala jail Rawalpindi Muhammad Akram, along with other officials, were also apprehended over the allegation of the facilitation of the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Imran Khan in Rawalpindi Adiala jail.

    Former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s wife Bushra Bibi and his sister Aleema Khan exchanged harsh words during the Toshakhana case hearing at Adiala jail in Rawalpindi, Express Tribune has reported.

    An uproar flared up in the family section of the prison, where women’s voices were heard arguing loudly, interrupting Imran Khan’s conversation with journalists thrice.

    The dispute started after Aleema Khan commented about a female lawyer in court, to which Bushra Bibi and her daughters responded, upon which a heated conversation escalated, and both exchanged hard-hitting words.

    Meanwhile, Bushra Bibi’s granddaughter started crying as the argument unfolded.

    Outside the jail, Aleema talked to journalists to take a swipe at PTI leader Sher Afzal Marwat.
    “Imran Khan just shook hands with Sher Afzal Marwat, he did not hug him,” Aleema stated.

    She accused Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faez Isa of trying to eliminate PTI and Imran Khan. “As Qazi Faez ends his tenure, the election results will crumble.”
    Faez Isa and Chief Justice Islamabad High Court Amir Farooq are a part of the London agreement plan, which facilitates Nawaz Sharif, she alleged.

    Woman claiming to be foreigner actually from Rawalpindi

    A woman who claimed to be a Belgian national and alleged that she had been kept in captivity for months while being raped, has been found to be a permanent resident of Rawalpindi by the name of Farwa Kiyani.

    The Belgium embassy has confirmed that she is not their citizen.

    National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has revealed that Farwa Kiyani’s facial recognition and finger impression revealed her to be Pakistani national. Meanwhile, medical reports have shown no evidence of rape.

    She has no document verification nor was international arrival and departure record found pertaining to her. Farwa spoke Pothohari, police sources claim

    Farwa Kiyani was found at Islamabad G-7/1-3 on the roadside and claimed to have been raped and declared herself a Belgian citizen.

    Rain emergency declared in Rawalpindi as heavy downpours lash Punjab

    Following heavy downpours of rain in various cities of Punjab, including Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, and Jhelum, many areas experienced power outages.

    Rawalpindi imposed a rain emergency on the garrison city.

    Torrential rains in several Punjab cities caused water accumulation on highways and roads in Lahore and Gujranwala. Rainwater also entered the ward of Gujranwala’s Medical College Teaching Hospital.

    Power supply was disrupted due to 100 feeder trips during heavy late-night rains, resulting in power outages in many areas.

    In Rawalpindi, water levels reached five feet at Katarian in Nala Lai and four feet at Golmandi bridge, prompting the declaration of rain emergency.

    The Meteorological Department recorded over 30 mm of rain in Rawalpindi and Islamabad.

    Intermittent rain continued in various cities of Azad Kashmir, including Samahni, Mirpur, Dadyal, Jatlan, and Mangla.

    The Meteorological Department forecasts intermittent rain, strong winds, and thunderstorms today in different areas of Azad Kashmir, Islamabad, Upper and Central Punjab, Northeastern Balochistan, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

    It warned of possible flooding in mountain streams until July 7.

    The department also warned of urban flooding in Lahore, Sialkot, Gujranwala, Narowal, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, and Peshawar, and landslides in the hilly areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa due to heavy rains.

    Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has given the green light to a tourist ‘glass train’ project connecting Rawalpindi and Murree, aimed at boosting tourism in the region.

    The approval came during a meeting chaired by the Chief Minister in Murree.

    The government plans to enlist international consultants for the execution of the glass train project.

    The chief minister sanctioned several other development and beautification projects for Murree.

    A decision was also made to demolish high-rise hotels that block out the natural scenery along Mall Road Rawalpindi.

    The construction and extension of the old Rawalpindi-Murree-Kashmir Road was also approved.

    Moreover, the government has committed to removing hotels around GPO Chowk and restoring historical buildings.

    Christian man lynched by Sargodha mob dies of injuries after nine days

    A Christian man in Sargodha, who became a victim of a lynch mob last month, died at a hospital in Rawalpindi on Monday, nine days after the unfortunate incident.

    On May 25, Sargodha police rescued Nazir Masih, 70, from a raging mob accusing the victim of desecrating the Holy Quran. The mob also attacked the homes of some other members of the minority community in the district’s Mujahid Colony.

    The crowd knocked on the door of the victim and when he came out he was attacked with kicks and fists and stones were hurled at him. A shoe shop belonging to the Christian family was also set on fire. The walls and doors of the minority community’s homes were also damaged.

    The victim’s nephew denied allegations of discretion.

    A terrorism case had been registered against 44 people and 300/400 unidentified suspects, with more than 100 arrests being made. Meanwhile, the police had also registered a blasphemy case against the Christian man.

    Previously, the rumors of the man’s death spread all over social media but a nephew denied them straight away.

    Today, Dawn talked to the Christian man’s other nephew and he confirmed that his uncle passed away at a hospital in Rawalpindi, adding that his body was being shifted back to Sargodha for the funeral this afternoon.

    Adiala jail administration has installed room coolers for founder Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi to help them deal with the extreme heat in Rawalpindi.

    Prison sources also confirmed to The News that former foreign minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, who is incarcerated in Adiala jail in the cypher case, has also been provided with a room cooler.

    The jail administration has started providing additional facilities to inmates, including cold water and beverages, as well as extra water coolers that have also been installed throughout the jail premises.

    The Adiala jail administration affirmed that various measures have been put in place to protect inmates from the heat wave’s impact, as the weather in Islamabad and Rawalpindi is extremely hot.

    A crackdown has been launched against people sharing anti-state content on social media. So far, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested two suspects from Rawalpindi.

    The FIA inquiry is aimed at people involved in propaganda against Pakistan’s military institutions and important personalities.

    FIA teams conducted raids at various locations in Rawalpindi and arrested two suspects, stating that the accused were involved in spreading fabricated and fake news against the armed forces.

    Among the arrested suspects are Yasir Arafat and Irfan Abbas who were taken into custody from Rawat and Gujar Khan areas.

    A team of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has raided Bahria Town’s Rawalpindi office on Tuesday, initiating an investigation into irregularities in the property conglomerate.

    SAMAA TV reported that an investigation has been initiated on Bahria Enclave land, and the land, which was given by the Capital Development Authority (CDA) for a zoo, is now under inspection. The anti-graft watchdog team raided the Bahria Town office in Rawalpindi to take records into custody.

    Informed sources told SAMAA that the NAB team stayed at the Bahria Town office for more than two hours, confiscating crucial data, including files of multiple housing projects and other important records.

    During the raid, the anti-graft watchdog team retrieved digital evidence and data from computers.

    Police officials and elite personnel were also with the NAB team during the raid.

    The NAB team will investigate the land of Bahria Enclave and wrongdoings in the attainment of all the lands of Bahria Town.

    Property dealer shoots himself allegedly due to financial dispute in Rawalpindi

    A property dealer identified as Arshad Jamal has reportedly taken his own life by shooting himself in Rawalpindi.

    The video in which he is seen committing suicide has been widely shared which brought attention to the case, and the police launched an investigation.

    The video footage shows the dealer, sitting in the office of another property dealer within a housing society, inquiring about a particular individual to an office boy. Upon receiving an unsatisfactory response regarding the person’s whereabouts, the dealer takes out a gun from his bag, places it against his temple, and presses the trigger, resulting in instant death.

    The police, under the supervision of Rawat police station SHO Muhammad Zulfiqar, gathered evidence and transferred the deceased to a medical facility, reported The Express Tribune.

    SHO Rawat confirmed that a preliminary report has been initiated based on statements from Gulfam Shehzad, the nephew of the deceased.
    According to the nephew’s statement, the deceased Arshad Jamal had contacted him before the incident, mentioning a financial dispute with another man named Sheikh Tayyab amounting to Rs300 million.

    A preliminary report has been lodged to dig deep into this matter.
