    Car drowned in Malir River recovered, seven people still missing

    A car drowned in the Malir River by a flash flood due to heavy rain in Sindh on Wednesday. Six members of a family and their driver were travelling to Hyderabad in the car.

    As per details, the Edhi team has recovered the car, but the seven people travelling in the car are still missing. There are flash floods in the Malir River due to the consistent heavy rain in Sindh.

    The Government of Sindh has announced a public holiday in Karachi and Hyderabad today (August 18, Thursday) due to heavy rainfall.

    The decision has been taken amid heavy rainfall in most parts of the province.

    Girl kidnapped by ex-fiancé in broad daylight, recovered

    After Lahore High Court Chief Justice Muhammad Ameer Bhatti ordered the police to rescue a girl kidnapped in broad daylight from the Shadbagh neighbourhood by Sunday evening, police retrieved her.

    The accused was apprehended in Arifwala and the girl was found. The victim, a 10th-grade student, was riding back home after taking the exam, with her brother when the motorcycle was hit by a car. Two armed men exited the vehicle, one grabbing the girl’s hand and forcing her inside the vehicle, while the other man aimed his rifle at her brother, preventing him from resisting. The kidnappers drove away after abducting the teenager.

    The LHC chief justice Muhammad Ameer Bhatti took notice of the event and instructed the IG Punjab to rescue the woman and present her in court. In connection with the case, the IGP, the CCPO, and other senior officers appeared before the Chief Justice on Sunday, promising to rescue the girl before the deadline.

    Kidnapper Abid was the girl’s ex-fiance, according to the CCPO Lahore. The perpetrator kidnapped the victim because he was bitter about the end of their engagement. The kidnappers promptly turned off their cellphones following the event. The girl was rescued from Arifwala and the culprits were apprehended after the IG enlisted the help of the IB and CTD.

    95-year-old becomes the oldest woman to recover from coronavirus

    A 95-year-old has become the oldest known woman to recover from coronavirus in Italy.

    Alma Clara Corsini, from Fanano in the province of Modena, was diagnosed with COVID-19 earlier this month.

    Corsini fully recovered from the Covid-19 without the need for antiviral treatment after her body showed a “great reaction” to the disease, doctors say. The hospital has discharged the 95-year-old. 

    As per reports, Corsini became the ‘pride of the staff’ during her stay at the hospital that has been trying to cope with the increasing number of cases of COVID-19 in the country.

    Italy, the epicenter of the virus in Europe, has had more than 59,000 cases of Covid-19 so far. The death toll from the coronavirus outbreak in Italy yesterday rose to 5476 – an increase of 651 from the day before.
