  • OGRA lowers RLNG cost by $4.6 per MMBTU

OGRA lowers RLNG cost by $4.6 per MMBTU

Re-gasified liquefied natural gas (RLNG) will cost consumers of public gas utilities 20.57 per cent less in July 2022 than it did in June, according to a notification from the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra).

The government has set the RLNG price for Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited’s (SNGPL) customers at $17.4603 per metric million British thermal units (MMBTU), according to a notification released on Friday.

Compared to the rate of $20.7691 per MMBTU for June 2022, the new price is $3.3088 less. The general sales tax (GST) is not included in the weighted average sale price.

The RLNG price will be $17.9575 per MMBTU for Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) customers as opposed to the SNGPL consumer price, which represents a $4.6501 per MMBTU decrease for July over $22.6076 per MMBTU.

  • Here’s why iOS 16 is going to be the finest upgrade ever

Here’s why iOS 16 is going to be the finest upgrade ever

On paper, Apple’s iOS 16, the iPhone’s next big software upgrade, appears to be innovative and super secure. iOS 16, which was previewed at Apple’s annual conference, would bring enhancements to communication, personalisation, and privacy. This contains significant upgrades to the lock screen, Messages app, and photos on your iPhone.

The developer beta for iOS 16 is already available, with a public beta version expected in July. iOS 16 will be released this fall, most likely alongside the much-anticipated iPhone 14. The new software is also compatible with iPhone 8 and subsequent models.

“Embarrassing errors are a thing of the past,” Apple Senior Vice President of Software Engineering Craig Federighi said as he unveiled three of the Messages app’s most requested additions.

For starters, you’ll be able to edit sent texts in iOS 16. So, if you find a typo after sending a message, you’ll be able to correct it later. In the message’s status, a small “edited” shows.

Next, and perhaps the best feature, you can recall a sent message right away. If you mistakenly send an incomplete message, you can utilise the Undo Send feature to prevent it from being read, making your friends and family think you’re crazy.

Finally, you may flag unread messages and threads. When you don’t have time to answer a message right away but want to make sure you don’t forget about it later, this could be a useful tool.

The lock screen is one of the first things you see when you open your iPhone, especially if it has Face ID. The iPhone’s lock screen receives the most significant improvement yet with iOS 16. To edit your lock screen, press and hold. You can swipe through a variety of different styles.

Each design alters the background photo’s colour filter as well as the typeface on the lock screen, ensuring that everything is in sync. This appears to be Apple’s response to Google’s Material You, which debuted with Android 12.

You can also change the typefaces for the time and date, as well as add lock screen widgets like a calendar, temperature, and activity rings. On the Apple Watch lock screen, the widgets are similar to complications.

You can also create many personalised lock screens with various widgets and switch between them with a simple swipe. There’s even a photo-shuffle feature that changes the photographs on your lock screen automatically.

An always-on display was one feature we thought Apple would provide. It’s a feature found on practically all Android phones, as well as the Apple Watch. There’s a chance it’ll be released alongside the iPhone 14.

As alerts might sometimes obscure the photo on your lock screen, iOS 16 pushes notifications to the bottom of your screen. Instead of being gathered into a list, they show as a vertical carousel as you receive them. This not only looks better, but it should also make one-handed use of your iPhone much easier.

Another issue with notifications is addressed in iOS 16. You may receive a series of notifications from one app in a sequence, such as the score of a basketball game. Instead of experiencing a succession of interruptions, a new tool for developers called Live Activities makes it easy to remain on top of things happening in real-time from your lock screen.

Sporting events, workouts, and even the progress of an Uber ride should be easier to monitor with Live Activities.

Visual Look Up in iOS 15 analyses photographs and can recognise objects such as flora, landmarks, and pets. This is taken to the next level with iOS 16. You may remove a photo’s subject. Interestingly, It’s just a tap-and-hold tool for removing the background from a photo.

Safety Check is a programme that tries to assist people who are in violent relationships. It’s a new service that is designed to assist those who are in violent situations. It allows you to check and change who has access to your iPhone’s location information, passwords, messages, and other apps.

Several changes have been made to the focus mode. The first uses widgets and lock screen appearance to apply Focus behaviours. So you could have one lock screen for when Work Focus is turned on and another for when you’re working out.

Moreover, Apple has added Focus filters to apps that apply your iPhone’s Focus mode. For example, depending on which Focus mode is active, you can limit which tabs are displayed in Safari.

  • Honda Pakistan records 40 per cent increase in earnings

Honda Pakistan records 40 per cent increase in earnings

Honda Atlas Cars Limited (HACL) concluded the financial year with a 40 per cent increase in earnings, giving investors reason to be optimistic. This is despite several challenges including an ongoing chip shortage, rising commodity prices on overseas markets, hefty freight rates, and the rupee’s depreciation.

“The result is below our expectations, which is mainly due to higher-than-expected distribution costs and effective tax rate,” Ismail Iqbal Securities auto sector analyst Muqeet Naeem stated.

The automaker benefited from the fact that demand for four-wheelers remained high despite the problems.

Honda purchasers appear to be unconcerned with price changes, preferring to purchase their preferred vehicles whenever they want, regardless of how much more expensive they are now than they were only two years ago.

Prices have continued to rise at a rapid pace. There may also be a sense that prices will continue to rise. However, in a market known for “own money” or high premiums, continued demand despite price increases should not be surprising.

The earnings per unit sold is a great marker of how quickly prices have risen. Honda sold 57 per cent more automobiles in MY22 than the previous year, which ended in March 21.

The introduction of a new Civic generation considerably attributed to Honda’s sales growth.

Not only have imports become more expensive as the PKR has depreciated against the greenback, but inflationary pressures on inputs and rising fuel prices have also contributed to cost increases. Revenue and cost per unit sold have generally increased in lockstep.

As a result, despite strong demand growth, margins have fallen to 5 per cent.

Other income, which consists of customer advances, has significantly bolstered the company’s profitability. Other income boosted the bottom line by 47 per cent in MY22, compared to 33 per cent the previous year. This also suggests that demand will continue to rise in the coming months.

However, as lending rates continue to skyrocket, the company may lose demand from purchasers who plan to finance their vehicles through a bank.

  • Pakistan’s cement exports fell by 82.15 per cent in April 2022

Pakistan’s cement exports fell by 82.15 per cent in April 2022

Owing to unpredictable economic and political conditions, cement sales remained weak last month and between July and April 2021-22 (10MFY22), according to All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA).

The sector shipped 3.37 million tonnes of local cement in April 2022, down 17 per cent from 4.06 million tonnes in April 2021, while exports dropped 82.15 per cent from 877,163 tonnes in April 2021 to 156,613 tonnes in April 2022.

As a result, overall cement sales including local and exports plummeted by 28.6 per cent in April 2022 to 3.52 million tonnes, down from 4.94 million tonnes in April 2021, as per APCMA data.

North-based cement mills sold 2.8 million tonnes in domestic markets in April 2022, down 17 per cent from 3.3 million tonnes in April 2021. Exports from northern mills declined 75.22 per cent in April 2021, from 250,072 tonnes to 61,971 tonnes.

According to data from the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), banks granted Rs180 billion in housing loans in 10MFY22, with Rs57 billion disbursed over the same time. Housing loan applications of Rs409 billion had been received by banks.

The political and economic instability of March had begun to deter investors in the construction industry, as seen by the APCMA’s domestic April sales figures.

Moreover, high lending rates of 12.25 per cent effective April 7 and the risk of further rate hikes will impact construction activity, while consumers are already under pressure due to increased living costs, with the CPI for April at 13.37 per cent.

Owing to record high prices for steel bars, cement, and other construction supplies, people are also cautious to make new investments in building new homes.

  • Samsung shipped 73.7 million cellphones in Q1 2022

Samsung shipped 73.7 million cellphones in Q1 2022

Samsung does not like surrendering its position as the world’s leading smartphone manufacturer. Even though Apple temporarily dethroned it, the firm has fought back and reclaimed what it considers to be its rightful position.

1st quarter of 2022 According to data from market research organisations Canalys and Counterpoint, Samsung is the global leader in smartphone shipments. Apple did well as well, but it was only able to finish second to the Korean behemoth.

Samsung’s Galaxy S22 series has contributed to the company’s strong performance in the first quarter of this year. Many Galaxy Note fans were enticed back to Samsung with the Galaxy S22 Ultra in particular.

According to Canalys, worldwide smartphone shipments hit 311.2 million units in the first quarter of 2022, down 11 per cent year on year. While Samsung regained the lead, delivering 73.7 million units, the company saw a 43 per cent drop in sales.
