    Pakistani pacer Haris Rauf is known for his quirky celebrations after he took Shahid Afridi’s wicket in Pakistan Super League (PSL). A video of the 28-year-old speedster is circulating on social media and burned the internet with his unique style of celebrating the wicket in Big Bash League (BBL).

    In Melbourne Stars jersey, the right-arm fast bowler came up with a ‘Covid-safe’ celebration, where he gestured to sanitise his hands and put on a mask after taking the wicket of Kurtis Patterson.

    It all happened during the third over of the BBL contest between Perth Scorchers vs Melbourne Stars. Rauf bowled a delivery that was angling away outside off stump, tempting Patterson to go for a cover drive. But the batter nicked it to the keeper Joe Clarke, which was followed by Rauf’s hilarious celebration.

    Rauf acted to take out sanitiser from his pocket moments after the umpire raise his finger. The Pakistan seamer then pulled out a mask and wore it, leaving his teammates and even the commentators in splits.

    Rauf finished with figures of 2 for 38 in his four overs as Perth Scorchers scored 117 runs off the last 10 overs to take their total to 196/3.

    Earlier, Rauf impressed his fans after taking a brilliant catch in his second match for the Stars.

    ‘Covid vaccination mandatory for naat khuwans, scholars in Rabiul Awal celebrations’: NCOC

    The National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) has issued coronavirus guideline for Rabiul Awal celebrations across the country. It is mandatory for religious scholars and naat khuwans to be fully immunised against Covid.

    At a meeting led by Asad Umar, it was decided that only licensed and government-approved rallies will be allowed.

    Here are other SOPs issued by the NCOC:

    • Strict implementation of SOPs at milads.
      It is compulsory for people to wear masks, use sanitisers, and maintain social distancing at celebrations.
    • Ulemas and naat khuwans to be fully vaccinated against coronavirus.
    • The government has urged media houses to run live transmissions of milads and other celebrations. This way more people will be able to take part in the celebrations without having to physically attend them.
    • Special vaccination camps to be set up on 10th Rabiul Awal.
    • Venues for milads and other celebrations should be open and airy.
    • A six-feet distance in seating arrangements should be ensured.
    • Thermal scanners to be set up at entrance points.
    • Sanitisers and masks to be provided at the entrance.
    • Health desks to be established at all venues.
      Only packed food to be distributed.

    Earlier, the Sindh government imposed a ban on pillion riding on Eid Milad-un-Nabi, the 12th of Rabiul Awal. It will be celebrated on October 19.

    Women, children below 12 years of age, senior citizens, journalists, disabled persons, law enforcers, and employees of essential services have been exempted from the ban.

    Police arrest shopkeeper for selling overpriced hand sanitizers

    A shopkeeper was arrested for selling hand sanitizers at inflated prices in Karachi.

    As per reports, the police had raided a pharmacy in Dolmen Mall, Clifton and arrested a shopkeeper who was allegedly selling sanitizers at more than four times the original market price. He was arrested for violating Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.

    As the number of coronavirus cases hit 184, there is a shortage of hand sanitizers and face masks at the grocery stores across the country.

    People have been directed to use hand sanitizer to protect themselves from the pandemic.

    Earlier, the police had arrested another shopkeeper for selling a bottle of hand sanitizer at Rs 1,000. A case was registered against him and 288 bottles of sanitizer were seized from his possession.
