    Growing Saudi-India partnership: MBS and Modi discuss expanding trade goals

    Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman held discussions on trade ties in New Delhi after the G20 Summit. The leaders met at the Hyderabad House, New Delhi, for the Saudi-Indian Strategic Partnership Council meeting. During the talks, they covered various areas of cooperation and regional and international topics of mutual interest.

    Modi expressed satisfaction with the discussions, highlighting synergy with Saudi Arabia. He emphasized the potential for collaboration in grid connectivity, renewable energy, food security, semiconductors, and supply chains.

    The meeting involved senior officials from Saudi Arabia, including Minister of Energy Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman, Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan, and Minister of Investment Khalid al-Falih. Falih mentioned the possibility of establishing an office for Saudi Arabia’s sovereign wealth fund, the Public Investment Fund, in India’s tax-neutral financial services center, Gujarat International Finance Tec-City.

    Furthermore, the Saudi Export-Import Bank (Saudi EXIM) and the India Export-Import Bank (India EXIM) signed an agreement to boost exports and mutual market presence.

    This gathering followed the announcement of a multinational rail and ports deal involving India, Saudi Arabia, the United States, the European Union, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and other global leaders. The deal aims to connect the Middle East and South Asia through the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor, enhancing connectivity and reducing shipping costs.

    US President Joe Biden viewed this agreement as a significant step and a counter to China’s Belt and Road Initiative.

    Saudi Arabia’s football team pulled off one of the biggest upsets in the history of the sport by defeating Argentina with two second-half goals in their opening FIFA World Cup match in Qatar on Tuesday.

    The victory did not just drive Saudi fans into a frenzy but was also celebrated by the Kingdom’s normally staid and reserved royal family.

    Saudi Crown Prince, Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud, watched the match along with family members. Following the victory, the crown prince got overwhelmed and prostrated before God.

    It’s a public holiday tomorrow in Saudi Arabia after FIFA win

    The Saudi government has declared tomorrow, Wednesday, a holiday to mark the historic FIFA win.

    The holiday will be applicable to all employees in both public and private sectors, as well as all students across the country.

    This isn’t the first time a public holiday has been declared after a World Cup win. Cameroon’s stellar performance against Argentina in the opening match of the 1990’s tournament also received similar reactions after the Central African nation pulled off a miraculous win.

    Crown prince of Dubai goes unnoticed while travelling on London tube

    Crown Prince of Dubai Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum recently went on vacation with his family and friends in London. Sheikh Hamdan is also known as Fazza.

    During his trip, the Crown Prince and his close friend Badr Ateej had a ride on the London tube.

    He shared the pictures on his official Instagram.

    “We’ve got a long way to go and Badr is already bored,” he said in the caption.

    None of the fellow passengers appeared to recognise the prince.

    Ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum also joined Hamdan on vacation in London. Hamdan on his Instagram shared a picture with his father and his two children.

    PM Shehbaz, MBS vow to cement Pak-Saudi ties further

    Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday met Saudi Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman (MBS) in Jeddah.

    According to the Prime Minister’s office twitter account, during the meeting, both the leaders discussed issues of mutual interest including global and regional issues.

    A 13-member delegation including federal ministers accompanied Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in the meeting that took place in Jeddah.

    Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has been on a three days visit to Saudi Arabia on the invitation of the Saudi crown prince.

    Earlier, upon his arrival at the Palace, the prime minister was warmly welcomed by the crown prince. He was given a guard of honour.

    Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, Finance Minister Miftah Ismail, Information Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, Pakistan Ulema Council Chairman Tahir Ashrafi and others accompanied the PM.

    On Friday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif along with his delegation paid his respects at Roza-e-Rasool (Peace Be Upon Him) in Medina Munawara.

    The prime minister offered Nawafils at Riaz-ul-Jannah and prayed for the security, progress and socio-economic development of the country.

    This is PM Sharif’s first foreign trip after assuming office earlier this month.
