Art knows no boundaries and Pakistani celebrities don’t shy away to express their love for Indian artists and vice versa. Recently four cross-border stories of love and appreciation have grabbed the attention of people from both the countries.
Here are the artists who have praised and appreciated each other in their own ways:
Sarwat Gilani and Alia Bhatt
Pakistani actress Sarwat Gillani believes that talent should be appreciated even if the artist belongs to another country. The Churails star recently took to Instagram to let her fans know that her praise will not be confined by borders.
Replying to a comment of a fan asking her why Pakistani celebrities praise Bollywood actors even though, according to the fan, they are much more talented than their Indian counterparts.
Sarwat gracefully replied back and lauded Bhatt by commenting, “We must learn to appreciate the people who deserve our praise. You don’t know how hard they’ve worked to get where they are. Alia Bhatt is an amazing artist and praise knows no boundaries or borders.”
Sajal Aly and Shabana Azmi

A picture of the Bollywood superstar’s son in his graduation robe has gone viral on social media. As per details, the graduation ceremony was held recently with social distancing norms in place. It is not yet clear whether SRK and his family managed to attend the ceremony.
Aryan graduated as part of the Class of 2020 and was awarded the degree of Bachelor of Fine Arts, Cinematic Arts, Film and Television production from the School of Cinematic Arts.
As per reports, Aryan does not wish to become an actor but hopes to pursue a career as a filmmaker.
Interestingly, Friends star Lisa Kudrow’s son also graduated from USC’s School of Cinematic Arts on the same day as Aryan. Kudrow’s son Julian graduated as part of the Batch of 2021.
Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has a fine sense of humour and we often witness it in his interviews, public appearances and interactive sessions on social media.
After a long break, the actor recently held an #AskSRK session on Twitter during which he teased fans about his upcoming projects, gave some hilarious responses and shared some words of wisdom before going back to “doing more of nothing”.
Have 15 minutes before I go into doing more of nothing! Thought will spend it with you all and do a quick #AskSRK 3…2….1….go!
SRK, who has not been seen on the big screen since 2018 in Zero, told fans that he is working on his next film and that all his upcoming films will feature him.
“Bhai bana raha hoon…bana raha hoon,” said the megastar when asked when he will be seen on the big screen.
When a fan asked him when he will be announcing his next film, SRK said: “Announcements are for airports and railway stations my friend…movies ki hawa toh khud ban jaati hai.”
It is pertinent to mention here that on New Year, SRK, in a quirky video, had promised fans that he will return to the big screen in 2021. As per details, SRK will be part of the action-thriller Pathan, alongside Deepika Padukone and John Abraham.
Announcements are for airports and railway stations my friend….movies ki hawa toh khud ban jaati hai….. https://t.co/1i2bYnWGPc
Meanwhile, SRK also shared some words of wisdom, advising a fan to mix passion and stability and that age is just a number.
Passion normally doesn’t guarantee payment so one has to find a mix. A lots of passion and a good amount of stability. Don’t make it an either or choice….or mutually exclusive. Do a bit of both please https://t.co/jpH1GhACfu
Age is a number….work hard and it will all happen well. I started in films at 26 if that helps. Just don’t waste your years that’s all. https://t.co/9lcBqsY6yZ
The actor also shared that he has never been good at multiple-choice questions and that he hopes his Indian Premier League (IPL) team Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) wins this year because he wants to drink coffee in the trophy cup.
Shah Rukh Khan recently posted a picture of himself playing pool on Instagram, captioning it: “As long as there is pink in the world, it will always be a better place.”
The actor was seen sporting long locks in the picture, reportedly his look for his upcoming action-thriller Pathan.
Shah Rukh Khan, known for his wit and humour, recently released a short video in which he wished his fans a ‘Happy New Year’ and promised that he has a big surprise lined up for them in 2021.
The hilarious video begins with the King of Bollywood in a night suit fighting mosquitoes. Khan adds that had to record the video all by himself as he had no staff available to record it.
“Hi everybody,” said the actor as he started his video. “It is that time of the year again where the old year is on its way out and the New Year is waiting at the entrance. Actually, it has entered because I am late in conveying my wishes to all of you.”
Reflecting on the past year, the actor said: “I am sure 2020 has been the worst of years for everybody. In these awful times, for most it is difficult to find a ray of hope and positivity. But I have a way of looking at bad days, difficult times, and awful years. I believe when one is at the lowest, at the most bottom-est of their life, the good thing is there is only one way to move – upwards, higher to better places. So, 2020 whatever it has been is in the past now. 2021 is going to be bigger, better, brighter and more beautiful.”
Elaborating on the lessons 2020 taught him, SRK emphasized on how important it is to have your loved ones by your side.
“Real fun is with real people. Your family, your friends, your loved ones. All the friends and enemies you make virtually, taking sides or fighting against you online, is good fun, time pass, but it’s not for keeps,” said the actor.
Wishing his fans “happiness, joy and peace”, Shah Rukh joked that he sounded like a “cheap greeting card” while saying this.
He also requested everyone to be “romantic, emphatic, pragmatic, democratic, fantastic” in 2021 and not be “mathematic as it’s very boring and also very difficult to rhyme with the other words.”
Khan also gave his fans some advice on partying.
“Go party hard, but not too hard in moderation. Don’t get too drunk, don’t take off your clothes and run on the street, because chances are you’ll get arrested and even worse you will wake up in the morning and realize you have lost your phone and that really sucks,” said the superstar.
The Fan actor concluded his video with a promise.
“See you on the big screen in 2021,” confirming reports that his upcoming film Pathan is in the works.
Pathan, which marks SRK’s return to the big screen after a long break, will see him play a special agent. Deepika Padukone and John Abraham are also part of the film while Salman Khan and Hrithik Roshan are expected to have cameos.
SRK was also recently spotted outside Yash Raj Studios in Mumbai sporting a new look for the film.
Bollywood legend Dilip Kumar celebrated his 98th birthday on Friday.
While the veteran actor received a plethora of wishes from across the world, the sweetest one was without a doubt from Shah Rukh Khan, with whom Kumar shares a beautiful bond.
“To the one and only, who amazed and inspired the world by just being himself,” wrote Khan on social media. “I cherish and remember every time we’ve met in vivid details and you have always loved me like your own. Love you too much.”
To the one and only, who amazed and inspired the world by just being himself. Wishing the legendary @TheDilipKumar a Happy Birthday. I cherish & remember every time we’ve met in vivid detail & you have always loved me like your own. Love you tooo much.Have a good one Dilip Sahib. pic.twitter.com/XoaT2s7a8x
Dilip Kumar’s wife Saira Banu, in an interview had once said that if she and her husband had had a son, he would have looked like SRK.
“I have always said that if we had a son, he might have looked like Shah Rukh,” said Banu. “Both he and saab are alike and have similar hair, which is why I like to run my fingers through Shah Rukh’s hair when we meet.”

It is also pertinent to add here that both Shah Rukh and Kumar’s ancestral roots can be traced to Peshawar’s Qissa Khwani Bazaar. Khan is reported to have visited the city twice during his childhood.
Earlier this year in September, the KP archaeological department announced that it had allotted Rs 50 million for the renovation and restoration of 15 historical sites in the province including the Kapoor Haveli and Dilip Kumar’s house located in Peshawar’s historical Qissa Khwani Bazaar.
“This is our cultural heritage and we take pride in preserving it. We are very proud that Dilip Kumar and Raj Kapoor were from Peshawar,” KP Director of Archaeology and Museums Abdul Samad had said.
Kumar’s house in Peshawar
Kumar’s wife Saira Banu had praised the government’s decision to restore her husband’s childhood home.
“I wish the provincial government success in its efforts and sincerely hope that this time the dream comes true. MashAllah,” the actor had said. “My heart fills up with joy each time I receive the same news about the ancestral home of Yousuf Saheb in Peshawar which the provincial government has been repeatedly trying to turn into a monument for posterity. It has come up so many times in the past and I have appreciated the tenacity with which the government is pursuing the mission of turning the house into a museum for the public to visit and feel the vintage charm of the house where Dilip Saheb grew up like any bright boy of the province.”
Popularly referred to as the ‘King of Tragedy’, Dilip Kumar was born as Muhammad Yusuf Khan on December 11, 1922, in Peshawar. He made his acting debut with the 1944 film Jwar Bhata. He is best-known for iconic roles in films like Devdas (1955), Naya Daur (1957), Mughal-e-Azam (1960), Ganga Jamuna (1961), Kranti (1981), and Karma (1986). He was last seen on the big screen in Qila in 1998 and was honoured with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 1994, and the Padma Vibhushan in 2015.
What are the three things you look for in a reality tv series? Drama, drama and more drama. Unfortunately, Netflix’s latest reality television series The Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives has everything to offer besides that. You have glitz, glam, a fancy holiday, discussions on plastic surgery and the cherry on top – lots, and I mean lots, of starry special appearances. But all this fails to add to the oomph factor and you end up watching the show only because of your love for Bollywood.
The Fab Lives of Bolly Wives (let’s just call it FLBW) centres around four Bollywood wives – Maheep Kapoor, wife of Sanjay Kapoor, Seema Khan, wife of Sohail Khan, Bhavana Pandey, wife of Chunkey Pandey, and Neelum Kothari, wife of Samir Soni. Maheep is the queen bee of the gang which has been together for 25 years. Mind you, this has been repeated a gazillion times in the entire show, lest we forget. Seema is the one with the wit and sarcasm, while Bhavana is the superstitious one. And Neelum, throughout the series is just worried about one thing: should she make a comeback to films.
While each woman has her own distinct personality and they are interesting to see in the first episode, the problem with the show is that there is just no drama. The girls are chill with one another and no one gets pissed at the other, except in one episode. Even then, their ‘showdown’ was just very dry. What is this relationship? Where is the spark? The fire? Twice Karan Johar had to come in and be the phoppo he is so that he can instigate them. Unfortunately, the fire never really lights – they really should have taken classes from our favourite Sima Taparia from Indian Matchmaking on how to say the most outrageous things and still not be hated for it. Most of the stuff we saw in the series was all that the paparazzi have already shown to us or they have posted on their Instagram feeds. Even their conversations were terribly safe as if they were scared to give viewers a sneak peek into who they are behind the facades. Just goes on to show that reality tv is not everyone’s piece of cake.
The two things I did find interesting was that one Maheep is a stalker. An actual stalker. She observes people through her binoculars and she apparently caught glimpses of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan’s wedding through her binoculars. And secondly, Seema and Sohail, despite being married don’t live in the same house. They live across the street from one another and are very happy with this arrangement.
Interestingly the show is called FLBW, but we barely get to see them as wives. We end up watching them as mothers mostly because my God they are obsessed with their kids. Even the series opens with Maheep fretting over her daughter Shanaya’s Le Bal debut.
The biggest takeaways from the show had NOTHING to do with the wives. For me, there were two major ones. SPOILERS AHEAD. One that Janhvi Kapoor got a wish from Kylie Jenner on her birthday and second which fascinated me the most – on their trips abroad, Shah Rukh Khan would be the one to babysit all the children when the wives would go party. In fact, my favourite episode from the season was the one which had SRK. Damn that man can charm even a cactus. His witty one-liners and dry humour had me smiling throughout the episode. Gauri Khan in an Instagram post has said that she will be gatecrashing the second season and I do hope that if there is a second season, I’d like to see more of Shah Rukh in it than anyone else.
The makers of the show tried to create a desi version of Keeping up with the Kardashians meets Sex and the City, but they somehow forgot to add the main ingredient – drama. In this review, I am not even going to recommend or not recommend the show. Because I know that if you’re a Bolly freak like myself, you will still sit and spend five hours watching the eight episodes. All I’m going to say is keep your expectations low.
