  • Shah Rukh Khan steps away from Don 3

    Excitement rose when Excel Entertainment confirmed that work on the film ‘Don 3’ had started, with Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan joining ‘Don 3’. Farhan Akhtar is set to write the script while Ritesh Sidhwani will produce.

    However, Bollywood news website E Times has now reported that King Khan has decided to step away from the project, after long discussions with Akhtar and Sidhwani. The report revealed that the ‘Pathaan’ actor wasn’t keen on reprising his iconic role because it did not fit in to the kind of cinema he wants to do at the moment. Furthermore, the actor felt that the film wouldn’t help him cater to a wide-set audience, which is why he decided to exit the production of ‘Don 3.

    This news is indeed heartbreaking for fans who had grown up loving the Don franchise but currently, Akhtar is looking for an actor from the new generation of Bollywood actors who can take on the ever-loved gangster. The original script, according to media reports, had planned on bringing three generations of actors together who had played the beloved villain, Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan- and a new actor who would be the next ‘Don’.

    Looks like the apple didn’t fall far from the tree. After Suhana’s entry into the world of entertainment, Aryan Khan is set to follow in his father Shah Rukh Khan’s footsteps with his directorial debute.

    On Tuesday, the eldest son of the superstar shared a snippet of the ad of the upcoming streetwear brand ‘D’YAVOL X?’, which starred the Bollywood Badshah himself.

    The project has received praise from social media users, with plenty of applaud for Aryan’s acting and his direction skills, saying that he had a bright future ahead of him.

    Previously, Aryan had announced on his Instagram page that he had finished writing his first web series, which will be made under the banner of his family’s production house ‘Red Chillies Entertainment’.

  • ‘I was called dark and fat when I started working in the industry’: Kajol

    Bollywood actress Kajol has a long list of hits to her credit, including ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham’ (2001), ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’ (1995) and ‘Baazigar’ (1993).

    However, in an interview with ‘Humans of Bombay’ the actress talked about the struggles she faced when she started out in the film industry. Kajol, who is the daughter of yesteryears heroine Tanuja, said that she struggled to find good roles because of inappropriate comments about her skin and weight.

    “‘She is dark, she is fat and she wears specs all the time.’ These were some of the judgments that were passed when I first started working in the industry,” the ‘Dilwale’ actress recalled.

    However, Kajol, known for her feisty sense of humor and outspoken personality, revealed that she didn’t let the negativity hold her back and kept fighting hard for success.

    “I couldn’t care less. I knew I was smart, cool and better than everyone out there who had any negative thing to say about me. So, I kept continuing to be myself and never let it show. Sooner or later, when they couldn’t pull me down, the world simply embraced me for who I was.”

    Kajol had previously starred in the critically acclaimed documentary ‘The Romantics’ where she had spoken about starting as Simran in the critically acclaimed Dilwale Dulhania Le Jaien Ge (DDLJ), and revealed that initially she had found her character to be boring and couldn’t relate to her at all.

    In a Q&A fan session with Amazon Prime in celebration of ‘Pathaan’s’ release on the streaming platform, Khan watched the clip and complimented the lady on her stellar dance moves, joking that they would have removed actor Deepika Padukone and asked her to star in the movie instead.

    Khan also answered other questions from his fans, like revealing that his favorite action sequence from the film was on a frozen lake which involved motorcycles.

  • ‘I was tired of the politics [in Bollywood]’: Priyanka Chopra reveals reason why she moved to Hollywood

    Priyanka Chopra made headlines when she chose to leave Bollywood and start a career in Hollywood with the series ‘Quantico’. The star went on to act in prominent films such as ‘A Kid Like Jake’ and ‘Baywatch’.

    Talking on the podcast Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard, Chopra opened up about the reason that compelled her to leave Bollywood, revealing that the ongoing politics and feuds of the industry had worn her out:

    “I was being pushed into a corner in the industry (Bollywood). I had people not casting me, I had beef with people, I am not good at playing that game so I kind of was tired of the politics and I said I needed a break,” said the ‘Love Again’ actress. “This music thing gave me an opportunity to go into another part of the world, not crave for the movies I didn’t want to get but I would require to schmooze certain clubs and cliques of people. It would require groveling and I had worked a long time by then that I didn’t feel like I wanted to do it.”

    Chopra had started a music career in Hollywood by releasing ‘In My City’ feat Will.I.Am in 2012, and later “Exotic’ in 2013, but decided to shift from music to acting.

    “You have late nights, and early mornings, you’re travelling to a different city every day and you do it for three months,” she told People. “That’s why my music career lasted two seconds…I was not meant to do that. This rock star life is… I admire it tremendously. It’s definitely not for the weak-hearted.”

    Priyanka Chopra was recently asked to comment on Bollywood king Shah Rukh Khan’s statement about not working in Hollywood because “I am comfortable here.”

    Chopra was attending the SXSW festival where she was promoting her upcoming series Citadel. The actress and Khan had previously worked together in Don and Don 2, before she shifted to Hollywood to star in the series Quantico.

    In response to Khan’s statement, Chopra had said that she doesn’t share the same sentiments:

    “Comfort is boring to me. I am not arrogant, I am self-assured. I know what I am doing when I walk onto a set. I don’t need the validation of executives. I am willing to take auditions, I am willing to work. I do not carry the baggage of my success in one country when I walk into another country.”

    Priyanka Chopra and Shah Rukh Khan worked together in Don 1 in 2016. The two were rumoured to be romantically involved during the shoot.

    Chopra further went on to say that her father, who was from the military, had taught her to be disciplined and remain focused on her job:

    “I am very professional and if you ask people around me, I am known for my professionalism. I take pride in it. My father was in the military and he taught me the value of discipline. He taught me not to take the value of what you have been given for granted.”

    The ‘White Tiger’ actor further stressed that she was able to build a legacy for herself because of her hard work, because of which she has learned to dodge bullets and just focus on her job.

    FIR filed against Gauri Khan over purchase of Lucknow property

    An FIR has been filed against Gauri Khan, wife of Bollywood icon Shah Rukh Khan, in Uttar Pradesh’s Lucknow.
    Khan is a well-known interior designer who has worked with prominent celebrities like Farah Khan, Ranbir Kapoor and Siddharth Malhotra.

    The FIR was filed under Section 409 of the Indian penal Code which pertains to breach of trust, and was registered with the Sushant Golf City police in Lucknow.
    The complaint was filed by Kirat Jaswant Shah, a resident of Mumbai, who said that he had paid the entire amount for a flat, which was approximately Rs86 lakhs, but had not recieved it. The flat in question is located in the Tulsiani Golf View project in the Sushant Golf City area of Lucknow.
    Along with Khan, who is the brand ambassador for the housing project, other people named in the FIR include Managing Director of Tulsiyani Construction and Development Limited, Anil Kumar Tulsiyana and the director Mahesh Tulsiyana.

    Shrayana Bhattacharya, the author of “Desperately Seeking Shah Rukh Khan”, tweeted a few days ago about her fondness for singer Hasan Raheem and his song Peanut Butter. She also hoped that he would perform at a concert in India some day.

    “Never thought I’d be listening to a song titled “Peanut Butter” on loop. But here we are. After an accident on the internet introduced me to the musical smarts of @hasanraheeem , I’ll hope he’ll be in concert in India someday. #peechayhutt“

    Yesterday, Bhattacharya tweeted a picture of Raheem holding up her book, and wrote about how much this had moved her.

    “Amidst many reasons offered by the news cycle and social media to frown, this photo moved me so very much. When #DesperatelySeekingShahRukh reached the amazing artist @hasanraheeem.”

    On her Instagram stories, the author also shared the special note she had sent to Raheem:

    “Your music has helped me write and has been the soundtrack to my life recently. So much admiration. Hope you will perform in India soon.”

    Raheem later sent Shrayana a message, thanking her for the wholesome gift and promised that he would definitely perform in India some day!

    “Just got the book Shrayana, this meant a lot me. The heartwarming note that you left moved me completely. Hoping I come to India to perform for you and all my people there. Have a blessed life and meri dua hai upar wala apki har takleef door karay”

    Earlier this morning, Omar shared the video message on her Instagram page, writing in the caption:

    “Happy Valentines my all time crush @iamsrk  and thanks for these 2 seconds of your life you gave me is one of the happiest moment of my life.
    Congratulations for the success of #pathaan superstar ”

    The Current reached out to Omar, asking her she got this spectacular Valentines gift, and turns out, she just casually happens to be an aquaintance of SRK all this time.
    Omar revealed that a mutual friend, who knew about her love for the Bollywood Badshah, had later sent the video message to her.
    “He sent me this message earlier, but I just posted it today to thank him and wish my crush on Valentine and congratulated him on the success of Pathan,” said Omar.
    Omar was definitely very pleased that her favorite hero knows who she is, calling it “a fan’s dream come true ”
    She further elaborated that she would love it if more Pakistani and Indian actors are able to interact freely in this manner.
    On whether in the future if she got a chance to work with SRK or any other actor, Omar’s response was she would definately do it, and would also love a chance to work with K.K Menon.

    Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan held yet another round of #AskSRK on Twitter where among many hilarious questions was one about his relationship with his children.
    SRK has always been open about how protective he is towards his children. In an interview with David Letterman, he revealed that he made sure to spend a lot of time with them.

    ‘If there is one thing I hold against my parents, it’s that they didn’t spend a lot of time with me. Now as a father, I want to be there for my kids as much as possible. That I am going to make sure that I live very long, and I make sure that I keep on living with my kids and never let them feel they don’t have a parent. So any given moment I spend with them, I study with them, I sleep with them, I chat with them, I sort out all their problems, and I hate it when they have boyfriend girlfriend problems.”

    On Twitter when a fan asked Khan about the advice that he would always provide to his children, he replied:

    ‘The journey is important…the end is not.”
