The former national cricket team captain, Shahid Afridi, has said it is unsuitable for the cricket board to bring ‘players face to face to save themselves’.
The former captain told the media, “The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is a father to the players. I have played for the Pakistan team for 20 to 22 years, and there have been many problems during my tenure.”
He said, “Mohsin Naqvi has PCB and Ministry of Interior, so now he should decide to choose a post. If he follows the advice of the Chairman PCB Advisor, then he cannot do anything. The adviser does not know about cricket, so he will not be able to guide him in the right direction.”
Talking about India’s visit to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy, “We have been going to the cities of India in difficult situations, and we have played despite the threats, but if you don’t want to come to Pakistan, then don’t come.”
The Champions Trophy is scheduled for Pakistan in February and March 2025, but India’s arrival is yet to be confirmed.
