    A video of Bangladesh cricketer Shakib Al Hasan has gone viral in which he can be seen abusing one of his fans ago is trying to take a selfie.

    The incident took place ahead of the Dhaka Premier League (DPL) 2024 match between Sheikh Jamal Dhanmundi Club (SJDC) and Prime Bank Cricket Club.

    In the video, it can be seen that before the toss, Shakib Al Hassan is talking to the head coach, Sheikh Salahuddin. A young man tries to take a selfie with Shakib Al Hasan while Shakib Al Hasan tries to take away his mobile phone. The fan is pushed back, grabbing him by the neck, then at the same time try to slap him.

    Shakib was previously involved in controversies with players and umpires.

    In 2015, in Bangladesh Premier League, Shakib vented his anger on an umpire, after which he was banned for one match also a fine of $250 was imposed on him.

    On October 2010, Shakib threatened to hit a member of ground staff with a bat for moving the sightscreen in front of him during a Bangladesh-New Zealand ODI.

    On October 2019, Shakib was banned by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for failing to report an approach from a bookie. He returned after the ban in January 2021.

    Former Bangladesh cricket team captain Shakib-ul-Hasan has become a Member of Parliament after winning a seat in the country’s parliamentary elections on Sunday.

    Bangladesh’s famous all-rounder and former captain defeated his opponent in the Magura constituency by a margin of more than 150,000 votes.

    Shakib al Hasan participated in the election on the ticket of Awami League, the ruling party of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Wajid.

    According to reports, Hasina Wajid has also won for the 8th time from her native constituency, in an election mired by controversies and allegations of rigging.

    All the opposition parties of Bangladesh, including the BNP, completely boycotted the election based on the government’s reprisals, arrests, and punishments.

    Before the election, Shakib al Hasan expressed concern about participating in the election, saying that he could play a balanced role in cricket and politics. Shakib al Hasan has not yet retired from the sport.

    He is the only cricketer to hold the International Cricket Council (ICC) number-one all rounder ranking in all three cricket formats simultaneously.

    According to social media users, Shakib is getting hate from fans due to the poor performance of the team in the ODI World Cup 2023, where they managed to win only two matches out of nine.

    X (former Twitter) user posted, “Bangladeshi fans were angry with Shakib Al Hasan, and they tried to confront him upon his return to Bangladesh after a poor World Cup campaign.

    Fans were also angry about the controversial call for a time-out that Shakib raised on Angelo Mathews.

    Bangladesh managed to take the 8th spot in the World Cup and make their place in the Champions Trophy 2025 which will be hosted by Pakistan.

    Reality:

    This video was actually from a commercial event in Dubai. Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan was manhandled during this event, where fans were trying to take selfies with him while some of them also pulled him by his collar after which he almost fell over.
