    Famed Baloch folk singer Wasu Khan passes away

    Famed Baloch singer Wasu Khan passed away Friday morning. According to his family, the singer was suffering from a prolonged illness and was admitted to a private hospital in Sukkur where he died.

    Khan was known for his collaborations with pop singer Shehzad Roy for the show ‘Wasu Aur Mein’ on Geo which explored how the two met. Roy first stumbled across Wasu’s viral Youtube video in 2012 and then began collaborating on songs with him.

    The ‘Laga Re’ singer dedicated a post to Khan and called him someone with ‘great political intellect’, and shared a clip of their song ‘Apney Uloo’.

    “Wasu Khan passed away this morning. He was unable to read and write, but had great political intellect and wrote political satire. We will miss him. Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un #WasuKhan”

    Pakistani singer, social activist and discoverer of the fountain-of-youth, Shehzad Roy, posted his latest picture on Twitter, leaving fans going gaga over him.

    Minutes after the picture was posted on the social website, Twitterati questioned Roy if he would ever age.

    Nobel Laureate and Women’s Education Rights Activist Malala Yousafzai visited the Pakistani pavilion at the Dubai Expo 2020. She was accompanied by her husband Asser Malik and parents.

    Malala took to Twitter to share pictures. “My family and I attended Expo 2020 Pak and saw exhibits celebrating Pakistan’s culture, faith, landscapes and people. I hope everyone who visits will be inspired to learn more about our beautiful country,” she wrote, while sharing pictures.

    Singer Shehzad Roy was also there and shared pictures. In one of the pictures Asser Malik can be seen apparently accepting his defeat in Tic Tac Toe.

    A video of Malala at the Expo was posted on the Pakistan pavilion’s official Twitter page.

    The post read, “The Pakistan Pavilion is honoured to have Pakistani activist for female education and Nobel Prize winner Malala Yousafzai, her husband Malik Asser, and her family visit our Pavilion today.”

    Shehzad Roy becomes ambassador for population and family planning

    A Pakistani singer and social activist, Shehzad Roy has been appointed by the government as an honorary brand ambassador for population and family planning.

    The Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations, and Coordination issued the notification in which it stated that the decision was taken in the meeting of the federal task force of population presided by the President of Pakistan, Dr Arif Alvi.

    The singer has voiced his opinion on different occasions against societal issues such as corporal punishment against children and child abuse.

    He is running a successful non-governmental foundation, Zindagi Trust to promote education among underprivileged children. Under his philanthropist work, he upgraded government schools and introduced state of art playgrounds to promote sports and modern education with the scientific approach.

    According to the website, he reformed two Karachi schools SMB Fatima Jinnah Government Girls School and Khatoon-e-Pakistan Government Girls School where children belonging to various ethnic and religious backgrounds are studying together.

    He was also awarded Sitar-e-Imtiaz by the Government of Pakistan in recognition for his philanthropist work in 2005.

    He recently released the soulful Music Video, ‘Maula Vey’ featuring Syra Yousuf in which he conveyed the message to get vaccinated to protect your loved ones against coronavirus.

    Shehzad Roy corrects Anupam Kher over video claim

    Singer and social activist Shehzad Roy corrected Bollywood actor Anupam Kher on Friday over a viral video claim.

    Roy had earlier shared the same video on August 11, which was shared by the Bollywood actor. Kher wrongly claimed that video was from an Indian village; the video is actually from Hunza, Pakistan.

    On Friday, Roy re-tweeted Kher’s post, thanking him for his concern and appreciation for the talent.

    “Thanks for sharing the video I shared a few days back. You say that these talented kids are from Bharat, a humble correction, these kids are in fact from Hunza, Pakistan. I am in touch with them and have sent them all the musical instruments they need,” Teri Soorat singer tweeted.

    Kher responded to Roy’s tweet and admitted he stands corrected.

    “Dear @ShehzadRoy ! I stand corrected my friend. I loved the video. Keep up the great work you are doing with these kids!! Love and prayers always!!”

    Shehzad Roy thanked Anupam Kher and said he will keep him “updated about these lovely group of kids and their music”.

    A netizen recommended him on twitter to start a skincare line as the Mukhra singer still looks younger than his ‘age’.

    “If he ever starts a line of anti-ageing products, it would be a global blockbuster. This man hasn’t aged a day since 2000,” the tweet read.

    To which, the Dholna crooner humorously replied, “Come on yaar, 20 saal ki umar sab loug aesay hi lagtay hain but if you insist you can suggest a name for this anti-ageing product.”

    Former Pakistani cricket team captain Shahid Afridi was invited on Ahsan Khan’s talk show, Time Out with Ahsan khan along with singer Shehzad Roy. The sports star appealed the Mukhra singer that he should get TikTok banned for the betterment of the society.

    Shahid highlighted that the app is being misused by civilians and can be accessed in regions of the country where the literacy rate is insufficient for the users to understand the importance of using the app correctly.

    “You raise voice for everything, get TikTok banned as well,” Afridi asked the Ya Rabb singer.

    In response to Afridi’s demand, Shehzad Roy asked why he wants the app to be banned.

    “In most of our remote areas, WiFi reached before education,” the cricketer answered.

    He added that there have been multiple incidents due to TikTok. The all-rounder also expressed his displeasure over the usage of mobile phone by kids and mentioned that his daughter got a phone after turning nineteen.

    Singer and activist Shehzad Roy responded to a strange marriage proposal on social media with a witty response.

    Roy shared a photo of a cup of green tea and sweets on Twitter with the caption: “One must always prefer green tea over mithaee, kyoonkay zindagi mein jo thori khushi mil sakti thi, wo bhi na milay.”

    One female fan responded to Roy’s tweet by proposing to him. “I will make you green tea every day with my blood please marry me.”

    Roy’s hilarious answer was quite a hit. He tweeted, “Please don’t say such things otherwise people will start calling me a vampire.”

    Some Twitter users compared Shehzad Roy to Keanu Reeves who doesn’t age after his vampire comment.

    “A boy came up to me for a selfie, not wearing a mask,” shared Roy on social media.

    He continued: “I asked him to step back. [A] minute later his father came angrily and told me off for being rude. I told him, its for [the] boy’s safety.”

    “The father of the boy replied: ‘Itna nuqsan toh is buchay ko corona say bhi nahi hota, jitna tum nay is ka dil dukha kay kiya hai’,” said the singer.

    According to NCOC, Pakistan has recorded 4318 cases of the virus in last 24 hours while 118 people have lost their lives.

    Prime Minister Imran Khan on March 20 tested positive for COVID-19. According to details, the premier is suffering from ‘mild symptoms’ and is self-isolating at home. PM Khan’s wife Bushra Bibi has also tested positive for the virus.

    Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Health Dr Faisal Sultan, while talking to the media, said that they “are monitoring his clinical parameters, and medical treatment will be given to him if required.”

    “Right now, there is no need for any treatment, as such,” added Dr Sultan.

    Soon after the news of PM Imran testing positive spread, prayers started pouring in for his speedy recovery. Among those who sent him good wishes include Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of Sri Lanka, Mahinda Rajapaksa, Maulana Tariq Jamil, PPP co-chairperson Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari and PML-N’s Ahsan Iqbal.

    “Best wishes to PM Imran for a speedy recovery from COVID-19,” said PM Modi.

    “Our thoughts and prayers are with him during this time of difficulty,” said PM Rajapaksa.

    “May Allah grant him full and speedy recovery,” said Maulana Tariq Jamil.

    PPP’s BBZ and Sherry Rehman and PML-N’s Ahsan Iqbal also prayed for the PM’s swift recovery.

    PM Khan’s former teammates Wasim Akram, Ramiz Raja and Waqar Younis also prayed for his swift recovery.
