    ‘If people voted on basis of performance, PTI wouldn’t have won KP’

    Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Sher Afzal Marwat has once again criticised his party leadership over unsatisfactory performance in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) where it is currently in power for the third consecutive term.


    Addressing a workers’ convention in Abbottabad, the PTI leader pointed out the lack of facilities in the province and said that had people voted on the basis of performance, PTI would never have come to power again.


    Marwat also highlighted the persisting security situation, backwardness and lack of infrastructure in KP. “We cannot label backwardness as progress nor can we term deception as the truth.”


    “The people of KP have voted for PTI three times in a row and now it is the PTI’s turn to deliver for the people of the province,” Marwat stressed. He also suggested that party leadership must accept past mistakes and realise that party performance was not up to the mark in KP.


    Marwat, who is known for his candid and brut remarks, even against his own party, often faces backlashes for his statements both within and without the PTI.


    In May, Marwat was kicked out of PTI’s core and political committees on the direction of party founder Imran Khan following his remarks about Saudi Arabia. Marwat, in an interview, had alleged that Saudia Arabia was behind Khan’s ouster from power.


    In August, PTI’s official handle on X, formerly Twitter, announced the cancellation of Marwat’s basic party membership for a “gross violation/ breach” of discipline.


    While the notification had gone viral, PTI chief Barrister Gohar Ali Khan had termed it “fake”.


    “The notification regarding the cancellation of Sher Afzal Marwat’s membership is fake. It’s not possible,” Gohar had said, hinting at possible differences within the party leadership over Marwat’s fate.


    The notification also claimed that Marwat had been directed to “restrict himself and his statements to within the limitation as outlined in the letter. A committee was also set up to monitor his statements, media appearances and tweets.”


    The recent-most controversy surrounding Marwat also involved PTI leader Salman Akram Raja.
    “Sher Afzal Marwat must control himself. We are giving him a chance if he wants to play a role in the party. If he does not show discipline, we will take action,” Raja had said.


    Marwat, on the other hand, claims that his relation with PTI founder and former prime minister Imran Khan remains “strong as ever”.

    In yet another controversy, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) maverick leader Sher Afzal Marwat blamed overseas PTI protestors’ targeting of state institutions for the predicaments of former Prime Minister Imran Khan.

    “We have been subjected to unsurmountable oppression – what is the reason behind it? This punishment being given to us is due to the inexcusable actions of PTI’s digital media followers,” remarked Marwat on ABN News. 

    “If they protest within limits and do not hurl abuses at Pakistan’s state institutions. We have never given them permission to abuse our state institutions using PTI’s platform. Believe me, even this Iddat case that was made up against Khan – that case was a direct consequence of those overseas digital adventurists. They named and hurled abuses at Pakistan Army Generals, and made up fake scandals of actresses, which is why we suffered,” revealed Sher Afzal Marwat.

    Marwat, known for being outspoken, often faces challenges from within his party. In May 2024, Marwat was kicked out of PTI’s core and political committees on the direction of party founder Imran Khan following his remarks about Saudi Arabia. Marwat, in an interview, alleged that the Kingdom of Saudia Arabia was behind Khan’s ouster from power.

    Then, in August this year, PTI official page on X, formerly Twitter, announced the cancellation of the basic party membership of maverick leader Sher Afzal Marwat for a “gross violation/ breach” of discipline.

    Yet confusion spread quickly when PTI chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan termed the notification “fake.”

    “The notification regarding the cancellation of Sher Afzal Marwat’s membership is fake. It’s not possible,” stated Gohar, clearly signalling rifts within the party leadership over Marwat’s future.

    In the notification, it was said that Marwat was on notice and was asked to “restrict himself, and his statements to within the limitation as outlined in the letter. A committee was set up to monitor his statements, media appearances and tweets.”

    Furthermore, the last controversy took place when Marwat was called out by PTI’s Salman Akram Raja when he said, “Sher Afzal Marwat must control himself; we are giving him a chance if he wants to play a role in the party if he does not show discipline, we will take action.”

    It all started when Sher Afzal Marwat while talking to Matiullah Jan, stated that he did not vote for the Hamid Khan group in the recent Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) elections. “I did not want to vote for Hamid Khan’s candidates in the SCBA, neither did I want to vote for the other group’s candidates, so I did not vote,” said Marwat.

    Matiullah Jan, with a surprising reaction, asked Marwat whether his action put PTI at a disadvantage. 

    He replied: “How did I put PTI at a disadvantage? Hamid Khan passes some statements or other arguments against me. He should be thankful that I did not campaign against his candidates; otherwise, I could have had 30-40 votes. Nobody came to me to ask for any votes.”

    In a deleted post on X, Marwat wrote: “I am very saddened by the statement issued by Mr Salman Akram Raja adv against me. I was willing to work with you, but neither you are my boss nor do you have any authority to control me. Please bear in mind for all times I am only answerable to Khan sb and Chairman Barrister Gohar. Nobody else matters. Thank you.”

    Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Sher Afzal Marwat on Sunday regretted his party’s intense dependence on ex-spymaster General (retd) Faiz Hameed’s policy towards the relocation of Fitna al Khawarij ( Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan) within Pakistan.

    “Hamari matt mari gai thi kay General Faiz Hammed hamara pasandida banda tha,” Sher Afzal Marwat regretfully said while talking to Samaa’s Absar Alam.

    General Faiz Hameed and former Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa were involved in the “TTP’s resettlement in Pakistan,” insisted Sher Afzal Marwat.


    Days after the United States (US) forces withdrew from Afghanistan, the former Director General (DG) of Inter-Service Intelligence (ISI), Gen Faiz Hameed, visited Kabul, Afghanistan’s capital, on September 4, 2021.

    Speaking to the News5 channel, Hameed smilingly said, “Don’t worry, everything will be okay.” 

    The terrorist group, during the PTI’s federal government, reportedly returned to the northern districts of Buner, Bajaur and Mohmand, and forced local businesses to pay protection money.

    PTI allegedly helped the Fitna by relocating them to western Pakistan, and the ex-spymaster was the key player in that development.

    On Feb 2, 2023, the founder of PTI, Imran Khan, in an address, defended the resettlement of the terrorists in Pakistan from Afghanistan, noting, “The PTI government had two options: either kill all of them or reach an agreement with them and allow them to settle in the province. These returning fighters had many issues that needed to be resolved for peace in the province.”

    “When the Afghan war ended, some 30,000 to 40,000 Pakistani tribal fighters wanted to come back,” Khan said and clarified that all stakeholders were on board regarding the resettlement of terrorists in Pakistan.


    When asked about PTI’s lack of effort in protesting against the deteriorated law and order situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Sher Afzal Marwat claimed: “It is the duty of security institutions” to restore law and order rather than political parties.

    Meanwhile, commenting on the ongoing teachers’ protest in the KP province, Marwat claimed that teachers can protest as long as they want, and it is their “right” to protest.

    Teachers have been protesting at Jinnah Park Peshawar against the provincial government for more than five days for not upgrading their pay scale from BPS 12 to BPS 14.

    Moreover, teachers are demanding permanent posts for those teachers who were hired in 2022 by the provincial government on a contract basis.

    Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders are once again airing their dirty laundry in public view; this time, the brawl is between Secretary General Salman Akram Raja and maverick Sher Afzal Marwat.

    It all started when Sher Afzal Marwat, while talking to Matiullah Jan, stated that he did not vote for Hamid Khan group in the recent Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) elections.

    “I did not want to vote for Hamid Khan’s candidates in the SCBA, neither did I want to vote for the other group’s candidates, so I did not vote,” said Marwat.

    Marwat the Maverick has seen his star wane after constant battles within the party forced him to leave the centre stage. The media’s darling, Marwat, landed in hot water with his colleagues over his outspokenness in the early part of this year.

    In his recent attack on PTI, Marwat alleged last week that the KP government, led by Ali Amin Gandapur, did not want Imran Khan to be released from jail. A day later, he said Ali’s actions could pave the way for Governor Raj in the province.

    This isn’t the first time that the PTI leaders have been witnessed fighting with each other. Last month when, PTI’s Hammad Azhar insisted that the protest be held despite the SCO starting on the same day. Gandapur replied: “You are in hiding yourself yet you are telling party members to come out and protest.” He then pointed his guns towards PTI Punjab. “I came to Islamabad twice [to protest] but PTI Punjab leadership could not be found anywhere.”

    Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) lawmaker Sher Afzal Marwat has suggested handing over the authority of holding party protests to someone else in place of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister (CM) Ali Amin Gandapur, fearing that existing practice could lead to imposition of governor’s rule in the province.

    “I have no disagreement with Ali Amin Gandapur and I, in fact, admire him. However, Ali Amin is the CM and other parties, including Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), unfairly benefit from his involvement in the protest,” Marwat said while speaking to a private media outlet.

    Expressing concern over the possible imposition of governor’s rule in KP, Marwat said that the federal government, on the pretext of using provincial government’s machinery in PTI’s protest, could impose governor’s rule.

    Marwat stated that PTI leadership should take the lead in the protests instead of Ali Amin Gandapur. “We can benefit from Gandapur’s support.”

    He also stressed the need for the formation of a committee to plan party protests.

    “Our priority should be the release of PTI founder Imran Khan from jail,” he said.

    Hours after Yahya Afridi was sworn in as the 30th chief justice of Pakistan (CJP), Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and lawmaker Sher Afzal Khan Marwat has praised him for his neutral role and for being balanced.

    Speaking to media in Islamabad, Marwat said that he had appeared before Yahya Afridi for more than 20 years, and he was an “extremely balanced judge”.

    “I offer my congratulations to Yahya Afridi for the CJP role, and PTI was not opposed to his appointment as CJP,” he said.

    “Our only issue was that the principle of seniority should not be violated in the appointment of the apex court’s top judge,” Marwat said while clarifying his party’s concerns over the appointment of the third senior-most judge as the CJP instead of senior-most Justice Mansoor Ali Shah.

    Earlier in the day, Justice Yahya Afridi was sworn in as the new CJP following the retirement of Justice Qazi Faez Isa. Justice Afridi was nominated by a special parliamentary committee formed under the 26th Amendment.

    The committee consisted of 12 members, including eight from the National Assembly and four from the Senate, who nominated Justice Afridi as the next CJP. After President Asif Ali Zardari’s assent, Yahya Afridi was officially appointed as the first CJP under new SC rules.

    As Saturday’s protest by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) petered out to after Chief Minister (CM) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Ali Amin Gandapur went to KP House instead of D-Chowk in Islamabad, followers of the party turned their ire towards absent PTI leaders.

    PTI leadership including bigwigs Ali Muhammad Khan, former speaker of National Assembly Asad Qaiser, opposition leader Omer Ayub Khan and Sher Afzal Khan Marwat were all slammed by party supporters for not being present at the protest.

    Social media users trolled PTI leadership by asking, “Were they doing work from home?”

    Marwat replied to the criticism on X (formerly Twitter) by stating that he is seriously ill: “I am feeling pain and embarrassment to tell my loved ones that my health is not getting better.”

    “My liver test and other tests were not normal and my health is deteriorating day by day,” he wrote.

    He said that he is trying to stabilise his health so that he can go back to being the way he was, “the way you liked me.” But, he stressed again that he gets fever every day which goes away. “My health is deteriorating fast,” he stated.

    “Main apnay mulk kay liye, apnay murshad Imran Khan kay liye or Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) kay liye buhat kuch karna chahta hu.” he added.

    The only big name to be making his way towards the protest, CM KP Ali Amin Gandapur, also did not reach D-Chowk. A day after pulling a mysterious disappearance, he arrived at the provincial assembly yesterday, while many PTI supporters remained in Islamabad.

    Clarifying rumors about his whereabouts amid the federal capital and Ranger’s raid at the provincial house, Gandapur claimed that he was hiding in KP House, but police were unable to discover him.

    Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) leader and National Assembly member Sher Afzal Marwat has been released after being held for a short time by Islamabad police on Thursday.

    According to the details, he was detained near Tarnol Jalsa Gah, along with 16 PTI workers.

    PTI has announced the postponement of the rally scheduled for Thursday in Tarnool. After that, the administration issued a new No Objection Letter (NOC) to PTI for a rally on September 8. The police have imposed Section 144, and a heavy police force is present at the Tarnool rally.

    Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Member National Assembly (MNA) Sher Afzal Marwat has returned to the party after meeting with former Prime Minister Imran Khan at Adiala Jail.
    ‘’All misunderstandings have with party members are over, and Imran Khan has clearly pointed out that no grouping in the party and disagreement is acceptable,’’ Marwat said while addressing media outside Adiala Jail.

    He further stated, ’’Imran Khan has made me responsible for holding protests nationwide along with the August 22 jalsa’’.
    He also pointed out that we would develop all the strategies regarding protests so that if May 9 happened again, Khan will not be charged.
