Desi mothers-in-law have to be impressed by prospective bahus, and being a Bollywood A-list actress won’t spare you from the ordeal.

While doing press rounds for promoting her film ‘Satyaprem Ki Katha’, Kiara Advani told Mirchi Puls about how she bonded with her mother-in-law, Sidharth Malhotra’s mother, with the help of an unusual dish.

Advani, well known for her love of pani-puri, known in Pakistan as gol gappay, said that she learned how to make the dish for the first day she visited Mumbai:

“Of course. Meri mother-in-law jo hain, unko pani puri itna pasand hai! Woh abhi humare saath reh rahi hain, Mumbai mein aayi hui hain Delhi se. So, on her first day, mujhe pata hai ki unko pani puri kitna pasand hai, I said aaj ghar mein hum pani puri banayenge. Jo maska lagaya… I knew she will love me to another level. She was so happy.”

Sidharth and Kiara, who starred together in ‘Shershaah’ in 2021, got married in February in a star-studded wedding with celebrities like Karan Johar, Juhi Chawla and Shahid Kapoor in attendance. In a previous interview, Advani spoke about how happy she was in her bride era, and called Sidharth her home:

“I got married recently, and it was a love marriage. So naturally, I believe in true love. A home is made by two people and I feel incredibly lucky that my partner, the man I have chosen, my husband is also my best friend. He is my everything, my home. Wherever I am, he is my family, my home.”

  • A wholesome detail in Kiara and Sidharth’s wedding has fans swooning

The wedding of Bollywood actors Sidhart Malhotra and Kiara Advani was the most anticipated event of the year, with millions of fans around the world flocking to send their well wishes to the new couple as soon as they uploaded a video on Instagram.

But what fans realized later was the inclusion of the song ‘Ranjha’ in the wedding video, which had previously been used in the film ‘Sheershah’ where both starred as star-crossed lovers in the backdrop of the Kargil war.

The iconic song ‘Ranjha’, sung by Jasleen Royal and B Praak, was originally about the heartbreak both characters had to endure when they parted ways because of the war,. However, fans were deeply moved to find out that the song was re-written for the bride’s entry.

The filming team “The Wedding Planner” shared exclusive details revealed that the couple chose ‘Ranjha’ as their song, so they called some people to re write it in order to fit their day!

‘Very few humans are so generous with their love that they are willing to share it with the world. She wanted to walk towards Sidharth on ‘Ranjha’, which is their song. “But it’s a sad song!” I argued. “But it’s our song!” She maintained! So we rewrote the lyrics with respect to fit the situation we were in, and suddenly, everyone’s dreams came true! ‘

Prerna Arora and Ashwani Basoya, who sang the new version, shared clips of the wedding on their Instagram page, and thanked the Bollywood stars for including them in their big day.

“I feel really happy and honoured to share this with you all. ❤️ Recorded my vocals for @kiaraaliaadvani and @sidmalhotra wedding day song – “Ranjha”
As we say, it was a happy ending for Shershaah and Dimple in the parallel universe..” wrote Arora

“Every wonderful opportunity in my life is just Grace ✨
Thankful and grateful to have sung a happier version of YOUR song for you both @kiaraaliaadvani @sidmalhotra. It’s an honour to be a small part of your beautiful Love.
Wishing you a lifetime of Love and Happiness ! ❤️” wrote Basoya

The lyricist Shraddha Sehgal, had shared the song lyrics of ‘Ranjha’ on her Instagram page.

  • ‘Distasteful and factually incorrect’: Adnan Siddiqui lashes out at Sidharth Malhotra’s ‘Mission Majnu’

‘Distasteful and factually incorrect’: Adnan Siddiqui lashes out at Sidharth Malhotra’s ‘Mission Majnu’

Actor Adnan Siddiqui has commented about Bollywood’s misrepresentation of Pakistanis in their films. The recent Bollywood movie Mission Majnu became a trolling affair as the film stereotyped Pakistanis.

While many rightly called out the makers of the propaganda film on Twitter, Siddiqui took to Instagram and shared his two cents on the matter. “How much misrepresentation is too much misrepresentation?” he asked his followers on Instagram.

Adding on, the actor, who starred in Bollywood offering Mom, alongside late superstar Sridevi and Sajal Ali, commented, “I mean come on, with all the money you have, hire some good researchers to do homework on us. Or allow me to help. Make sure to take notes—no, we don’t wear skull caps, surma, tawiz; no, we don’t ask janab about their mijaz; no, we don’t go around throwing adaab.”

Siddiqui went on to comment, “There’s so much in Mission Majnu that’s distasteful and factually incorrect. The hero’s saviour complex would’ve been accentuated more if the villain was shown at par. A weak antagonist embellishes an even weaker protagonist.”

He concluded, “Poor story, poorer execution, poorest research. Next time, come and visit us. We are good hosts. Will show you how we look like, dress up and live.”

Malhotra previously addressed stereotyping of Pakistanis and India’s knack for making films on this side of the border. When asked if his character in the film helps perpetuate stereotypes of Pakistanis in Hindi films, the actor told Film Companion, “We have consciously made an effort in the writing that it is never to take on a particular community. I recently did a film called Shershaah, which is based on India and Pakistan, and the battle that we had, which was documented.”

He added, “Once you see the film, consciously we never really concentrated, barring maybe four scenes on the other side (Pakistan), it was purely about this side (India) and this man’s journey, (Army captain) captain Vikram Batra sacrificing his life… So there is the same conscious effort (with Mission Majnu), and there is no personal animosity with anyone, these are just documented historical points, which we will never get complete facts of, so for that, you need to establish possibly certain characters in an x amount of time.”

The actor further responded about certain scenes in the trailer and added, “And the shots they are referring to (from the trailer) are meant to be tongue-in-cheek in the film. So, I think it will be a fair dialogue once everyone sees the film… it is never about a community or taking a dig, which digresses from the film… a religion or a community is never an issue in the film.”

Sidharth Malhotra's Mission Majnu slammed by pakistani actor

There has been a steady rise in Bollywood film productions which often overtly or covertly portray an anti-Pakistan sentiment. Malhotra’s Mission Majnu isn’t Bollywood’s first attempt at wrongly depicting Pakistan and history. His Student of the Year co-star, Alia Bhatt, too, essayed a spy in the 2018 film, Raazi. One such film released in 2021, Bhuj: The Pride of India, which stars Ajay Devgan in the lead role, ironically features a rendition of Madam Noor Jehan’s iconic song Zaalima CocaCola.

Films portraying an anti-Pakistan narrative gained traction after the Uri attacks in 2016. Uri: The Surgical Strike, starring Vicky Kaushal was one of the first military-inspired films showing Pakistan in a negative light. While Akshay Kumar’s spy thriller Bell Bottom, inspired by the hijackings of Indian Airline flights in the 80s, was banned from screening in KSA, Kuwait and Qatar. The countries in question deemed the film to be unfit for exhibition.

‘Let’s go Rajasthan’: Kiara Advani, Sidharth Malhotra’s wedding details revealed

Bollywood actors Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani had successfully kept their relationship under wraps for quite a long time. But it was Karan Johar who made them confess that they were more than just ‘good friends’ on Koffee With Karan Season 7.

As per the latest media reports,  the couple’s wedding festivities will begin in the first week of February at the Jaisalmer Palace Hotel in Rajasthan. According to a report by ETimes, Malhotra and Advani will get married in the first week of February and the pre-wedding functions will reportedly take place on February 4 and 5 during which the groom and bride’s families will host traditional events like mehndi, haldi, and sangeet ceremonies.

It has also been reported that the big day will be held the next day on February 6, which is expected to be a grand affair, perhaps even a destination wedding. A source told ETimes, “The wedding is slated to take place at Jaisalmer Palace Hotel. It is going to be a lavish event with high security.”

The report also claimed that a group of security personnel and bodyguards will be sent to the hotel in Rajasthan a day before the pre-wedding festivities begin.

According to Pinkvilla, Malhotra and Advani were spotted outside ace fashion designer Manish Malhotra’s store where the Juggjugg Jeeyo star was all smiles.

While wedding rumours run rampant, the couple was spotted at the Mumbai airport on Thursday.

Kiara and Sidharth met for the first time at the wrap-up party of Lust Stories (2018). They struck the chords in no time and their on-screen love was widely reflected in their sizzling chemistry in Shershaah. Shahid Kapoor and Karan Johar were very keen on Advani’s marriage and even declared that she seemed ready during their conversation at KWK.

Allegedly the couple was earlier to get married in Goa but due to the inconvenience it will cause their families to travel from Chandigarh and Delhi, the plan was dropped.
