A video of policemen in Rajanpur eating a snake after grilling it is going viral on social media. As per details, the cops seen in the video belong to the Rapid Response Force.

The video shows several police officers in Ghotki using their survival skills to catch a regular cobra. The snake was subsequently stripped of its skin and cooked on coals, using the metal rod from an AK-47 assault rifle as a skewer.

“It tastes like fish,” said one of the cops.

“We have been trained to eat snakes to fulfil our protein needs as snakes are a very good source of protein,” said another cop.

The police officers are involved in a mission to drive out criminal gangs who are taking refuge in the lush vegetation that thrives along the rivers in Sindh. These areas are used as hiding places criminals including those involved in abduction for ransom, murder and armed robbery.

  • Snake on a plane: Pilot makes emergency landing after finding cobra on board

“To be truly honest, it’s as if my brain did not register what was going on,” Rudolph Erasmus, the pilot said to BBC.

“I told them: ‘Listen, the snake is underneath my seat. It is inside the cockpit, so we are going to have to execute a landing as fast as possible,” said Erasmus while talking about how he handled the situation.

He first thought the cold feeling on his back was his water bottle, however as he turned to the left and looked down, “I saw the cobra receding its head backwards underneath the seat.”

The plane was going from Bloemfontein to Pretoria. Along with the serpent, the private aircraft, a Beechcraft Baron 58, was carrying four passengers.

Classic Nokia game ‘Snake’ turns 25 this month

This month marks the 25th anniversary of the classic Snake game, which debuted in July 1997 on the Nokia 6110. Despite the fact that mobile games have evolved, sporting cutting-edge graphics, fans of Nokia still recall Snake.

Before games like Candy Crush and Subway Surfers, this was the game that kept players glued to their phones for hours. Since many millennials played it as one of their very first games, it brings back memories for them. The game’s ease of play and the anger at defeat made it extremely addictive.

A snake that grew as it consumed food was under the player’s control. To get a high score, the snake had to keep picking food while avoiding contact with its own body or any other obstacles.

“You’d always want to come back for more with Snake — it’s simple and it frustrates you in a carefully balanced way, so you’re willing to start again from scratch each time,” said game developer William Cox.

“It is iconic and part of the history of the games industry,” he added.

Snake was a single-player arcade game that was designed after the two-player arcade game Blockade.

  • Wife dies after snake bite, court finds husband is the murderer

Wife dies after snake bite, court finds husband is the murderer

An additional sessions court in Kollam found a man guilty of killing his wife by making a cobra bite her while she was asleep. CNN recently shared the background history of how toxic the marriage was, how they got married and what the demands of the in-laws after the marriage as “Uthra was someone who never saw bad in anyone”.

According to the judgment, Kumar’s parents demanded Uthra’s parents pay for household appliances, a car, furniture, renovation work, and admission fees for an MBA course for Kumar’s sister.

“Uthra was someone who never saw bad in anyone,” Vishu said. “Her learning disability meant she didn’t have the means to see that she was being used.”

Uthra’s father told the court he met all of Kumar’s demands and also paid him 8,000 rupees ($107) per month to take care of his daughter.
But Kumar grew “dissatisfied” with Uthra’s learning disability, according to the judgment.

He began to plot her death.

The prosecution submitted that Sooraj, 27, killed Uthra, 25, last year for her gold jewellery, and to marry another woman. The court found Sooraj guilty under IPC Sections 302 (murder), 307 (attempt to murder), 328 (causing hurt by poison) and 201 (causing disappearance of evidence of offence) in May 2020.

Uthra spent 52 days in Pushpagiri Hospital in the Kerala town of Thiruvalla recovering from the viper bite, and when she was finally released to her parent’s care on April 22 2020, she was unable to walk.

As she lay in bed, her leg bandaged after skin grafts, Sooraj decided to strike.

On May 6, just 15 days after she had left hospital, he smuggled another snake that he had bought from snake handler Chavarukavu Suresh into her parent’s house. This time it was a cobra.

Before going to bed, Kumar gave Uthra a glass of juice laced with sedatives, according to the judgment. As she slept, Kumar threw the serpent at her, but the reptile didn’t bite, so he grabbed its head and forced its fangs deep into her left arm twice.

Despite his efforts to make it appear as an accident, a number of clues suggested the bites weren’t natural from the width of the fang marks, the position of the bites, and the impossibility that the cobra had entered the room on its own.

Police exhumed the cobra and conducted an autopsy to confirm that the same snake had bit Uthra.

The snake-handler Suresh was also arrested for allegedly supplying the snakes to Sooraj.

VIDEO: 10-foot-long python slides through grocery store racks

A grocery store turned into a snake rescue in Australia when a 10-foot-long non-venomous python slid through the racks to greet a woman customer.

The 25-year-old, Helaina Alati, was at a Sydney store on Monday when the snake slithered out.

Alati was not expecting a snake at the supermarket. But fortunately for both parties, Alati is a wildlife rescuer and familiar with snakes.

“I just turned my head and he was about 20cm from my face, just looking straight at me,” she told the BBC.

She did a double-take but stayed calm. No one else was around. Recognising it instantly as a diamond python, Alati knew it wasn’t poisonous as it protruded and flicked its tongue.

After recording a video, Alati alerted staff and told them she could help them get it out.

She retrieved a snake bag from her home, returned to the store, “tapped him on the tail and he just slithered in”.

She then released it away from houses in bushland – a natural habitat for the species around Sydney.

A forest officer in Madurai district said the agriculture worker had been prompted to eat the snake by other people. He had been drunk at the time of the incident.

Fortunately, the man didn’t bite into the venom glands of the snake, identified as a common krait, a species of highly venomous reptiles native to the Indian subcontinent.

Its venom consists of powerful neurotoxins that can even be fatal for humans if not treated. The reptile had been found dead in a drain, the forest officer said.

  • PTI Sindh leader kills snake in jail cell; PPP govt accused of ‘hatching conspiracies’

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) lawmaker and leader of opposition in Sindh Assembly, Haleem Adil Sheikh, has killed a snake that appeared in his jail cell, the MPA’s spokesperson confirmed.

“A poisonous snake appeared in the room of Haleem Adil Sheikh, which was pinpointed by a servant who went there to deliver breakfast,” Sheikh’s spokesperson Muhammad Ali Baloch said on Thursday.

“After seeing the snake, Sheikh killed it,” Baloch said, adding that the presence of the snake in his boss’s room puts a question mark on the performance of Sindh police.

He went on to say that conspiracies were being hatched against Sheikh as “police have become a slave to the ruling Pakistan People’s Party (PPP)”.

The statements were followed by Additional Inspector General of Police (AIG) Karachi Ghulam Nabi Memon seeking a report from authorities concerned regarding the appearance of the snake.

AIG Memon telephoned DIG (CIA) Arif Hanif, ordered him to investigate the matter and submit a report at the earliest.

Meanwhile, an anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Karachi has sent the PTI leader to jail on judicial remand till February 25.

The ATC was hearing the case related to aerial firing and disturbance during Karachi’s PS-88 by-election on February 16, in the aftermath of which Sheikh had been placed under police custody.
