Faryal shared another post of an Israeli commentator on her Instagram account who attempted to sway her support for Palestine by writing that Hamas was behind the controversial hospital attack in Gaza. Faryal shut the user down with a list of facts that proved the attack was by Israel.

Egyptian influencer Dina Tokio shared a similar message she received on Whatsapp and condemned this by writing “typical behavior”.

  • Wes Anderson in DI Khan? Believe it (or not)

It’s true that there are a lot of reasons to be miserable in Pakistan right now: inflation, political instability, religious conflicts, the list keeps going.

But it’s heartwarming to witness how talented Pakistani people are that they keep blowing us away with their creativity and sense of humor, such as a new trend that is re-imagining what Wes Anderson films would look like if instead of the West, they were shot in Pakistan.

A social media user reimagined how Anderson’s film would look like in a village in Dera Ismail Khan.

    The result: mindblowing.

Another video that kick started the trend was when a man decided to re-imagine how the iconic Hollywood director’s film would be shot if he landed in Chitral-and seriously we would love to pitch these ideas ourselves to Anderson.

Twitter users are blown away by the creativity and honestly we agree with all of them. Let’s start calling directors like Martin Scorsese and Quentin Tarantino to Pakistan!

  • ‘Socho thorda sa’: Indian singer Shaan reacts to backlash over Eid post

On Saturday, Bollywood playback singer Shaan Mukherjee wished Eid Mubarak to his Muslim fans by posting a picture of himself wearing a white shalwar kameez and prayer cap. However, the picture got backlash from extremist Indian trolls, to the point that the singer decided to restrict comments on his post.

Now, the ‘It’s The Time To Disco’ singer has addressed the reaction, calling for his audience to be more empathetic and kind towards each other as both Muslims and Hindus celebrated their religious festivals on the same day this year.

Fans in Pakistan and India have applauded Mukherjee’s empathetic and sensible post, a rare move in the time when religious extremism is rising in India, as the BJP continues to marginalise Muslims.

Twitter users praised Shaan for calling for his followers to respect all religions.

  • ‘ELITE ordered from Daraz’: Trailer for ‘College Gate’ has the internet divided

On Wednesday, Green Entertainment has released the trailer for ‘College Gate’, an upcoming series about a group of students. Starring Instagram influencers like Mamia Shajaffar and Khaqan Shahnawaz, the series explores the lives of a group of students and how they tackle parental pressure, love, dating and learn to rely on their friends during the tough moments of their lives.

However, the trailer has divided the internet, with many users thinking that the series is just plagarised from hit Netflix shows like ‘Elite’ and ‘Class’.

TBH we have the same question on our mind.

Others pointed out that despite the fact that the trailer seemed a direct copy of a show about the lives of privileged kids, it did seem like a progressive step that Pakistani dramas were starting to focus on the lives of teenagers!

We can also agree that it’s good for Pakistani dramas to tackle societal pressure and the anxieties of students growing up in this stage, rather than churn out another series focusing on saas bahu conflicts and the satti vs slutty savitri trope.

So while we can agree with some folks on Twitter here that the storyline is completely unoriginal but lets not drop the ball so quickly? Pakistani dramas are in desperate need of some revival right now, and its good that some people with logical minds had actually thought about discussing what issues students are facing today.

  • Proposed French bill will require influencers to disclose filters used on their pictures

A new law proposed by the French Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire will soon ban social media influencers from uploading photos without mentioning re-touches or filters they have added to them.

The new law seeks to curtail cosmetic surgery, keeping in mind its ill effect on the mental health of teenagers. The law states that any new picture or video uploaded will also include the filters added to it in the caption or description, while all promotions of cosmetic surgery will be banned.

Penalty for revoking this law could include up to two years in prison and $32,525 in fines, while the influencer responsible for breaking the law would also be banned from using social media or profiting from being an influencer.

Speaking to a French website, Le Maire said that the law was not an attempt to restrict influencers. It was to create a system that protects them as well as consumers.

This is not the first time France has taken strict measures to tackle the rise of inaccessible beauty standards. In 2017, the country passed a law requiring any commercial photo that has been re-touched to change the model’s body to be labeled as ‘photographie retouchée’ (retouched photograph).

  • Robbers loot social media influencer who flaunted wealth in posts

Robbers loot social media influencer who flaunted wealth in posts

Muggers looted over Rs 84.8 million from a Hong Kong social media influencer after she flaunted her wealth online.

According to details, 25-year-old So Mei-yan, who has 86,000 followers on Instagram, became famous for showing off her luxury lifestyle. Sharing details of the incident, Mei-yan said that three men burst into her home in Hong Kong with knives while she and her son were sleeping. They tied her, her six-month-old baby boy and his 45-year-old nanny up and then robbed her blind.

Following the incident, she appealed to thousands of her followers for help and to bring the robbers to justice, offering £194,000 as an incentive.

In a statement, police said: “As the doorbell rang, the maid opened the door and three men rushed into the unit.”

As per reports, Mei-yan was sleeping in the master bedroom of her flat while her baby was in the sitting room with the helper at the time of the incident.

The police spokesman then said that two of the robbers were either carrying a ‘fruit knife or a wooden rod.’

The robbers then tied her and the child’s helper up with the tape and pushed them into the babies room, where one stood guard and the other two searched the flat.

But the robbers became increasingly frustrated when they couldn’t find any cash and returned to Mei-yan, punching her in the face and repeating their demands.

Mei-yan went on to explain, “One of them returned and pulled my hair asking where I put my money.”

It is thought that the robbers could have gained all the information about her wealth via her social media account where she is famous for flaunting her goods.

Eventually the displeased thieves settled for her luxury items which she says were worth hundreds of thousands.

After the thieves had left, she managed to wriggle out of her restraints and call the police.
