    What do Pakistani and Indian players talk about? reveals Rohit Sharma

    On Saturday, October 15, the captains of all 16 T20 World Cup teams addressed news conferences in Melbourne. Pakistan’s Babar Azam and India’s Rohit Sharma shared the stage with them. Captains of both the arch-rival teams were asked questions about the upcoming big game where they play against each other. In addition, they were also asked about what kind of relationship they share.

    “Rohit Sharma is older than me. I try to take as much experience as possible from him as he has been playing for a long time,” said Babar.

    “Whenever we meet the Pakistan players, we meet them in the Asia Cup and now… we talk about how things are back home, how the families are. Even our previous generation cricketers also told us the same thing. We just talk about what is going on, how is life and what new car they have bought or they are about to buy,” said Rohit during the media session.

    The much-anticipated match between the two is scheduled for October 23 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

    Civil Awards: Govt honours sports stars on 75th Independence Day

    This year marks the 75th year of independence for Pakistan. To commemorate the occasion, 253 Pakistani citizens from all walks of life, as well as foreign nationals, were awarded the highest honours: the Pakistan Civil Awards by President of Pakistan Dr Arif Alvi, for showing excellent courage and remarkable achievements in their respective fields. A number of prominent Pakistani celebrities, belonging to the field of entertainment and sports were also conferred with the Civil Awards.

    The investiture ceremony of these awards will take place on Pakistan Day — March 23, 2023.

    14 athletes are also honoured with civil awards.

    Three athletes from the cricketing world have received the awards. Skipper Babar Azam was bestowed with Sitara-i-Imtiaz, women’s cricket team captain Bismah received Tamgha-i-Imtiaz and blind cricketer Masood Jan was honoured with the Pride of Performance award.

    Javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem and weightlifter Nooh Dastagir Butt were given the President’s award for Pride of Performance for bagging gold medals for Pakistan at the Commonwealth Games.

    Legendary squash player Jahangir Khan has been honoured with Nishan-i-Imtiaz. Mountaineer Sirbaz Khan received President’s award for Pride of Performance.

    Two kabbadi players Ch Shafay Hussain and Shafiq Ahmed Chishti were honoured with Sitara-i-Imtiaz, Tamgha-i-Imtiaz respectively.

    Ahsan Ramzan (Snooker), Amina Wali (Skiing), Abdul Karim (Mountaineer/Porter), Irfan Mehsood (Martial Arts) and Ms Shahida (Karate) athletes were also awarded with Pride of Performance.

    Tennis star Aisam to peacefully protest Macron’s blasphemy stance at Paris Masters tournament

    Pakistani tennis star Aisam ul Haq announced to protest peacefully in this week’s Paris Masters Tennis tournament against Macron on blasphemy by wearing a white band through the tournament.

    According to the reports Aisam delivered this message and urged famous athletes to participate in this peaceful protest wearing a white arm band. He also shared a video message on his social media accounts.

    Qureshi said: “The most important and valuable lesson I have learnt as an athlete and a tennis player is to respect all religions,cultures,faiths and beliefs.

    He further said, “Freedom of speech does not and should not mean freedom to antagonise anyone and disrespect someone’s religion.”

    “I will be wearing a white armband all this week at Paris Masters as a peaceful protest against the French president who, sadly and disappointingly, is endorsing and encouraging this kind of behavior where people are allowed to disrespect the religion of Islam and make fun of our Prophet Mohammad (PBUH), he said.

    Qureshi concluded with a request, “I urge not just Muslim athletes but athletes all over the world – who respect other religions – to show solidarity and unity by wearing a white armband and raise awareness that we, as human beings and athletes, can’t accept disrespect and mocking of other religions.”

    Aisam will be in action on Wednesday in the first round of the tournament’s mixed doubles event alongside world number 6 Stefanos Tsitsipas of Greece.

    The Pak-Greek duo will face Jamie Murray and Neal Skupski of Great Britain on Wednesday which is today.

    India and Pakistan may not be on good terms as states but when it comes to their people, the story is different altogether.

    Sports commentator Allison Mitchell narrated a heartwarming story recently.

    Allison shared that an Indian cab driver came to pick them up from the hotel in Brisbane at quarter to 6 to bring them to the cricket ground. He asked them if they were working or going to watch cricket and she told them that we work in the commentary. He got very excited and brought his phone out and showed them a picture with Pakistani cricketers.

    So a couple of days ago before picking up Mitchell and her team, he had been called to pick up someone from the hotel. It turned out that a group of Pakistani cricketers including Yasir Shah, Shaheen Afridi, Imran Khan, Musa Khan and Naseem Shah, wanted to go to an Indian restaurant for a meal. He was very happy to see them as he was a cricket fan. He did not charge them so the players asked him to join them for a meal.

    Sindh High Court reminds PCB of players’ sheesha controversy, seeks answer

    The Sindh High Court (SHC) has resent a notice to Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on a petition regarding its inaction against former national team skipper Shoaib Malik and other cricketers for violating team rules, Geo News reported. 

    Prior to a crucial match against arch-rivals India at the World Cup 2019, batsman Malik was snapped at a cafe in London along with two other players — Wahab Riaz and Imamul Haq, as an unidentified person consumed sheesha on their table. 

    According to the details, petitioner Abdul Jalil Marwat had claimed that the players were spotted consuming sheesha at a cafe in England the night before the match with India on June 16. 

    He further alleged that Malik, Wahab and Imam performed poorly, perhaps as a result of their disregard for rules and regulations, which resulted in Pakistan’s loss.

    After the cricket board had failed to take any action against these players, Marwat had requested the court to direct the PCB to explain why the players were not punished for violating the team management rules and regulations.

    A division bench of the high court, headed by Justice Mohammad Ali Mazhar, observed that no one had appeared in court on behalf of the PCB despite the issuance of notice.

    The court has now resent the notice to PCB through a district and sessions judge in Lahore and adjourned the hearing of the case till a later date that is yet to be determined.

    After the Lahore High Court granted permission to former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to fly to London without any conditions for four weeks for medical treatment, former Pakistan cricket team captain Mohammad Hafeez took to Twitter to question whether this decision is admission that Pakistan lacks proper medical care.

    “It means we 200 million Pakistani are not safe here? Just asking,” he wrote.

    Following the cricketer’s tweets, people took to attack him and question why he also opted to get treatment in the UK when he hurt his thumb in the past.

    Other’s dug up an old video of his in which he is seen wishing Nawaz Sharif good health.

    Meanwhile, others took to defend the cricketer and his decision to get treated in the UK.

    Pakistan’s middle-order batsman Umar Akmal has said that it was not right to compare him with opener Ahmed Shehzad and asked to be assessed in an individual capacity, Cricket Pakistan reported.

    According to the details, Umar in a press conference at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Wednesday said, “I am usually associated and compared with Ahmed Shehzad, which is not right. We have different goals and identities”.

    He added that we have different roles and should be criticised or praised in our individual capacities.

    The 29-year-old batsman accepted the fact that his performance against Sri Lanka was below the required standard and vowed to make a comeback in the side.

    “It is not easy to make a comeback whatever team you play for. There is always pressure to solidify your place in the side. I can only say that I was unlucky to get out on the first ball against Sri Lanka. I could not perform well. I am working harder and I believe that the chief selector Misbahul Haq will give me another chance and I will not disappoint,” Umar said.

    Akmal praised the media for its role in the return of international cricket in Pakistan and expressed hope in the Pakistan Test side to deliver a good performance against Australia in their upcoming Test series Down Under.

    Teenage pacer Naseem Shah to not fly back home for mother’s funeral

    Pakistan’s 16-year-old pacer Naseem Shah, who is currently in the Test squad for the series against Australia, will not be traveling back to the country after the untimely demise of his mother on Monday, Cricket Pakistan reported.

    According to the details, the young pacer reportedly made had taken this decision after consulting with his family members in Pakistan. The Lower Dir native decided against going back due to the distance and time constraints involved.

    Naseem will stay with the national team in Australia however he has been pulled out of the ongoing three-day practice match against Australia A.

    Shah is part of the playing XI currently facing Australia A, however, he did not bat in Pakistan’s first innings, which concluded yesterday at the score of 428. He also did not take the field when the Australia A innings began.

    The first Test match between Pakistan and Australia will start on November 21 in Brisbane.

    Bodybuilder Fazal Elahi from Quetta won the bronze medal for bodybuilding at the 11th World Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Federation World Championships.

    Fazal Elahi came in 3rd place winning the bronze medal

    First place was taken by a bodybuilder from Malaysia. The event took place in Jeju South Korea on Saturday, November 9th.

    Winning the bronze
