Do you feel like sometimes the entertainment industry should maybe stop tearing apart masterpiece films by remaking them over and over again? Once a television show is done and over with, don’t try to re-vamp the hype by drawing up another couple of seasons. Instead maybe try to come up with more original shows?
This debate began on Twitter when a user shared their distate with the recent season of ‘Khuda Aur Muhabbat’, starring Iqra Aziz and Feroze Khan, saying that Season 1, which had starred Imran Abbas, was much better.
It led to more Twitter users coming up with their suggestions of shows and movies they feel weren’t necessary at all. Here are some of the replies, and honestly we’re shook.
Yasir Hussain has finally recovered from Covid’19, he along with his ladylove Iqra Aziz went out on a cruise and ate food at a high-profile restaurant.
They can also be seen cruising to Farhan Saeed and Aima Baig’s latest song Na Cher Malangaan Nu being played in their car.
Recently while revealing the most hardest part of the quarantine, the Baandhi star wrote: “The hardest thing is to stay away from his ladylove Iqra Aziz.” The Khuda Aur Mohabbat 3 star went to her maternal house with their son during his quarantine period.
On the work front, the duo appeared together in ARY Digital’s Jhooti.
Saima Akram Chaudhry, who has penned the wildly successful Chupke Chupke, Ishq Jalebi and Suno Chanda has said that there will be no second or third seasons of these dramas.
“Dear fans, viewers and followers, I know you loved Chupke Chupke, Ishq Jalebi and Suno Chanda. I am grateful to all but it’s not possible for me to take your Instagram calls and talk [to] everyone,” wrote Akram on social media.
“Please accept my apologies and don’t call directly. Trust me it’s too irritating and it is too unethical to call someone at midnight,” she said further.
Chaudhry also said that she cannot help anyone launch their career in the entertainment industry as it’s not her department.
“And channels are not planning for season two or three,” added Chaudhry.
Meanwhile, earlier fans had speculated that a sequel of Chupke Chupke was in the works after Ayeza Khan shared a clip of herself and Osman Khalid Butt dressed up as Meenu and Faazi from the drama.
Furthermore, director Danish Nawaz said that there is a possibility for a sequel if the script and story are good. He said discussions on the topic are ongoing and that he cannot confirm anything as yet.
Chupke Chupke’s Aadi Khan aka Kaddu (Waleed) called out media outlets for spreading misinformation about his family.
In a note posted on social media, Khan said: “I just want to make sure everyone that me and Sami Khan [DJ from Suno Chanda] are brothers Alhamdulillah.”
“We don’t have any sister. Please please aap bhi zaleel na ho or humein bhi na karein, biography likhne se pehly rabta kr liya karein. Kabhi apne comments parha karein to aap logo ko he galiyan par rhi hoti hai,” he added.
Aadi is a young actor and elder brother of Sami Khan, who is famous for his role as DJ in Suno Chanda and it’s sequel.
Aadi has worked in several Pakistani dramas including Nibah, Aye Muhabbat, Kam Zarf and Lamhay. He is currently part of Hum TV’s Ramzan special Chupke Chupke, in which audiences are loving his character.
Ever since students discovered that Suno Chanda’s Masooma aka Tara Mahmood is Minister of Education Shafqat Mahmood’s daughter, her social media has been flooded with requests and appeals from students who are asking the actor to convince her father to close schools. The government had announced that schools and universities will reopen in three phases from January 18.
“Ma’am please apnay Baba say kahen keh humaray papers online kar dein,” “Please colleges aur schools band karwa dein Abba ko keh kar” are just some of the messages the actor has been receiving on social media. Some have even commented that they are sure Shafqat will listen to her because “betiyon ki baat baap nahi taaltay”.
While Tara has not yet responded to the comments, earlier while responding to a social media user, she had said: “Schools shut for long will harm many students who don’t have access to online education.”
“As a minister, he has to think about everyone in this country. And there are people out there dying for educational institutes to open. Hang in there and protect yourself by wearing a mask. Trust me, nothing will happen,” she added.
Earlier, in an exclusive interview with The Current, Shafqat had said that closing schools and universities late last year was a “difficult decision”.
“I think children don’t want to go to school,” the minister had said. “But seriously it was a difficult decision to close schools, colleges and universities. InshAllah as soon as the situation gets better, we will open them again.”
Shafqat Mahmood has three daughters, two of who are twins. The actor has often shared pictures of her family on social media.
Suno Chanda’s Farhan Ali Agha has joined Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI). In a press conference held in Karachi Monday, Farhan announced his decision to join the ruling party.
During the press conference, Farhan thanked PTI for giving him the opportunity and shared why he took this step.
“I decided to Join PTI because it is need of the hour that honest people come forward and be a part of the movement so that Prime Minister Imran Khan’s vision and Quaid-e-Azam’s dream can be fulfilled,” said Farhan. “A dream of a country where common people will get justice.”
Farhan further said that his father was in armed forces and he grew up listening to stories of sacrifices for the country.
He shared that he has been following Imran Khan from his cricketing days and believes the future of Pakistan is with PTI.
The press conference was held at the PTI Sindh’s Insaaf House at Shahr-e-Faisal.
It is pertinent to add here that Abrar ul Haq is also a member of PTI. Other celebrities who openly show support for PTI includeHamza Ali Abbasi, Farhan Saeed, Mawra Hocane, Shaan Shahid and Ali Zafar.
Earlier, Shamoon Abbasi had also announced that he has joined the ruling party to revive the cinema industry.
“I’ve joined PTI, not as a politician; I’ve joined the development department of the media industry. We’ve created and forwarded new policies that the government has accepted and started implementing. Thankfully, Prime Minister Imran Khan is supporting us,” Abbasi had said.
“A department is being created which will visit sets without notice and make sure things are functioning professionally. If a producer has employed someone without an agreement, he will be questioned and we will work things out accordingly,” he added.
Ever since he assumed office, Prime Minister Imran Khan has given us plenty of recommendations on drama serials and books – the most prominent being Turkish drama series Diriliş: Ertuğrul and Elif Shafak’s The Forty Rules of Love. Earlier this week, PM Khan recommended the youth to watch another Turkish show on Sufism Yunus Emre: Aşkin Yolculuğu, which is also being aired on PTV in Urdu.
I strongly recommend the serial Yunus Emre being shown on PTV for all those who are interested in Sufism (Marayfat).
While we love the fact that the PM takes out time to recommend stuff to the youth, we decided to turn the tables and recommend him a few recent (in the past two years) Pakistani drama serials which are worth watching. Check out our suggestions below:
Sabaat
While Hum TV’s Sabaat in its essence is a family drama exploring familial relations and dynamics, its presentation was very refreshing, in particular Anaya and Hassan’s storyline. The drama highlighted the importance of having a healthy, loving relationship with your children and gave out a strong message on the importance of empowering women and daughters and gave viewers a new heroine after Zindagi Gulzar Hai‘s Kashf. It also showed how ego, money and misunderstandings can ruin relationships and your life. All these themes are the ones which PM Khan has time and time again urged our drama writers to show on television.
Starring PM Imran’s BFF Hamza Ali Abbasi and Sajal Aly in the lead, Alif, written by Umera Ahmed and directed by Haseeb Hasan focuses on the spiritual journeys of two individuals Qalb-e-Momin (Hamza) and Momina Sultan (Sajal), who despite coming from completely different backgrounds help each other find peace in righteousness. Alif was a brilliant example of good storytelling and sensitive direction. Moreso, the entire cast of the drama including Hamza, Sajal, Ahsan Khan, Manzar Sehbai and Kubra Khan gave strong and solid performances. It is pertinent to add here that Hamza in several interviews has shared that his life reflects what is shown in the drama.
Suno Chanda Season 1
Perhaps one of the most-loved dramas in the country, Suno Chanda (Season 1) is chaotic, fun and will leave you with a warm feeling. The show which ran through Ramadan and had everyone hooked is about a household in which the children of two brothers get married just before the family’s patriach passes away. Directed by Aehsun Talish and written by Saima Akram Chaudhry, Suno Chanda is a comedy drama done just right. From the performances to the witty dialogues to the direction, everything about this drama was brilliant. The show gave us some memorable characters and there was bound to be one person in the cast you could relate too.
Out of the list, if there is one drama the prime minister should be watching, it should be Suno Chanda. Will also give him some much-needed respite from the day-to-day political tensions.
Aangan
Yet another multi-starrer drama starring some big dramas of the drama industry, Aangan brought back and romanticised living in joint family systems while at the same time highlighting the issues that come with it. The drama very delicately and tactfully challenged societal norms while keeping viewers engaged and hooked. Aangan is without a doubt one of Faiza Iftikhar’s finest works. I am pretty sure Khan sahab is going to love this one. It is everything he wants to promote through television and dramas.
Sammi
Perhaps the darkest drama on this list, Mawra Hocane and Adnan Siddiqui’s Sammi sheds light on the custom of vani (or exchange brides) and how women are forced to continuously bear children in the quest for a son. It is gritty and makes you uncomfortable but that is because you know that this is exactly what happens to women in this country. The drama has been sensitively written by Noor ul Huda Shah and directed by Saifee Hassan.
Is there any other drama you would recommend PM Imran to watch? Let us know in the comments below.
Mashal Khan, popular for her roles in Suno Chanda and Thora Sa Haq, lashed out on a couple on social media for using a lion cub as a prop.
In a social media post, the actor remarked that she was disgusted by the actions of the couple.
“They do not exist to provide entertainment for sick, mentally inferior people like those in this picture,” Mashal commented.
In the next post, she highlighted how the lion cub looks agitated and slammed the groom for smiling despite the fact that the lion cub is feeling irritated.
The actor then appealed to her followers not to keep lions as pets. She explained how keeping them in captivity causes the animals great stress and affects their mental health which can also be dangerous for their owners.
Mashal is a vocal advocate of animal rights and has often voiced her concerns on social media. She even did a campaign with RPK Critter Care and Animal Hospital which is Karachi’s first ever fully equipped 24/7 animal hospital.
Google Trends has released the list of what was trending in year 2019 in Pakistan in the categories of Searches, People and Movies & TV.
Pakistan vs South Africa tops the Searches list while Naimal Khawar was the top searched person in the country in 2019. Number one on the Movies & TV list is Avengers: Endgame followed by Bigg Boss 13 and the ISPR helmed drama Ehd e Wafa.
See the rest of the list here:
Searches
Comes as no surprise that all the top searches this year were related to cricket. 2019 also saw Pakistan participate in the ICC Cricket World Cup and Pakistan narrowly missed making it to the semi-finals this year. However, the uncanny differences between the 1992 cricket world cup and the 2019 one had everyone on the edge of their seats.

People
Naimal Khawar was the most searched person in Pakistan mainly because her debut drama Anaa was a huge success and because this year she also became Mrs Hamza Ali Abbasi. Hamza and Naimal’s wedding was one which fans had not seen coming at all which is probably why they were more intruiged by it.
Number two on the list was the ‘Chocolate Hero’ Waheed Murad. The late actor became the second most searched person in the country after he was honoured with a Google Doodle on his 81st birthday.
Waheed Murad
Babar Azam followed on number 3, who left everyone in awe with his brilliant cricket skills, especially during the ICC World Cup 2019 when he smashed several records. He remained the world’s top-ranked T20I batsman.
Babar Azam
Number four on the list is Asif Ali which is interesting because he did not really impress anyone with his cricketing skills.
Asif Ali
Adnan Sami, better known as ‘undercover agent’ Major Adnan Sami, was the fifth most searched person in Pakistan. Sami, who is now an Indian national, is often trending on social media when tensions between India and Pakistan are high.
Adnan Sami
Others on the list included Sara Ali Khan (6), Mohammad Amir (7), Alizeh Shah (8), Abhinandan Varthaman (9) and Madiha Naqvi (10).
Bollywood actor Sara has garnered quite a loyal following in Pakistan, while Alizeh Shah is the country’s latest national crush, particularly after her roles in Superstar and Ehd e Wafa. Madiha Naqvi made it to the list after she tied the knot with Muhttahid Quami Movement’s (MQM) Faisal Sabzwari in a low-key wedding ceremony this summer.
