Update: Apartment where Sushant Singh Rajput committed suicide finally gets a tenant

Late Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s sea-facing Mumbai home located at Carter Road gets its first tenant after almost a gap of three years, reports. The apartment now belongs to an NRI who will be renting it out at the cost of INR 5 lakh per month along with a security deposit of INR 30 lakh.

The sources revealed that a broker named Rafique Merchant confirmed that the house is finally renting out. He revealed that the owner of the house contacted him regarding the matter a few months back. “We have found somebody (a tenant). We are in the final stage of talks with the family to finalize things. People are now relaxed about it (Sushant’s death) because they say it has been a while.”

Rafique talked about the process of finding tenants for the apartment, and said: “People are scared to move into this flat. When prospective tenants would hear that this is the same apartment where he died, they would not even visit. Nowadays, people are at least visiting the flat as the news of his death has become old. Yet, the deal is not getting finalized.”

“The owner is also very particular and doesn’t want to come down on the rent. If he does, it’ll be sold quickly. Since he’s selling it at the market price, tenants prefer buying some other flat of a similar size in the same area since it would come without the baggage of controversy that this flat is associated with, revealed the broker.”

Sushant Singh Rajput's Sea-Facing Bandra Home is Up for Rent at Rs 4 Lakh Per Month

Merchant further disclosed: “The clients are informed in advance that this is where Sushant used to stay. Some people don’t mind the history and want to go for it. But their friends and family members discourage them from going ahead with the deal. Now, the owner is very clear that he doesn’t want to rent out the flat to a film celeb, no matter who or how big he or she is. He wants to hand over the flat to a corporate person.”

As per Pinkvilla, Sushant Singh Rajput moved into this four-bedroom apartment in 2019, he was living there on a rent of INR 4.5 lakh per month.

Now after 2.5 years of his death, the Cooper hospital’s staff has made a shocking revelation about the actor’s corpse. Reportedly, the person carried out the late autopsy and opened up about what he told his seniors.

Quoting TV9, Times Now News reported that Roopkumar Shah said, “When Sushant Singh Rajput passed away, we had received five dead bodies in the Cooper Hospital for postmortem. Out of those five bodies, one was a VIP body. When we went to perform a post-mortem, we learned he was Sushant and there were several marks on his body and two to three marks on his neck as well. The postmortem needed to be recorded but higher authorities were asked to only click pics of the body. Hence, we did that as per their order.”

Sushant Singh Rajput's body didn't appear to be a case of suicide

“When I saw Sushant’s body for the first time, I quickly informed my seniors that I feel it is not suicide but a murder. I even told them that we should work as per the rules. However, my seniors told me to click pictures as soon as possible and give the body to the cops. Hence, we performed the postmortem in the night only,” revealed Shah further.

The attendant concluded it by saying, “When I saw Sushant’s body for the first time, I quickly informed my seniors that I feel it is not suicide but a murder. I even told them that we should work as per the rules. However, my seniors told me to click pictures as soon as possible and give the body to the cops. Hence, we performed the postmortem in the night only.”

Earlier, in 2020, it was reported that All India Institute Of Medical Science (AIIMS) doctors, who studied the autopsy report of Sushant Singh Rajput, had found procedural lapses in the report prepared by Cooper Hospital doctors. The hospital’s autopsy report was earlier carried out by a five-member doctors panel.

Hearing this traumatizing news, Rajput’s sister Shweta Singh Kirti reacted to the claims and asked the CBI to open up the case again and look into the matter.

Taking it to her Instagram, she wrote: “If there is an ounce of truth to this evidence, we urge CBI to really look into it diligently. We have always believed that you guys will do a fair investigation and let us know the truth. Our heart aches to find no closure as yet. #justiceforsushantsinghrajput.”

The Narcotics Control Bureau of India has arrested the flatmate of late actor Sushant Singh Rajput. Siddharth Pithani was living with him for more than a year, Indian media has reported. He is reportedly arrested by the anti-drugs agency.

Pithani was one of the first witnesses to see Sushant hanging from the ceiling on June 14, 2020, and according to his statement, he met Singh at 1 am, the night before his death.

On June 14, 2020, Singh was found dead at his home in Mumbai. While the police initially reported Rajput’s death as suicide, the federal police agency later began to investigate foul play after fans of the actors expressed outrage on social media and his family filed a First Information Report (FIR) against his alleged girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty.

The abrupt death of Rajput spurred a debate on the stigma of mental health, the exclusive insider world of Bollywood, and, condemnation of the media for the non-stop coverage of the duelling accusations between Rajput’s family and his alleged girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty.

Kriti Sanon who shared the screen with Sushant Singh Rajput in 2017’s Raabta, has opened up about the actor’s death and revealed why she chose to remain silent on the matter.

Sanon, who was also rumoured to have dated the late actor, chose to step away from the spotlight following Rajput’s alleged suicide, even as people reportedly used his death to claim their five minutes of fame in the media.

Speaking to an Indian media outlet, Sanon shared why she decided to stay silent on the matter.

“At one point, there was so much noise around that I didn’t want to be a part of it,” said Kriti. “It reached a point where people stopped being sensitive, and there was too much negativity around. I didn’t want to be a part of that negativity.”

“I knew what I felt about the situation and I wanted to keep that to myself. I didn’t feel the need to talk to anyone about anything that I was feeling. Also, what you want to say, you can always say it on social media. You can write and express yourself instead of talking out loud.”

Two days after Sushant’s death, Kriti had penned a heartbreaking note for her late co-star, writing: “Sush…I knew that your brilliant mind was your best friend and your worst enemy…but it has broken me completely to know that you had a moment in your life where dying felt easier or better than living.”

“A part of my heart has gone with you, and a part will always keep you alive,” Kriti had written in her note.

On Sushant Singh Rajput’s 35th birth anniversary i.e. January 21, his sister Shweta Singh Kirti has announced that a scholarship programme has been set up for students aspiring to study astrophysics at the Department of Physics at the University of California in the United States.

Sushant fascination and interest in science and space is no secret. The actor, who was the owner of the highly advanced Meade 14’’ LX-600 telescope, had even bought a piece of land on the moon in the region called the ‘Mare Moscoviense’ or the ‘Sea of Moscovy’. In an interview, his co-star Bhumi Pednekar revealed that Sushant would carry his telescope to his outdoor shoots so he could see the stars everywhere.

  • Indian comedian duo Bharti and Harsh arrested in drugs case

Indian television comedian Bharti Singh was taken into custody by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on Saturday for alleged possession and consumption of the banned drug marijuana after the department conducted a raid at her house. A day after her arrest, her husband Harsh Limbachiya, who is also a popular television comedian, was arrested on the same charges.

According to a NCB official, 86.5 grams of marijuana (ganja) was seized from Singh and Limbachiyaa’s home and office.

“Both Singh and her husband accepted the consumption of ganja,” confirmed the NCB official.

The arrest of the popular television comedian stunned the entertainment world. Fellow comedian Raju Shrivastava shared, “I am really shocked and hurt and because of her the entire fraternity gets defamed.”

Meanwhile another comedian Ehsaan Qureshi said,“ I have worked with Bharti on shows and live events but I have never seen her doing drugs in front of people or during shoots maybe she did it on the sly. I am really shocked to know that she has confessed to doing Drugs.”

He added: “The industry has still not been able to come to terms with Sushant Singh Rajput case who died due to drugs or maybe depression.”

The couples’ arrest comes as a part of the ongoing probe by the NCB into alleged drug use in Bollywood, after the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput from alleged suicide in June. The central agency had earlier arrested Rajput’s girlfriend, actress Rhea Chakraborty, her brother, some employees of the late film star, and a few others during investigation. Moreover, top Bollywood actors including Deepika Padukone, Shraddha Kapoor, Sara Ali Khan and Arjun Rampal have also been questioned by the NCB.

The agency has said this is part of its attempt to unravel a network of supply of drugs to Bollywood celebrities.

  • Bollywood actor Asif Basra found dead, suicide suspected

Bollywood actor Asif Basra, who was recognised for his roles in Jab We Met, Koi Po Che! and Ek Villian was found hanging at a private guest house in Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh. He was 53.

According to reports, Basra’s body was discovered by the police and a team of forensic experts is on the spot to investigate the death. Initial investigation has revealed that Basra committed suicide by hanging himself with the leash of his pet dog. As per the police, Basra had returned from a stroll in the locality along with his dog, just before the alleged suicide.

It is also being reported that the actor had a property on lease in the area for the past five-six years and often visited it. Some reports have also suggested that the actor, who was under depression, was staying there with a British woman. However, no suicide note has been recovered from the place.

Basra was born in Maharashtra’s Amravati in 1967. He moved to Mumbai in 1989 to pursue a career in acting. In a career that spanned over two-decades, Basra played supporting parts in many popular films including Once Upon a Time in Mumbai, Krrish 3, Hichki as well as the Hollywood film Outsourced.

The actor’s most recent outing was Amazon Prime Video’s smash-hit series Paatal Lok.

Basra’s suicide comes almost five months after his Kai Po Che! co-star Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead in his apartment on June 14.

Several Bollywood stars including Emran Hashmi, Manoj Bajpayee and Raees director Rahul Dholakia expressed their shock over his sudden death.

  • Sushant Singh Rajput’s death has highlighted India’s frantic press and the inside world of Bollywood

Sushant Singh Rajput’s death has highlighted India’s frantic press and the inside world of Bollywood

Bollywood star Sushant Singh Rajput’s death has latched on to India and the film industry, sparking outrage against the media over the grueling coverage.

The abrupt death of Sushant Singh Rajput has spurred a debate about the stigma of mental health, the exclusive insider world of Bollywood, and, more recently, condemnation of the media for the non-stop coverage of the duelling accusations between Rajput’s family and his alleged girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty.

Mumbai police initially reported Rajput’s death as accidental and local media called it a suicide. But the federal police agency is now investigating if there was any foul play and is questioning Chakraborty and others.

On Tuesday, Chakraborty was arrested by India’s narcotics department, which is investigating a drug case linked to the probe of Rajput’s death. The actor has denied any wrongdoing and her lawyer, Satish Maneshinde, called the arrest “a travesty of justice”. Her bail plea has been rejected and the actor has been remanded to judicial custody until September 22.

It is also being reported that Rhea during her bail plea disclosed that “80 percent of Bollywood celebrities” consume drugs. According to details, many celebrities are under NCB’s radar and around 25 of them are likely to be summoned before the agency.

Along the way, the story has become a media obsession in India, fed by a wave of TV coverage still swelling almost three months after Rajput, 34, was found dead in his Mumbai apartment.

In recent weeks, India’s TV channels have given more airtime to the Rajput case than India’s surging COVID-19 caseload, a plane crash and top political stories, according to the Broadcast Audience Research Council.

India’s boisterous TV networks, which include more than 350 news channels in English and several local languages, have flashed photos of Rajput’s body, analysed his medical prescriptions, even used voodoo dolls and graphics of a skull to hype allegations that “black magic” was performed on the actor.

The federal police, the High Court in Mumbai, and the government watchdog Press Council of India have all criticised coverage of the investigation.

Chakraborty, 28, was regularly hounded by reporters when she appeared in public, with news commentators opining on her innocence or guilt.

    https://www.instagram.com/p/CEYg61Nnwoe/

Rajput’s family claims she poisoned him, used black magic and is responsible for his death.

“There has been a conspiracy to break me and my family and my spirit,” Chakraborty said in an interview with television anchor Rajdeep Sardesai in late August. “It is the systematic breakdown of an innocent family, an innocent girl who loved an innocent boy.”

On Sunday, she was jostled by a pack of journalists as she tried to enter a narcotics department office in Mumbai, where police struggled to disperse the crowd. Visuals from the scene were harrowing and unsettling, to say the least.

The CBI, the federal police agency, said last month it was investigating allegations of abetment to suicide and criminal conspiracy. Its announcement came after requests from Rajput’s family and Chakraborty.

In a statement last week, the CBI said some media reports on its probe were “speculative” and “not credible.” The bureau, it said, “has not shared any details of investigation with media.”

The Press Council of India has urged the media not to “conduct its own parallel trial.”

Some television editors have defended the coverage.

Arnab Goswami, editor of Republic TV and a widely watched anchor known for his sharp-elbowed commentary, last week credited his channel’s coverage with ensuring that Rajput’s death wasn’t “whitewashed” as a suicide.

“I pushed, I pressurised, I connected the dots,” he told news website OpIndia. “In the process, if I’ve done a media trial, I’m happy I have done one.”

    Bollywood responds

Following Rhea’s arrest, several Bollywood actors including Sonam Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Vidya Balan and Taapsee Pannu have extended their support to the actor by sharing the quote written on the t-shirt Rhea was wearing on the day of her arrest.

“Roses are red, violets are blue, Let’s smash the patriarchy me and you,” the quote read.

Meanwhile, Anurag Kashyap shared a screenshot of his chat with Sushant’s manager in which he commented that the late actor was “difficult”.

Earlier, the Producers Guild of India issued a statement condemning the attacks against the film industry.

The Guild in the statement noted that the “tragic death of a promising young star has been used by some as a tool to defame and slander the film industry and its members”.

The organisation explained that the picture painted of the industry as a “terrible place for outsiders to aspire to, a place that threatens those who dare to enter it with contempt and derision; a murky den of substance abuse and criminality” was not the truth.

The Guild accepted that the film industry has its “imperfections” and that to “paint an entire industry with the same brush is a gross misrepresentation of reality”.

  • Pakistani actor Hasan Khan to play Sushant Singh Rajput in film for Amazon Prime?

Pakistani actor Hasan Khan has created a bit of a frenzy after he announced that he will be playing the late Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput for “Indian web”.

In an Instagram post, the actor wrote: “Alhamdulillah got a project which is really close to my heart, playing Sushant Singh Rajput’s character for Indian web.”

    https://www.instagram.com/p/CD_-eIEJkUs/

While the actor did not share further details, Indian media denied the rumours and reported that “Amazon Prime Video has not commissioned or licensed any project on the late Sushant Singh Rajput with actor Hasan Khan or for that matter with anyone else”.

    https://www.instagram.com/p/CEEBzeTpTbh/

Later while speaking to a local media outlet, Hasan revealed that the film has already been shot and will be released soon. The actor said that the film has been directed by a Pakistani director, Mohammad Mussavir and produced by Indian producer, Raj Gupta.

Hasan also said that the film was originally scheduled to release on Amazon Prime but due to strong criticism and backlash from Sushant’s fans, Amazon Prime backed out of the project. He added that the film will now release on the producer’s own channel ‘Imperfect Movies’.

The actor also shared some BTS pictures with the publication. Viewer discretion is advised.

Sushant allegedly died by suicide on June 14, though fans believe that he was murdered. Mumbai Police was investigating his death but after fans expressed their distrust in them, the matter has been referred to India’s top investigation agency the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). The controversy surrounding his death does not seem to be dying and it appears that fans will not rest until the matter is settled as per their expectations.
