    Govt launches WhatsApp polio helpline

    The Prime Minister’s Focal Person Babar Bin Atta announced the launch of a first-ever WhatsApp helpline where people can ask questions about the polio program, report on children missed out on anti-polio campaigns in any part of the country and can also lodge complaints.

    Taking to the twitter, he wrote:

    Soon after the tweet, he again tweeted, “Dear brothers & sisters this is a WhatsApp text helpline, since my tweet, there is a flurry of calls on the number. Please do not call, just send your query via WhatsApp Text”

    FBR to launch a mobile app for filing tax returns

    The Chairman Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Shabbar Zaidi has
    announced to launch a mobile application to help people file their tax returns.

    As per reports, the app “Income Tax Return App” will be
    launched next week. The recently launched tax returns e-form for
    businesses and salaried individuals will also be uploaded on FBR’s website. The
    last date for filing returns is also extended. The new deadline is September 30.

    The application would have online tutorials to guide the
    filers. It will make tax filing easy and efficient. The app will be
    available on Google Play Store by next week.

    PTA urges dual SIM smartphone users to register both IMEI before Aug 31

    The Pakistan telecommunication authority (PTA) has asked all subscribers with dual SIM mobile phone handsets to register their International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) numbers separately before Aug 31, Dawn has reported.

    According to the details, PTA has said “There are subscribers who own handsets with dual SIMs but have only registered one IMEI number against the slot they use, adding that the second slot remains unutilized.

    Therefore, the authorities have urged users to verify their unregistered IMEI in a dual SIM mobile handset as well, otherwise, it will be blocked after August 31.

    IMEI number is a unique code for every mobile phone that helps to identify GSM, WCDMA, and iDEN handsets, as well as some satellite phones.

    How to register IMEI’s of dual sim smartphones?

    In order to register such devices, users can send an email at typeapproval@pta.gov.pk with details, including a screenshot of the device showing all programmed IMEI, device box showing IMEI(s), copy of CNIC, and contact details of applicants.

    PTA said that it will evaluate all requests with details, and validated cases will be registered accordingly. Requests sent after Aug 30 will not be entertained.

    To check the status of a mobile device, PTA has advised subscribers to dial *#06# and SMS each 15 digits IMEI to 8484.

    Pakistan becomes first country in South East Asia to conduct successful 5G test

    Pakistan has become the first country in South East Asia to conduct a successful 5G network test, Dunya News has reported.

    According to the reports, Chinese telecom company Zong conducted the test on Pakistan’s Independence Day (August 14), paving way for a new digital revolution in the country.

    5G is the fifth generation of cellular network technology with 10 times faster data download and upload speeds as compared to 4G, with wider coverage and more stable connections.

    The network’s home router speed has been recorded as four 4 gigabytes (GB) per second, which means that with 5G you can download a 50 GB file in just two minutes.

    It is estimated that 5G technology will bring industrial opportunities worth $1.2 trillion to South Asia and South East Asia over the next five years.

    Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) had in June, invited applications for 5G wireless network trials in the country and presented the framework for test and development of future technologies.

    This Pakistani claims to be the founder of Bitcoin

    A Pakistani named Bilal Khalid, currently living in the United Kingdom (UK) has claimed to be the founder of Bitcoin, originally known as Satoshi Nakamoto.

    The true identity of Bitcoin’s founder is unknown and it is also said that Satoshi had a huge collection of coins worth almost $10 billion.

    According to the details, Bilal in a series of blogposts has provided evidence to support his claim of being Bitcoin’s creator, along with his story on what inspired him to work on digital currency.

    Bilal says that he derived the name Bitcoin from BCCI (the Bank of Credit and Commerce International) and wrote that he graduated from Al-Khair University in Pakistan, and later took online courses from Yale, Duke, and University of California-Irvine.

    He also shared the story of how he lost his coins collection, which as of right now are 10,037,062,000.00 USD, and would have made him the richest Pakistani.

    However, he says the loss was too big for him to take and that is the reason why he gave up on cryptocurrency.

    A man in India was arrested for posting a video on
    TikTok of himself firing in the air with a  pistol.

    As per reports, Faizan is addicted to TikTok and he was celebrating his 32nd birthday with his friends and wanted to make it memorable. So he fired some shots in the air from a pistol, recorded it and later uploaded the video on TikTok.

    The video went viral on Facebook and Whatsapp sending the Delhi Police a security alert. The Cyber Cell of the Delhi Police tracked the exact location of the video after which the police arrested Faizan from his residence.

    Faizan’s father is a popular caterer in old Delhi. He
    helps his father in his business. He confessed to his crime. The weapon and the
    mobile phone used in the crime were also seized from him.

    It is so much fun making boomerangs on Instagram and then
    sharing it with your friends. Soon we all will be able to make boomerangs not
    only on Instagram but also on the WhatsApp.

    WhatsApp is reportedly working on a Boomerang feature similar to the one on Instagram. It is in the development stage and soon it will be launched for the users.

    The feature will be available in the Video Type panel for the videos that are less than 7 seconds long. These boomerangs can be shared with friends in your contacts. Also, users can post them as their WhatsApp status.

    WhatsApp
    does allow users to convert their videos into GIFs. But Instagram’s Boomerang
    feature on WhatsApp will be something new and interesting.

    Initially,
    the feature will launch on iOS and later on Android phone.

    A 23-year-old youngster from Lahore has been crowned the world’s best Tekken 7 player at 2019 Evolution Championship Series (EVO) in Las Vegas.

    According to the details, Arslan Siddiqui aka Arslan Ash, who was relatively unknown in the competitive circuit a year ago, has edged out Jae-Min Bae aka Knee in the grand finals of one of, if not the biggest, fighting game tournament series in the world.

    He was also awarded a cash prize of around $14,000.

    According to VICE, it’s the third time Siddiqui has bested South Korea’s Jae-Min, who many from the gaming community considered a “god” of the game. It’s a monumental win, considering the former was virtually unheard of a year ago.

    The 23-year-old had previously also won the second Evo Japan in February, becoming the first-ever unified EVO champion.

    EVO hosted nine official fighting games this year, including Tekken 7, whose competitive scene is centered around a few countries: Japan, the United States (US), and South Korea.

    This year’s top eight consists of players from those very same countries: four players from Japan, two players from South Korea and one player from the US, however, Siddiqui is the exception.

    We all know one or two friends in our social circle who make videos on Tik Tok or we enjoy watching Tik Tok videos for some entertainment and time pass. But now we may not watch those videos as a petition to ban youngsters’ popular mobile app Tik Tok has been filed in Lahore High Court.

    As per details, petitioner Advocate Nadeem Sarwar said that Tik Tok was spoiling the young generation as they were wasting their time in making the videos.  The app was promoting vulgarity and giving rise to blackmailing and harassment in society.

    The
    federal government, Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) and Pakistan
    Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) were made parties to the petition
    calling for a ban on the Tik Tok.

    The
    petition requested the court to instruct the PTA to ban Tik Tok in the country The
    court should stop the PEMRA from airing Tik Tok videos, the petition read.

    Chinese firm to launch online cab service in Pakistan

    A Chinese firm is set to launch its online taxi service in Pakistan on August 10. The service known as Buraq will be launched in six major cities of the country including Karachi, Lahore, Faisalabad, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and Peshawar, and later it would be extended to other cities.

    According to officials, the service would initially offer a 10% discount on rides to educational institutions, medical centers and marriage halls. Professionals including teachers, army personnel and students would also be given special discounts. The application will be available on the Google Play Store.

    The application will work like the existing Careem or Uber and people who want to work with this taxi service could register their vehicles with the company without any precondition. Buraq drivers will get 97% share of their earned money, while the company will get only 2% from drivers while 1% would be added to Drivers’ Club for health and education services for the families of drivers.

    People could register their bikes, cars, rickshaws, pickups, Qingqi loaders, and trucks with the company and get multiple ways of earning.
