Tekken 7 Pro Arslan Ash who put Pakistan on the eSports map wishes he had a different passport

Arslan Siddique, widely recognised as Arslan Ash, has emerged as an iconic figure within the Tekken 7 community, serving as an invaluable source of motivation for Pakistan’s gaming enthusiasts.

With an astounding record of four Evo championship victories, Ash has indelibly etched his name into the annals of gaming history, thrusting Pakistan into the global eSports spotlight.

Nevertheless, recent events have seen Ash express his frustration regarding the limitations of his Pakistani passport, which currently ranks a modest 100th in the Passport Rankings, lagging even behind countries such as Yemen and Somalia, positioned at 99th.

Taking to the social platform X, formerly known as Twitter, Ash, who notably secured a remarkable $500,000 prize at the Nations Cup in South Korea in July, candidly stated, “Sometimes, I really wish I didn’t have a Pakistani passport.”

His remarks stem from reported hardships, encompassing visa denials and travel complications encountered while representing Pakistan in international gaming competitions.

Ash’s statements elicited a diverse spectrum of reactions across social media channels. Some empathised with the obstacles he faces and shared their own feelings of frustration, while others pointed out his triumphant journeys to nations like Japan and South Korea, where, with a Pakistani passport, he clinched multiple prestigious titles.

Here’s how Ash clarified the ‘context’ of his earlier post:

Pakistani Tekken master Arslan Ash has won the EVO Championship held in Las Vegas (USA) on Sunday. He has won the EVO title for the 4th time; twice in Japan, and twice in the USA. He is still undefeated in EVO Championship.
Arslan Ash also won the EVO Japan Combo breaker this year. His winning percentage with ZAFINA is 76% while with KUNIMITSU, it stands at 72%.
In the top 6, Arslan beat Ulsan where he was so close to a upset but at the last moment, he prevailed. Then he beat AO twice in finals and then in the grand finals by 3-0.
His last obstacle in this year is the Tekken World Tour.

Pakistan’s Atif Butt wins the Tekken World Tour Finals 2022

In another crown for Pakistan’s game community, Atif Butt emerged as the new “King of the Iron Fist” on Sunday after winning the Tekken World Tour 2022.

The event brought together 24 elite players, with some securing their place through the Regional Finals and others through the Last Chance Qualifiers. This marked the first Tekken World Tour in three years and may be one of the last opportunities for players to showcase their skills in an offline setting for Tekken 7.

The highly-anticipated Tekken World Tour 2022 offered a grand prize of $100,000, with the champion, Atif Butt, earning a substantial portion of the winnings at $50,000. In the final match, Butt faced off against JeonDDing and delivered a commanding performance, solidifying his victory and maintaining his undefeated record throughout the tournament.

Butt established himself as a formidable competitor in the Tekken World Tour 2022, showcasing his skills with a string of impressive victories. During the preliminary stage, he excelled in his group, earning a coveted spot in the Finals Bracket and demonstrating his mastery of the game.

Unfortunately, Arsalan Ash’s performance in the Tekken World Tour 2022 did not meet expectations, as he was unable to advance to the Finals Bracket, with three losses in five games during the Group Stage.

However, Atif Butt’s remarkable comeback in the Winners Finals against Chikurin was a highlight of the tournament. He recovered from an early 0-2 deficit to secure a thrilling 3-2 victory. In the Grand Finals, he faced JeonDDing and dominated the match, sweeping him 3-0 to earn the title of World Champion.

Bandai Namco has announced the start of the next iteration of the Tekken World Tour, set to commence on March 31, 2023. The tour will kick off at EVO Japan 2023, hosted at the Tokyo Big Sight from March 31 to April 2. This will serve as the first of several major tournaments to be included in the Tekken World Tour 2023.

VIDEO: 23yo Pakistani’s sajda after ‘World’s Best Tekken Player’ title will give you goosebumps

A 23-year-old youngster from Lahore has been crowned the world’s best Tekken 7 player at 2019 Evolution Championship Series (EVO) in Las Vegas.

According to the details, Arslan Siddiqui aka Arslan Ash, who was relatively unknown in the competitive circuit a year ago, has edged out Jae-Min Bae aka Knee in the grand finals of one of, if not the biggest, fighting game tournament series in the world.

He was also awarded a cash prize of around $14,000.

According to VICE, it’s the third time Siddiqui has bested South Korea’s Jae-Min, who many from the gaming community considered a “god” of the game. It’s a monumental win, considering the former was virtually unheard of a year ago.

The 23-year-old had previously also won the second Evo Japan in February, becoming the first-ever unified EVO champion.

EVO hosted nine official fighting games this year, including Tekken 7, whose competitive scene is centered around a few countries: Japan, the United States (US), and South Korea.

This year’s top eight consists of players from those very same countries: four players from Japan, two players from South Korea and one player from the US, however, Siddiqui is the exception.
