Did Gen (r) Faiz Hameed plans TLP’s Faizabad sit-in?
The commission set up to probe the Faizabad sit-in case has completed its report and is ready to submit it to the government and other authorities at any time.
One of the members connected to the commission told The News that the investigation in the case is already complete and the commission can submit its report to relevant authorities soon.
“It will be submitted to the government and other authorities at any time,” the source said.
The commission interviewed many individuals, including some high profile persons like the then DG (C) Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and former ISI chief Lt Gen (retd) Faiz Hameed, the then prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, the then interior and defence ministers Ahsan Iqbal and Khawaja Aasif respectively and concerned senior police and civil administration officials of Rawalpindi and Islamabad.
The commission will focus on figuring out what the former ISI chief’s role was. Its report will reveal if Hameed was responsible for the Faizabad sit-in.
The government formed the commission on the instructions of the Supreme Court (SC) to investigate who was involved in the Faizabad sit-in. The commission investigated who had planned, financed, and supported a sit-in at Islamabad’s Faizabad area six years ago.

‘Possible short circuit’, Police launch investigation into Gujjar Khan church fire
The Punjab government has initiated a thorough investigation into the burning of a church in Gujjar Khan, The News reported on Monday.
However, police of that specific location didn’t register a first information report (FIR) of the case.
Investigators explained that the church had been constructed on land owned by the National Highway Authority (NHA) many years ago. NHA authorities themselves erected a building measuring 12 marlas on Kaliam Road approximately 25 years ago and relocated the church there.
They also said that Gujjar Khan Church had been empty for more than 12 years. The elders of the Christian community started Sunday services at Kaliam Road Church peacefully around 10 years ago. A preliminary investigation report has been sent to the Punjab Home Office, but it hasn’t identified any particular group or person involved.
Regional Police Officer (RPO), Rawalpindi Region, Babar Sarfaraz Alpa, when contacted to obtain his version about the occurrence, said, “The police recovered nothing yet except that the fire erupted due to a short circuit. However, the police have not given up the probe.” The investigators have collected forensic evidence and examined it, but have gotten no clue so far, the RPO concluded.
Dr. Majeed Abel, the Executive Secretary of the Presbyterian Church of Pakistan, urged authorities to uncover and disclose what happened to the church. He demanded that those responsible be held accountable under the law.

Why did PTI’s Sher Afzal Marwat slap a private guard?
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Sher Afzal Marwat can be seen in a video slapping a man at a political rally in Peshawar.
As per the details of Geo News, Marwat slapped his personal guard in anger as he got stuck in the midst of a crowd of PTI supporters.
“In view of terrorism, my guard was telling me to sit in the car,” the politician said, adding that he was pushing the workers away and restricting them from coming near him.
“I forbade the guard not to pull me,” Marwat said.
Whatever the reason for the slap, violence in any form is reprehensible, especially when it’s unleashed by a powerful individual against a weaker one.

PTI alleges widespread rigging, boycotts Sindh Senate elections
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has announced that it will not take part in Senate polls in Sindh on April 2, citing alleged widespread rigging.
“Senate elections are being won through rigging,” PTI leader Haleem Adil Sheikh said while addressing a press conference in Karachi on Sunday.
He said that the people who won elections according to Form 45 are not members of the Sindh Assembly. Pointing out that six candidates supported by PTI were participating in the Senate elections in Sindh, he said they have decided to boycott the upcoming polls.
“The incumbent government is going to be buried in a mass grave. We won elections on 180 seats in the general elections, but most of them were taken away,” he alleged.
On Wednesday, 14 candidates decided to withdraw their nomination papers for the Senate elections in the province. Following this, the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) is expected to secure one of the two Senate seats reserved for women without facing any competition.

Punishing Nawaz Sharif on Iqama was judge’s mistake, says Aleema Khan
Founder Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan’s sister Aleema Khan has said that punishing Nawaz Sharif on Iqama in the Panama case was a judge’s mistake.
Talking to media in Islamabad, Aleema Khan declared that the letter from six Islamabad High Court (IHC) judges has revealed the wrongdoing of many individuals. She emphasised the importance of judges advocating for justice, stating that without their support, justice cannot prevail. Aleema Khan urged lawyers to unite in solidarity.
Imran Khan’s sister stated that the judge made a mistake in the Panama case. She pointed out that the former prime minister was sentenced in the Iqama case, not in the original case, adding that if he were punished in the original case, he would not be free today.
Aleema continued to say that if pay attention to the cipher case, there will be no doubt in the statement of Asad Majeed. The 10-year sentence in the cipher case and the treason case will be buried; this case is being conducted to save Donald Lu.

Former caretaker PM Anwaarul Haq Kakar becomes senator again
Former caretaker prime minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar was elected a senator again on Thursday.
According to the details, the unopposed election phase for seven senators from Balochistan has concluded. Following this, the returning officer has issued notifications to the successful senators who won without any opposition.
Ahmad Khan Ghilzai (JUI-F), Aimal Wali Khan (ANP) were also elected as senators.

PTI to stage protest on Sunday in solidarity with judges
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) announced on Thursday that it will stage a protest on Sunday in solidarity with judges and for the release of PTI founder Imran Khan.
“The PTI is going to stage a rally for the freedom of the judiciary on the directives issued by the founder of the PTI,” party Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan said while talking to the media after a meeting with Imran Khan.
Earlier, Adiala jail authorities gave permission to 11 PTI leaders and the PTI’s legal team to visit Imran Khan in prison, including Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, Shoaib Shaheen, Sher Afzal Marwat, Faisal Javaid, Zartaj Gul and Amir Niazi.
“We will soon write a letter to the Chief Justice of Pakistan on behalf of the founder of PTI, while Imran Khan, in his message from the jail, has expressed complete solidarity with the cause of the judiciary’s freedom,” Barrister Gohar said.
This development comes after six judges of the IHC — Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kiyani, Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri, Justice Babar Sattar, Justice Sardar Ejaz Ishaq Khan, Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir, and Justice Saman Rafat Imtiaz — wrote to the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) to convene a judicial convention over the matter of the alleged interference of members of the executive, including operatives of intelligence agencies, in judicial affairs.

PM Shehbaz reviews security situation of Chinese citizens in high-level meeting
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held a high-level meeting on Wednesday to review the security situation of foreign nationals, particularly Chinese citizens.
After a suicide attack on Chinese engineers in Shangla on Tuesday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif called for a high-level security meeting to assess and improve security measures for foreigners, especially focusing on Chinese residents in Pakistan.
PM Shehbaz also reviewed the overall situation of the country, however, the main focus was on the security of Chinese nationals.
Federal ministers, heads of security agencies, inspector general of police, and other relevant authorities also participated in the meeting.
All the participants in the meeting condemned the suicide attack on Chinese engineers in Shangla.

Former first lady, Bushra Bibi has alleged during a hearing on Tuesday that some substance was mixed in her honey in Bani Gala, leading to her becoming unwell.
“There was something mixed in my honey, and when I came back home after hearing and eating honey, my health worsened.”
Bushra Bibi also said that if something happens to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, the establishment will be responsible.
“Life and death are in the hands of Allah,” she said, adding that Imran Khan is physically fit and in good health.
Bushra Bibi also stated that Khan is in jail for the people of Pakistan, and the masses will not forgive the people in power if something happens to him.
The PTI founder kept stopping Bushra Bibi from speaking during the hearing yesterday.
