Film about Titanic submersible tragedy is in development

The Ocean Gate Titanic submersible tragedy shocked the world as multiple countries worked frantically to save five billionaires trapped under the sea. The effort ended in tragedy, as all aboard the sun died, including the founder Stockton Rush.

Now, there is a film in development which will explore the incident, according to Deadline.

The film’s title is ‘Salvaged’ and the producer is E. Brian Dobbins, who is also working with his company MindRiot Entertainment to produce a docuseries about Kyle Bingham, the former director of Ocean Gate.

“The Titan tragedy is reminiscent of the space shuttle Challenger disaster of 1986: it’s a tragedy I’ll never forget,” said Justin MacGregor, the group’s head of European content

James Cameron, the director behind the 1997 romantic thriller ‘Titanic’ criticised the idea of making a film on the Oceangate tragedy, saying, “It doesn’t respond to offensive rumors in the media usually but I need to now.”

“I’m NOT in talks about an OceanGate film, nor will I ever be,” the Avatar director said.

Ocean gate co-founder now wants to build a colony on Venus, Twitter told him to sit down

After the tragic spectacle that was Titangate, now the new co-founder of Ocean Gate Expeditions, Guillermo Söhnlein, has announced a proposal to take 10,000 people on a floating colony to Venus by 2050. Keeping in mind that Venus, also known as “The Morning Star”, is the planet with the warmest atmosphere with a surface hot enough to melt lead.

The company has previously been slammed online for the Titan submersible which imploded during a journey to the wreck of the Titanic, killing all five occupants on the board, including the co-founder Stockton Rush.

When the news went viral on social media, Twitter couldn’t hold back the roasts because seriously after one catastrophe, you can’t seem to sit down?

Critics slam world’s largest cruise ship as a “monstrosity” comparable to Titanic

The Icon of the Seas, the world’s largest cruise ship, operated by Royal Caribbean International, has faced heavy criticism from skeptics who liken its upcoming maiden voyage to the ill-fated Titanic, according to The New York Post.

Royal Caribbean International President and CEO, Michael Bayley, views the ship as a revolutionary advancement in sea travel, positioning it as the ultimate family vacation.

Set to embark on its first journey in January of next year, the ship has an astounding internal volume of 250,800 gigatonnes (GT), dwarfing the Titanic’s 46,328 GT.

The vessel boasts an array of features, including seven pools, nine whirlpools, and a record-breaking water park with six slides aptly named “Category 6.” It spans 19 floors, equivalent to the height of a New York City building, accommodating approximately 5,610 passengers and 2,350 crew members.

While the ship has completed its initial tests, critics argue that its grand scale does not guarantee an improved experience.

Online commentators have expressed their dismay, labeling the Icon of the Seas a nightmare and comparing it to visions of hell. Despite skepticism, the ship has generated significant attention, with the cheapest ticket for a seven-night cruise priced at $1,851 and the most expensive at $10,864.

As the vessel’s maiden voyage approaches, opinions remain divided, with some fascinated by the ship’s remarkable features while others view it with intense dread. The ship’s size and ambitious design have ignited a spirited debate about the future of cruising and whether bigger truly means better in the eyes of travelers.

  • US Navy heard sound of sub imploding shortly after it went missing

US Navy heard sound of sub imploding shortly after it went missing

In a Wall Street Journal exclusive, it has been revealed that the U.S. Navy heard sounds of the OceanGate Titan implosion hours after it began its voyage on Sunday.

A top secret acoustic detection system, used by the American Navy to detect enemy submarines, first registered the sound of an implosion near the recently discovered debris site on Sunday, US defence officials told WSJ.

“The U.S. Navy conducted an analysis of acoustic data and detected an anomaly consistent with an implosion or explosion in the general vicinity of where the Titan submersible was operating when communications were lost,” a senior U.S. Navy official told the Journal, as reported by The Insider

“While not definitive, this information was immediately shared with the Incident Commander to assist with the ongoing search and rescue mission.”

On the topic of withholding this information from the public, a senior advisor with the Center for Strategic and International Studies told the Washington Post:

“What you’re looking at is just lines on a graph [referring to the registered sounds]. And if you try to convince people you weren’t doing a search because the lines on a graph indicated an implosion, that wouldn’t be acceptable to many.”

In a previous interview with The Insider, professor of marine robotics at the University of Sydney, Stefan Williams, said that in the case of an implosion, the five passengers’ death would have been instantaneous.

    An anticipated tragedy

Turns out the U.S. Navy was not the only one with knowledge of the detected sounds. In an interview with CNN, Hollywood director James Cameron revealed that his contacts in the deep sea exploration community had revealed the Titan had likely imploded.

Cameron is a big deep sea enthusiast, having travelled to the wreckage of the Titanic himself in 1995, prior to creating his iconic movie about the vessel’s tragic maiden voyage.

When Cameron learned from his colleagues in what he calls the “deep submergence community” that both communications and tracking of the craft had been lost simultaneously, he began to suspect an implosion, “a shockwave of events so powerful that it actually took out” the tracking and comms.

He went on to say, “I took that as a factor…I couldn’t think of any other scenario in which a sub would be lost where it lost comms and navigation at the same time, and stayed out of touch and did not surface.”

    History repeating itself?

In an interview with ABC News, Cameron went on to comment on how ‘struck’ he was by the similarities between the missing Titan submersible and the Titanic shipwreck.

Namely that both catastrophes took place because of the failure to heed prior warnings. The original Titanic sank when the captain rammed the ocean liner into an iceberg (at full speed), in spite of being warned about the ice.

Similarly, Cameron criticised OceanGate for failing to heed warnings about the submersible’s experimental approach – the tourism company had been warned in 2018 by a group of industry professionals about its vessel not meeting voluntary industry standards and the possibility of “minor to catastrophic” outcomes.

In 2018, a whistleblower was fired from the company for raising concerns about the safety of its Titan submersible.

Billionaire stepson goes to concert while father missing in titanic submarine, Cardi B says rather be poor than be like him

Was this day already not long enough that celebrities decided to step in and fire up some drama?

As the search for the missing submarine goes on, with approximately 8 hours left till the oxygen runs out, the world watches with baited breath.
However, it seems like on land there is a different sort of problem brewing up, started by the stepson of one of the missing billionaires: Brian Szasz.

Szasz, the stepson of wealthy British explorer Hamish Harding, went viral on Twitter when he was seen commenting under posts by Only Fans models, and shared pictures of himself attending a Blink 182 concert on Tuesday while reports emerged that search for the missing billionaires remained unsuccessful.

Rapper Cardi B schooled Szasz in a post on her Instagram stories, where she lamented that the son chose to spend his time at a concert, rather than remain with his family at home to wait for news.

“People is like, ‘Well, what is he supposed to do? Be sad at the house? Is he supposed to go look for himself?’ Yes.”

You supposed to be at the house sad. You supposed to be crying for me. You supposed to be right next to the phone waiting to hear any updates about me. You’re supposed to be consoling your mom and **.”

Then finally the ‘Bodak Yellow’ rapper slammed the step=son by saying, “Isn’t it sad that you a whole ******* billionaire and nobody gives a ** about you? […] That’s crazy. I’d rather be broke. I’d rather be broke and poor, but knowing that I’m loved.”

Szasz had responded to Cardi’s comments in a lengthy Twitter post, lamenting the rapper’s outburst.

“Cardi is trying to get clout off me and my family’s suffering. I went to a Blink-182 concert for coping rather than sitting at home and watching the news.”

The ‘WAP’ artist responded to Szasz’s comments, slamming him for searching for clout himself by publicly sharing the fact that he went to a concert, while the whole world was praying for his stepdad to come back safely.

“The point was the whole world is praying for these people in the submarine and this man son is online shaking d***s for girls off onlyfans and going to Blink 182 concerts. You was looking for clout all along, nobody knew who you were until you said that was ya stepdad!!! This is why people hate you spoiled brat billionaires yall soo desensitize.”

Pakistani businessman Shahzada Dawood and his son Sulaiman Dawood are currently onboard a missing OceanGate tourist submersible vessel that was carrying five people to see the wreck of the Titanic at the bottom of the North Atlantic Ocean.

The Dawood family has released the following statement:

“As of now, contact has been lost with their submersible craft and there is limited information available. A rescue effort that is being jointly led by multiple government agencies and deep-sea companies is underway to reestablish contact with the submersible and bring them back safely,” read the statement.

“We are very grateful for the concern being shown by our colleagues and friends and would like to request everyone to pray for their safety while granting the family privacy at this time. The family is well looked after and are praying to Allah for the safe return of their family members,” it added.

Shahzada Dawood is a trustee of the SETI Institute in California and vice chairman of Dawood Hercules Corporation, part of the Dawood Group.

The OceanGate Titan craft submerged Sunday morning, and its support vessel lost contact with it about an hour and 45 minutes later, The Independent has said.

OceanGate Expeditions is a company that offers eight-day missions to see the Titanic debris at a cost of $250,000 per person. The organisation confirmed its submarine was lost at sea with crew members on board, and that it is exploring all options to rescue the five people onboard. The company’s chief executive is also believed to be on the craft.

Officials confirmed government agencies, the US and Canadian navies and commercial deep-sea firms are helping in the rescue operation, as reported by the BBC.

The craft they were on board dives with a four day emergency supply of oxygen. Addressing a news conference, Rear Adm John Mauger of the US Coast Guard said there is somewhere between 70 and the full 96 hours of oxygen available at this point

British billionaire explorer Hamish Harding and renowned French diver Paul-Henri Nargeolet are also among the passengers onboard.

In an interview with People at the Golden Globes 2023, Avatar: The Way of Water director James Cameron revealed Leonardo DiCaprio didn’t want to become the leading man in his Titanic. He said, “He didn’t want to do a leading man. I had to really twist his arm to be in the movie. He didn’t want to do it. He thought it was boring. It didn’t surprise me, first of all, that he’s made a lot of authentic choices going forward. And secondly, I never doubted his talent.”

Going further in the conversation, James explained how he had to fight for him and convince him to do the role. He even shared that he cannot imagine Titanic without Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet. He said, “I think about that casting Leonardo and Kate in Titanic. Leo, the studio didn’t want him; I had to fight for him. Kate really liked him and then Leonardo decided he didn’t want to make the movie. So then I had to talk him into it. You think at any one of those places, if that had really kind of frayed apart, it would have been somebody else and it wouldn’t have been that film. I can’t imagine that film without him and without her.”

Well, Titanic is in its 25th year and the movie’s re-release is doing rounds all over the news and the internet. Kate and Leonardo’s on-screen chemistry is something we all look forward to in our subconscious minds.

  • FACT CHECK: Disney offers Johnny Depp a staggering PKR 6100 crore for ‘POTC’ sequel?

FACT CHECK: Disney offers Johnny Depp a staggering PKR 6100 crore for ‘POTC’ sequel?

Hollywood veteran Johnny Depp has received an apology letter from Disney, requesting him to return to the Pirates Of The Caribbean.

Owing to the accusations made by actress Amber Heard, Johnny was ousted from Fantastic Beasts 3 and Pirates Of The Caribbean.

As per an Australian pop culture site Poptopic.com, Disney has now finally apologized to Depp. They reportedly made a heartening gesture and even offered him a whopping $301 million to return as the iconic Jack Sparrow in the next installment of POTC.

A source close to the publication revealed, “I know corporate sent him a gift basket with a very heartfelt letter, but I’m unsure how it was received. But what I can tell you is that the studio has already penned up a draft for a film about Jack Sparrow, so they are very hopeful that Johnny will forgive them and return as his iconic character.”

However, there remains no confirmation of the same. In fact, the article has raised doubts as the amount offered by Disney seems to be really close to what Johnny mentioned in the defamation trial.

If one recalls, Depp had said that he would not return to Pirates Of The Caribbean now even if he was paid a sum of something as huge as $301 million. Furthermore, producers have previously clarified that they have no plans to bring back the veteran actor so far. So this is nothing but just another rumour.

Depp’s current net worth is over USD 150 million, as he has made some staggering real estate investments which include luxury islands, French villages, and English country homes among others.

Johnny’s lifestyle is like his persona, larger than life and unbelievably exorbitant.

    • $300,000 on staff, including 40 full-time employees
    • $150,000 on security for himself and his family
    • $200,000 for a private jet

The Gilbert Grape actor loves to live like a true superstar.

According to TMG, Depp spent more than $75 million to buy and furnish 14 residences, including an entire village in France. Depp is now trying to unload the town, which features a church, a restaurant and several houses, for $63 million.

In a January 2017 filing, Depp mismanaged his finances, costing him millions. TMG counterclaimed that Depp dug himself into a financial hole.

Titanic II is preparing to sail in 2022

Titanic II, a nearly identical replica of the doomed ship, might make its maiden trip in 2022, giving fans a chance to experience the journey themselves.

According to reports, Australian businessman and politician Clive Palmer is behind the initiative. Work on the ship recently restarted after a financial dispute with the Chinese government stopped development back in 2015. The idea for the ship was first floated in 2012.

The new ship will be an identical copy of the ship, which sank in 1912 after hitting an iceberg. It will have the same cabin layout, public areas, swimming pool, Turkish baths, and a grand staircase as the original ship.

Titanic II will also be equipped with plenty of life boats and will have modern navigation and radar equipment to avoid any disaster.

When construction is completed, there will be nine floors and 840 cabins, and passengers will have their pick between first, second, or third-class tickets. The first sailing is scheduled to take place in 2022.
