After the teasers of Ahad Raza Mir and Sajal Aly’s latest drama, Ye Dil Mera created frenzy on social media – the play was being compared to 50 Shades of Grey! – the writer and director of the play came forward with their explanations and said that the drama serial will be a romantic thriller and that one should wait for it to release before passing criticism.
I wish you first watched the episode and then pass judgements.
Director Aehsun Talish while speaking to Hum TV about the teaser’s feedback said, “Well, let the critics say what they need to as that’s the ambiguity created by the teasers and they are playing their part well.”
Shedding light on the plot, Talish said, “Ye Dil Mera is a romantic thriller, a story that unfolds layers and layers of memories of the past beneath the calm and sweet love story.”
Meanwhile, Farhat also shared a new poster of the serial which also features Adnan Siddiqui.
The teasers of Ahad Raza Mir and Sajal Aly’s latest drama Yeh Mera Dil released Saturday and has created quite a stir.
The drama is the engaged couple’s third project after Yakeen ka Safar and Aangan – both of which also aired on Hum TV.
From the look of it, the drama will be a love story where Ahad plays Sajal’s suave boss. The promos have scenic shots of the two in the Northern Areas of Pakistan and are visually very appealing.
While the aesthetics and cast of the drama look good, people are not too pleased with the teaser – some are likening it to workplace harassment while others are comparing it to 50 Shades of Grey.
Would have left the interview but yes let’s romanticize creepy bastards. https://t.co/3MzGkr2AGU
Hamna makes a valid point. Sajal & Ahad are great together, but the content is worrying. 1 because as she points out the potential boss coming on to the applicant & 2, because women with career ambitions or talent shouldn’t have to put up with such advances. https://t.co/8uiwkFk5NA
If someone spoke to me like that at a job interview, I’d leave right away. And I can do that because I have the privilege to walk away from a sleazy boss. How many girls would be able to take a stand like that for themselves? This isn’t romantic. It’s sleazy as fuck. https://t.co/ZxXalioAei
Mujhe ye samjh nahi aati ye Ahad Raza Mir type actors bahr sae parhai kyun karte hai jab yaha aise cheap 50 Shades of Gray ripoff dramay karne hote hai?
Meanwhile, others took to defend the drama and asked people to wait for it to release before criticising.
Why are people “disappointed”? How in the world do you judge on a 20 seconds teaser? Even If its about workplace harassment how do u know they didn’t give her justice or punish the criminal? How do u know they just romanticized the situation? Wait for the show people! #YehDilMera

Hum TV’s Khaas has been trending for all the good reasons. The drama which highlighted emotional abuse has been a refresher in the list of otherwise mundane dramas.
As the drama is nearing its end – the 26th episode of it aired this week – fans are happy with the way things are turning out. Ammar and his family are getting what they deserved and Saba and Fakhir are living happily together.
However, after the latest episode in which Fakhir referred to himself in the past tense and has a nightmare of a car crash, audiences feel that the makers are putting in an unnecessary twist and will be killing off Fakhir’s character.
#Khaas what’s with the constant hints at Fakhir dying? Apko koi allergy hai happy couple scenario se?
@HaroonsMusic why are there constant hints of fakhir dying? And he seemed a little disoriented infront of ammar. if he dies, I will boycott every drama starring you. What is this behaviour fakhir?#khaas
The grand Royal reception hosted for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge at the Pakistan Monument in Islamabad by the British High Commissioner to Pakistan Thomas Drew and his wife saw the who’s who in Pakistan in attendance. From politicians to celebrities to sportsmen to entrepreneurs – it was a star-studded event and one we wish we also had a chance to attend. But since that didn’t happen, we were glued to our phones for all the live updates from the event.
While a lot of celebrities were in attendance at the event, not everyone got a chance to snap a picture with the royal couple.
King of Couture, Hassan Sheheryar Yasin was among the few lucky ones who were introduced to William and Kate. He not only got a picture but also got a chance to interact with them. We hear that Kate will be donning an outfit by the designer on the visit.

Maheen Khan, whose creation the Duchess wore for her first royal engagement also interacted with the couple.
Mehwish Hayat said that it was a “real pleasure” to meet the royal visitors.
Was a real pleasure to meet with the royal visitors last night. William is a real life Prince Charming & was genuinely excited abt being here. Hope that this visit helps show the world the real side of Pakistan & not what media has been showing. #RoyaltourPakistan#PrinceWilliampic.twitter.com/9wY8BRDGp0
Mahira Khan and Masarrat Misbah also got a moment with the Prince.
As did Shehzad Roy.
Others who attended the event included Atif Aslam, Hareem Farooq, Momina Mustehsan, Yousaf Sallahuddin, Ahad Raza Mir, Sajal Aly, Wasim and Shaniera Akram and Shaan Shahid.
Atif looked dapper in a sherwani by Mohsin Naveed Ranjha while Mahira looked lovely in Misha Lakhani.
While the celebrities have not yet shared high-quality pictures yet, UK-based DJ Noreen Khan who was the red carpet host, shared pictures with the celebrities.
Last night’s episode of Ehd-e-Wafa was a rollercoaster – the SSG fought and broke up and Osman Khalid Butt’s character Shahzain shot dead a horse for losing a race.
Those invested in the drama were naturally upset with the way things progressed and the scene in which Shahzain shot the horse triggered many. No disclaimer was given before the scene. However, the gun was blurred out.
As social media users took to Instagram to express their disgust at the scene, Butt explained to them the context and other details behind it.
While he was at it, Osman also decided to answer some other questions.
Like how he made Ahad slap him for the scene.
And how it was DG ISPR who decided the cast of the drama.
High after the success of his film Zindagi Tamasha, which won a standing ovation at the Busan International Film Festival, ace filmmaker Sarmad Khoosat is all set to start shooting his next film Kamli at various locations in Pakistan. The film starres Saba Qamar in the lead.
Speaking to Variety, Sarmad revealed: “A tragic love story at heart, the film is going to be a fresh mix of a rustic setting captured in a contemporary, universal sensibility.”
“Unlike other films of the genre, Kamli is not only going to depict the vibrancy and humour of rural Punjab but also its poetic lyricism and love-lore in an international film aesthetic,” he added.
The film which is expected to release in Summer 2020 will feature Sania Saeed and Hamza Khwaja along with Saba.
Meanwhile, Khoosat’s Zindagi Tamasha had its world premiere at the Busan International Film Festival and was received positively. It will release in Pakistan in January 2020.
Speaking about Zindagi Tamasha, Khoosat said, ”What was most important to me was exploring the idea of tolerance. Tolerance not just to others (to allow people to exist the way they are) but also tolerance to self – and this is where the concept of shame, need for approval, etc. come in to play,” said Khoosat. “I have been in situations where I have felt I should have been more tolerant of others and more accepting of my own self.”
Sharing his thoughts on the evolving Pakistani film industry, Khoosat said, “The mainstream is governed by commerce, but very interesting parallel cinema has also made its space – films like Moor (which was also screened at Busan), Cake, Laal Kabootar, and even my first film Manto. The challenge remains financial support for genres beyond comedy or romance.”
On the ban on Bollywood in Pakistan, Sarmad remarked, “The absence of Indian films has highlighted just how promising the Pakistani industry still is.”
ARY’s on-going drama, Gul o Gulzaar, which has a few episodes left, drags a bit but hits a realistic note.
Two besties, Gul, played by Saboor Aly and Gulzar played by Kinza Hashmi are inseparable. Gulzar’s father is a teacher while Gul’s father is a fruit seller. Gulzar is the prettier, richer, sweeter and the beychari one of the two.
One day a creepy guy Adil, played my Omer Shahzad, sees Gulzar outside her school and gives her his number (and also a declaration of love). Gulzar is so shocked kay haw hai, dekho kaise number dia and Gul agrees – except Gul has ulterior motives and a plan to get with this loaded, “gari wala” guy herself. So she calls Adil and tells him how Gulzar is a terrible person, doesn’t like him, and is also getting engaged.
Of course, Adil and Gul then get together and Gul decides to run away with him – the twist is that she doesn’t tell Gulzar about her plans. Not only that, she also steals Gulzar’s brother’s honay wali biwi’s wedding jewellery from Gulzar’s closet, the night before Gulzar’s brother’s wedding). So all hell breaks loose, with Gul’s father accusing Gulzar of making her daughter run away with some guy.
So Gulzar’s reputation is also being ruined because she is best friends with a runaway woman, so her father and brother decide to get her married to a guy she hasn’t seen. The guy is the only child, good, sharif (obviously). She agrees and sees the guy’s picture the day of her mehndi and the guy, Jamal played by Paras Masroor, isn’t the best looking. It’s also really really uncomfortable HOW they portray this darker-skinned, not so bad looking guy as soo ugly that Gulzar cannot fathom marrying him.
Gul has called Gulzar and told her how happy she is living her huge house with a hot husband who will take her to London. So Gulzar calls up Gul after she sees Jamal’s picture and asks her to help her run away. Gul jumps at the chance and says she’ll pick Gulzar up at dawn and when Gulzar is running away from her house, she hears the Azaan. So she goes back in and does the right thing and marries Jamal.
Poor Gulzar and now-loaded Gul
Gulzar soon realizes that money is not everything and sharif log and amazing saas are so much more important. Meanwhile, we find out that Gul’s life is not as rosy as she made it sound. Her husband has given her a lot of money and a huge house but hidden her from his family. In this time, Gul finds out that Adil is getting married to someone else and she’s the secret wife. So she goes over to his parent’s house and exposes the truth – and finds out that Adil was married to another girl before her and his parents had to pay off the first wife. Before they could do the same with Gul, Gul finds out she’s pregnant and there’s no way she will let Adil go (Adil is also a physically abusive husband, but that’s not as important as money right?)
Adil gets married to another girl with Gul still living as the secret wife and Gulzar is still super conflicted about living a happy life on a motorbike or wanting the rich life.
The drama is pretty dramatic at points and slightly cringe-worthy too but it does reflect key elements in our society – and any society; people will live in crappy marriages for money, best friends can betray each other and family values change from family to family. The episodes drag a lot and one is tempted (and does) forward a lot but the highlight of the whole drama is Gul. Saboor Aly’s acting in the drama is excellent (a little over at times) but overall, excellently done.
There’s bound to be a twist – most likely between Adil and Gulzar since they were the original couple – and it’ll be interesting to see how the dynamics change when it comes to love or money.
Ace filmmaker Sarmad Khoosat has returned to the silver screen with yet another riveting film, Zindagi Tamasha (Circus of Life).
The film which starres Arif Hassan, Samiya Mumtaz, Eman Suleman and Ali Qureshi in the lead is centred around a Naat Khwan Rahat Khawaja (played by Hassan) and his family who are outcast from society when a secret of Khawaja’s is leaked.
Meanwhile, the official synopsis states: “The film is an intimate portrait of a family as well as a scorching political commentary on little gods on this earth who police our private passions.”
The trailer also hints that the topic of blasphemy will be touched upon in the film.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bAYXVRQeT5U
Given the intolerance and misuse of the religion card in our society, Zindagi Tamasha will be a harsh wakeup call.
The film will initially premiere at the Busan Film Festival in South Korea later this week and will release locally some time this year.
Pakistani celebs took to social media to express their excitement for the film.
Loved it when I first saw it.. love it every time I watch it now ♥️ @KhoosatSarmad https://t.co/eDAwSbz9QQ
