‘Humein bhi Imran Khan wali luxuries chahiye’; prisoners demand equal treatment

In a new development, prisoners across the province of Punjab have demanded the same special facilities provided to founder Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan in Adiala Jail.

The inmates penned a letter to Punjab prisons inspector general expressing their desire to be given the same amenities as Imran Khan.

In the letter, concerns were expressed about the “open violation” of the Prison Rules 1978 regarding the services available to the former Prime Minister.

Khan is currently incarcerated in a better-class (B-class) facilities prison at Adiala Jail under high security due to his status of being a former ruler of the country.

Geo News reported that there is a dedicated kitchen for preparing Khan’s meals and he occupies two of the seven special cells, typically accommodating 35 prisoners. The remaining five of the cells remain vacant for security reasons.

The details, stated in a report submitted to the Lahore High Court by a jail superintendent last month, also include that Khan uses a yard equipped with exercise machines and other amenities for his daily walks and recreational activities.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Ali Muhammad Khan said on Friday that he will file a plea against the Adiala jail administration in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) for not allowing him to meet incarcerated former Prime Minister Imran Khan.

“I am going to the high court against the jail administration. We were not allowed to meet Imran Khan during the previous appearance, and we are not allowed to meet now,” the politician said, expressing displeasure.

The senior PTI leader stated while talking to journalists outside Adiala jail that he will file a contempt of court petition against Adiala jail officials.

He recalled that when he was imprisoned in Adiala, jail officials treated him badly. He also said that they are doing the same thing again by not allowing him to meet former Prime Minister Imran Khan.

However, the politician expressed confidence in the country’s security agencies to ensure Khan’s safety during his appearances in cases at the Supreme Court.

  • Why are people hating on Aishwarya Rai’s Cannes 2024 look?

Why are people hating on Aishwarya Rai’s Cannes 2024 look?

The Cannes Film Festival is famous for the movies that premiere there, and for the glamorous gowns and high fashion that stars appear in on the red carpet. However, Bollywood star Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s latest red carpet appearance has received mixed reactions from fashion critics and fans.

Aishwarya wore a black gown adorned with intricate golden patterns, designed by Indian designer Falguni Shane Peacock. The dress, meant to capture attention, had several unique elements that sparked different opinions.
The gown combined a fitted black base with large gold appliqués, creating a strong contrast that overwhelmed the dress instead of making a big statement. Adding to the complexity were the large white sleeves that billowed around her shoulders, making her look less flattering.

While puff sleeves can add a touch of Renaissance charm, in Aishwarya’s dress, they made the overall look too heavy. The gold details could have worked well without the sleeves, but instead of adding elegance, they distracted from the harmony and shape of the dress.
Adding to the drama was the train of Aishwarya’s dress, covered in intricate gold and white details. While it was meant to make a statement, the busy design of the train took away from the elegance usually expected at Cannes. She paired the gown with large gold hoop earrings, which, although meant to match the dress, added to the overall busy look.

Despite the mixed opinions, Aishwarya Rai’s fashion choices always capture global attention. As one of Bollywood’s most iconic stars, her red carpet appearances are always eagerly anticipated and widely discussed. Her bold choice at the 77th Cannes Film Festival may not have pleased everyone, but it certainly kept all eyes on her.

Speaker National Assembly suspends Tariq Bashir Cheema for misbehaving with Zartaj Gul

The National Assembly (NA) session on Thursday, chaired by speaker NA Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, ended with heated arguments and important parliamentary decisions.

Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, suspended Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid-e-Azam (PML-Q) leader Tariq Bashir Cheema for today’s parliamentary session after a heated argument took place between him and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Zartaj Gul.

The decision to suspend Cheema was taken to keep decorum and maintain parliamentary standards.

However, the House accepted the question raised by the NA speaker in this regard.

Modi claims to have stopped war in Gaza during Ramzan

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently appeared in an interview with a group of journalists and claimed that he played an instrumental role in stopping the war in Gaza for the month of Ramzan.

In a video clip that surfaced on X (formerly Twitter), shared by ALT News journalist Muhammad Zubair Modi asserted that in the holy month of Ramzan, he sent a special envoy to Israel in order to convince the Israeli Prime Minister to at least stop the war in Gaza for the month. “Kam se kam Ramzan mein Gaza mein bambari na karein,” Modi stressed. He also stated that the Israeli Premier tried to follow his advice but he did make the effort.
