  • PM includes Dar in CCI instead of Aurangzeb

PM includes Dar in CCI instead of Aurangzeb

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reconstituted the Council of Common Interests (CCI) on Friday, notably replacing Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb with Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar.

The PM is heading the CCI which constitutes the chief ministers of all four provinces. Interestingly, this is the first time in the history of the council that a Foreign Minister of Pakistan has been included in the CCI.

Business Recorder article reported that it would be normal if a Finance Minister isn’t included in the CCI because historically it has happened. However, energy and planning ministers were mostly included because they deal with provincial matters.

The presence of the Finance Minister and the Law Minister in the CCI is very important as these two portfolios are required to respond to numerous queries raised by the provinces during the meeting.

A similar pattern could be observed as PM Shehbaz gave Ishaq Dar the control of Cabinet Committee on Privatisation (CCoP) as well instead of including Aurangzeb earlier this month.

Khawaja Asif says General Bajwa ne lamba dhoka dia tha

Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has said on Hamid Mir’s show that former Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa “gave an ultimatum to me that if I condemn Mian Nawaz Sharif’s narrative then all the cases of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) against me would go away.”

Hamid Mir asked the minister whether all three major parties including Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz were directly involved in extending the tenure of the then-COAS, so how could he expect the establishment to stay out of politics.

Asif replied that it was a mistake and that politicians must have a consensus on upholding the dignity of constitution of Pakistan.

Hamid Mir inquired of the minister why he agreed to extend Gen. Bajwa’s tenure despite being threatened. The minister humorously responded that Gen. Bajwa provided ultimatums only after securing his extension successfully.

The notification cited “security reasons” for laying off the major workforce for an indefinite period of time.

Dawn news contacted the general secretary of the Awami Labour Union at the Tarbela project Aslam Adil and he confirmed that under labour laws, the workers who lost their jobs would continue to receive half of their salaries until they are called back.

He further stated that this event won’t cause a “long delay” in the project, expected to be completed by 2026.

  • Is Sania Mirza going to contest India’s Lok Sabha elections?

Is Sania Mirza going to contest India’s Lok Sabha elections?

Indian media has reported that Indian National Congress party is thinking about pitting famous tennis player Sania Mirza against All India Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi from Hyderabad in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. The proposal came from former Indian cricket captain and Congress leader Mohammed Azharuddin.

During a meeting held on Wednesday, the Congress Central Election Committee (CEC) discussed candidates for various states including Goa, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, and Daman and Diu. It is believed that Sania Mirza’s name was also discussed in this meeting.

Experts suggest that Congress wants to use Sania Mirza’s popularity and fame to regain support in Hyderabad’s elections.
The last time Congress won in Hyderabad was in 1980 with K S Narayan as the MP.

Mohammed Azharuddin proposed Sania Mirza’s name for candidature, as there’s a close family connection between the two. Mohammed Asaddudin, the cricketer’s son, married Sania Mirza’s sister, Anam Mirza, in 2019.

Azharuddin competed in the recent Telangana legislative assembly elections but lost to Bharat Rashtra Samithi’s (BRS) Maganti Gopinath from the Jubilee Hills constituency by more than 16,000 votes.

For this Lok Sabha election, BJP has chosen Madhavi Latha as its candidate, and BRS has put forward Gaddam Srinivas Yadav.
The elections for the 543 parliamentary constituencies will happen in seven phases, starting on April 19 and ending on June 1.

  • Revenge is blind and Zamda proved it

Revenge is blind and Zamda proved it

The story of ‘Khaie’ by Saqlain Abbas has reached its conclusion with its 29th episode. Departing from the usual Saas Bahu and love triangle sagas, ‘Khaie’ brought a fresh flavor to television with its unique plot, outstanding acting, and excellent execution.

Zamda fulfills her promise to her mother by seeking revenge against all her enemies, with the last target being Chanaar Khan.

After the murder of Duraab Khan, Zamda’s path towards targeting Chanaar was cleared. Khan is grieving the loss of his son and now has to bury his father. Despite Chanaar’s grief, he blindly trusts Zamda, unaware of her ulterior motives. Zamda offers Chanaar intoxicated tea and convinces him to accompany her to her father and brother’s graves. However, Chanaar is shocked to find a freshly dug grave at the cemetery, realizing too late that he has been a victim of revenge all along.

People tend to think of women as weak and unintelligent. Chanar also fell prey to the trope by undermining her at first and then trusting her blindly while an educated, self-empowered woman like Zamda is an example that women are much more capable of what they seem to be.

Faysal Quraishi delivers a captivating performance as Chanaar Khan, effectively portraying his emotions, especially in the pivotal moment when he realizes Zamda’s true intentions. Zamda proceeds to fulfill her revenge by killing Chanaar and sparing his innocent son from her wrath, showing a glimpse of her humanity amidst her thirst for vengeance. The story concludes with a flash-forward showing Chanaar’s son Aizaz as a teenager, with Zamda revealing her reasons for sparing him and starting a new life in Karachi.

Overall, the ending of ‘Khaie’ is satisfying, with Zamda achieving her revenge but also facing the consequences of her actions. However, the possibility of a second season remains uncertain, as one survivor from Duraab Khan’s clan still remains.
