Former captain of the Pakistan Cricket Team Wasim Akram, on the 10th anniversary of his late wife Huma Mufti Akram, penned an emotional note in her memory.
Sharing a collage of their two sons, Tahmoor (23) and Akbar (19), Akram wrote on Instagram, “You will never be forgotten, you gave me the biggest gifts of all and they continue to grow and carry on your spirit.”
“Gone but never forgotten, you are always in our hearts,” wrote the 53-year-old former cricketer.
We’re not crying, you are.
Huma Mufti was Wasim’s first wife. The two tied the knot in 1995 and were married for fifteen years before Huma’s untimely death in October 2009. She died of multiple organ failure at Apollo Hospital in Chennai, India. They had two sons together.
In August 2013, Akram got married to Shaniera Thompson, whom he had met on a visit to Melbourne in 2011 while participating in a Poker tournament at Crown Casino. Wasim and Shaniera, who are one of the country’s leading power couples, have a daughter, Aiyla together.
The state-owned postal service, Pakistan Post, has awarded the contract for running its Centralised Software System at a high cost of Rs130 million per annum — almost double than the actual cost — to a single bidder, The Express Tribune reported.
According to reports, the postal service has rejected offers of several other IT firms, including that of an old service provider that ran a similar project at a cost of Rs70 million per annum for seven years till 2018.
The move, reports said, will result in a loss of around Rs100-120 million to the national exchequer over the next two years.
IT experts, familiar with the services provided by Pakistan Post, have said that the competitive bid should not exceed Rs80 million in any case and it was higher by Rs50 million per year.
According to reports, the rest of the technical bids were deliberately rejected to avoid price comparison and allow the remaining one technically qualified bidder to demand the amount as it liked.
Furthermore, established IT players with more experience of running similar projects have complained that the contract was awarded to a new and unknown entrant called AIMS without any proper comparison of experience.
The rest of the IT firms were of the view that if the tender was floated again and was fairly evaluated, a maximum cost of close to Rs80 million would have to be borne, and it would have saved the national exchequer around Rs100 million over the two-year validity period of the contract.
The recent video of a TikToker Hareem Shah at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) has stirred a major controversy. While we all wonder how she managed to enter the office, many people do not know who this famous TikToker is.
For those who are completely in the dark, TikTok is a social media video app for creating and sharing short lip-sync, comedy, and music videos.
Hareem is one of the app’s most famous users withmore than a million followers. She mostly makes videos with her friend Sandal Khattak. Other than that, details of Hareem’s private life are tightly under wraps and she refuses to share any details about it.
What’s interesting is that the Tiktoker has made videos with a plethora of famous personalities including Fayyaz ul Hassan Chohan, Moammar Rana, Iftikhar Thakur, Fiza Ali and Abdul Razaaq.
Speaking about the MoFA on a morning show, Hareem said that she entered the office like a normal visitor after a complete security check and doesn’t understand why people are overreacting to her video.
According to latest reports, the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) has taken notice of the video and an investigation is underway.
Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan has said that Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa met business tycoons “with his permission”.
Speaking to senior journalists and analysts in Islamabad on Wednesday, the premier acknowledged that inflation and unemployment remain a big problem that his government is trying to resolve.
“Where there is no rule of law people gravitate towards power. The army chief asked for my permission to meet the businessmen and I saw no harm in it,” journalist Amber Rahim Shamsi quoted him as saying.
On the army chief meeting with businessmen: “Where there is no rule of law people gravitate towards power. The army chief asked for my permission to meet the businessmen and I saw no harm in it.”
Earlier this month, a delegation of at least 20 businessmen, comprising heads of Pakistan’s leading business houses, had met the army chief to convey their serious concerns about the country’s stagnating economy.
Complaining to him of the government’s tepid response to the debilitating situation facing the drivers of the economy, they had said the government did not go beyond verbal assurances and that its words did not match its actions.
As Wednesday’s meeting continued, PM Imran also categorically said that he will not resign under pressure. He made the statement in response to Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s forthcoming ‘Azadi March’.
Fazl, the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief, has threatened to block Islamabad with his anti-government protest starting October 31. The march, which is expected to have hundreds of thousands of participants — mainly religious hardliners from the JUI-F — are expected to enter Islamabad on October 31.
Ever since the teasers of Ahad Raza Mir, Sajal Aly and Adnan Siddiqui’s upcoming drama Ye Dil Mera debuted, they’ve created a stir and dominated headlines. The initial teasers had received immense criticism for romanticising workplace harassment so much so, that the writer Farhat Ishtiaq had to defend the drama on social media (Read full story on that here).
Nonetheless, Sahad fans are excited to see the return of their favourite couple and Ye Dil Mera is set to air on Wednesdays starting October 30.
Following the announcement, Hum TV shared five more teasers of the drama, two of which are terrifyingly dark. It appears that Adnan Siddiqui will be playing Sajal’s father in the drama.
Hum TV also revealed that the drama will be a “tale of love and revenge.”

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa has been quoted as telling Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman that “there is no possibility of a minus-Imran concept”.
In an “important” meeting held between the army chief and Fazl ahead of the latter’s Azadi March, a journalist affiliated with a private media outlet quoted the COAS as saying that he stood by the constitution and democracy.
“We have been doing what the constitution asks for,” the army chief reportedly said.
Gen Bajwa reminded Fazl that he was a responsible political leader and must be aware that the regional situation is critical. “The situation on the border with India is volatile due to the Kashmir crisis and Afghanistan’s situation is also a source of trouble.”
The army chief reportedly also referred to Iran-Saudi Arabia affairs and told the JUI-F chief that it was not an appropriate time for staging the protest since the economy had been brought on the right track after herculean efforts within the country and abroad.
The COAS made it clear that they wouldn’t permit destabilisation at this moment, the anchor claimed. “He [Imran Khan] is a constitutional prime minister (PM) and neither I nor you can minus him,” he quoted Gen Bajwa as saying.

In a rare social media interaction, Meesha Shafi slammed those criticising director Jami and the #MeToo movement in Pakistan.
Taking to Twitter, Meesha said that she feels sorry for those who will believe everything except the victim and extended her support for Jami, who in an explosive social media post Sunday night revealed that he had been raped by a powerful media magnate.
That’s all the pain you’re willing to take. That’s all the effort you’re ready to make. You’re gluttons feeding on too many lies and then vomiting bile that smells of fake.
And when you sit long enough on a pile of shit, Guess what? You start smelling like it.
When we’re all trapped in our vile quagmire of filth, Who do these truth tellers think they are? Let’s mob them, rob them and eat them for dinner, Lose whatever morals we have, let’s become even thinner. @jamiazaad I see you. I hear you. I stand with you. Always.
Meesha also addressed her own harassment case and explained why her petition was rejected by the Lahore High Court.
Ok I’m going to tell one person, with patience and compassion.
The law has loopholes which imply anyone who is harassed by anyone other than their employer can’t be helped. So I’m told, there r no avenues available 4 a self employed woman to seek accountability/justice. https://t.co/WCs7xh4ZBH
Since I have first hand experience in this area, let me correct you there:
When you speak an uncomfortable truth and expose powerful people for their predatory behavior, this is the currency you get replies in. Wonderful. Amazing times ahead for the children of tomorrow. https://t.co/vudf9FxToe
