The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government has decided to dig trenches around the federal capital to block the forthcoming Azadi March of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F), GNN reported.

According to the details, six feet wide and five feet deep ditches will be dug on 270 streets and small entrances around Islamabad to keep opposition protesters from entering the city.

The JUI-F, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) on Monday finalised their public mobilisation plan to join the long march to Islamabad via Rawalpindi.

The government is making efforts to compel the opposition parties to negotiate a political solution, and for the purpose, they had formed a four-member committee under Defence Minister Pervez Khan Khattak.

However, the opposition has refused to hold any talks with the government until Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan resigns.

Video: Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan says Nawaz Sharif not unwell, only ‘acting’

Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan has come under fire for her remarks regarding former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s health. Talking to a news channel, she said that Mian Nawaz Sharif is getting ready for a film shoot and all this was part of the plan.

Mian Nawaz Sharif was taken to the hospital Monday night. His platelets count had fallen drastically but his dengue results have come out negative. His condition is now stable, as per senior PML-N leader Ahsan Iqbal.

Dr Fridous Ashiq Awan’s comments about Mr Sharif’s health were criticised widely and termed insensitive and callous by PML-N leaders and others on social media.

This is not the first time Dr Awan has made flippant remarks. Last month when Azad Kashmir was jolted by earthquake, she said that the earth has taken a turn as it cannot deal with ‘tabdeeli’.

The high court conducted the hearing of an appeal today regarding the lack of vaccines to treat patients of dog bites and the action against stray dogs.

The bench ordered the Sindh government
to ensure the supply of anti-rabies vaccines across the province. The court
also directed Municipal Commissioner Karachi for the arrangement of more
    anti-rabies vaccines for the city.

The bench directed all district municipal committees (DMCs) in Karachi to speed up the drive against stray dogs. The Sindh High Court bench gave one week to submit a report on the problem.

The bench ordered city authorities to
submit a comprehensive report over the matter in the next hearing of the case.

INFOGRAPH: Will Pakistan ever be polio free?

There are three countries in the world that still have an epidemic of the polio virus and the third, Nigeria, is almost polio free. Pakistan, on the other hand, is experiencing a rise in polio cases.

Pakistan has the highest number of polio cases in 2019

Pakistan had lowered its polio cases to 12 last year and has increased almost 5 times to 69 cases. Afghanistan is at 12 cases reported this year which is a decrease from 21 cases last year.

Nigeria has been polio free for the past three years but since they were 4 cases reported in 2016, they have not been declared polio free yet but will most likely get that coveted title by next year.

  • Meghan tries to overshadow Kate’s Pakistan tour

Meghan tries to overshadow Kate’s Pakistan tour

In what is being termed as a “royal crisis,” the documentary on Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s Africa Tour and in particular its timing has the royals fuming and people are questioning whether Meghan tried to upstage sister-in-law Kate Middleton’s Pakistan tour which was dominating headlines.

According to the Evening Standard, the decision to release the teasers while Kate and William were on their tour in Pakistan has “baffled and infuriated” aides.

One senior figure told the newspaper: “This move has certainly overshadowed the Pakistan visit and what has been achieved here during the last few days, as well as a lot of work by an awful lot of dedicated people here on the ground as well as back home for months.”

The Evening Standard also stated that there is a decades-long unwritten rule that members of the royal family do not overshadow official overseas visits by more senior royals.

It is important to note that the documentary’s presenter Tom Brady is a close friend of the couple’s and even attended their wedding back in 2018.

When Prince William and Kate got married 8 years ago, it was reported that Prince Harry is very close to the couple, particularly his sister-in-law who soon became his closest confidante. William and Kate also kept Harry engaged with them in their royal duties and the three shared a Royal Household. Harry even said that he loves Kate to bits.

However, when Harry married Meghan, it was reported that tensions began to arise between the ‘Fab Four’ and a few months after Harry and Meghan got married, they separated their offices, official social media accounts and even moved out of Kensington Palace into Frogmore Cottage.

While previously the Palace kept denying the reports of rifts between the couples, Harry in the ITV Documentary acknowledged tensions with his older brother Prince William for the first time, saying they are on “different paths.”

When the host asked him about rifts with his brother, Harry answered, “Part of this role, part of this job, this family, being under the pressure which it’s under, inevitably stuff happens. But we are brothers. We will always be brothers.”

“We are certainly on different paths at the moment, but I will always be there for him, and as I know he will always be there for me. We don’t see each other as much as we used to as we are so busy. But I love him dearly and you know the majority of the stuff is probably — well, the majority of the stuff is created out of nothing. But as brothers, you have good days and you have bad days.”

On the other hand, British media outlets are reporting that William is worried about Harry and is hoping that he and his wife “are all right.” Sources say that William found it difficult to watch such ‘raw emotion.’

Quoting a palace source, BBC said that there was a view that the couple was “in a fragile place.”

Meanwhile, in the same documentary, Meghan opened up about her personal life and how it felt like to be a new mother in the spotlight.

“Any woman, especially when they’re pregnant, you’re really vulnerable, and so that was made really challenging,” Meghan said in the video. “And then when you have a newborn, you know. And especially as a woman, it’s a lot. So, you add this on top of just trying to be a new mom or trying to be a newlywed.”

Choking back tears, Meghan thanked the presenter for asking her about the mental and physical health, saying, “Not many people have asked if I’m OK, but it’s a very real thing to be going through behind the scenes.”

Speaking further, Meghan said that she’s often told “H” [Harry] that, “It’s not enough just to survive something – that’s not the point of life. You’ve got to thrive and feel happy.”

Royal analysts say that Meghan is implying that she and Harry are not happy in their current role within the Royal Family.

“I’ve tried this British stiff upper lip thing but “what that does internally is probably really damaging,” she remarked.

The ITV News documentary follows Harry, Meghan and their five-month-old son Archie on their first royal tour together, documenting their 10-day journey. From September 23 to October 2, the family travelled across the continent which Harry previously described as his “second home.”

  • Saudi Arabia denies asking PM Imran to mediate with Iran

Saudi Arabia denies asking PM Imran to mediate with Iran

Saudi Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Adel al-Jubeir has denied reports of separate mediation efforts with Iran, one particularly led by Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan to reduce tension between the two states, Middle East Eye reported.

“We are not having any mediation. People come to us with ideas and we give them our response and our response is what we would like the Iranians to do and that is it, and we would like to see actions rather than words,” reports quoted Adel as saying.

He added that there was compelling evidence that the September attacks on Saudi oil installations were with Iranian-made missiles and “Tehran must stop its rampage across the world”.

“It [Iran] should behave like a normal country following international laws if it wants to be welcomed,” Adel said.

Earlier in September, two Saudi Aramco installations were attacked and the Kingdom blamed Iran for it.

The Saudi foreign minister’s statement comes amid efforts being made by PM Imran to bring both Riyadh and Tehran to the talks table, reportedly on United States (US) President Donald Trump’s suggestion.

Imran, within the past few weeks, has also visited Saudi Arabia and Iran to push the two nations to bring an end to their long withstanding conflict.

  • ANF embarrasses Afridi, denies his claim of video evidence in Rana Sanaullah case

ANF embarrasses Afridi, denies his claim of video evidence in Rana Sanaullah case

Minister of State for Narcotics Control Shehryar Afridi’s claims regarding the recovery of heroin from Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Punjab President Rana Sanaullah’s possession seem to have put him in a tight spot as the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) has reportedly denied making any videos or taking photographs at the time of the raid.

According to reports, the ANF’s denial has made all other claims made by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) during press conferences and in television interviews dubious while he continues to insist that Sanaullah was monitored for three weeks and all the video evidence is available.

“The video of heroin recovery from Rana Sanaullah was also shown to the prime minister,” Afridi had claimed in a recent interview on Geo News, adding that the evidence will be produced before the court once the trial begins.

He has also claimed that four judges have refused to hear the case against Sanaullah as “he is El Chapo of Pakistan and threatens people”.

Interestingly, the anti-narcotics judge hearing the case was repatriated to the Lahore High Court (LHC) in the midst of the proceedings against Sanaullah and the duty judge has refused to conduct the indictment proceedings against the PML-N leader till the appointment of a regular judge.
