Listen to your body, trust your instincts: ZaraNoor Abbas has advice for new moms

Zara Noor Abbas just had a baby girl named Noor-e-Jahan with her husband Asad Siddiqui. Usually, people talk a lot about the happiness of having a new baby, but Zara wanted to talk about something else too. She went on Instagram to discuss the postpartum period.

Zara posted pictures with her daughter and photos of cute things like white booties, a pink cake, and toys. There was even a poster saying ‘Welcome home, baby Noor-e-Jahan and Mommy.’ Zara also said thank you to everyone who has been supporting her, like her fans, friends, and family. She talked about how becoming a mom changed her life, making her feel like she had everything she needed.

“First and foremost- Thank you to all my friends and family and my amazing fans for all the pyaar and duayein (love and prayers). I read all your comments and messages,” Abbas penned in the caption. “It’s just Insane. The journey from nothingness to everything. This rush of joy and power. The feeling that I can conquer anything now. The nourishment of empowerment and love.”

She continued, “The tears, the all-nighters, the difficulties in understanding what the baby wants. Which cry will signal me of a particular task/action. How to position the head – how to lengthen the body, how to massage the fragile bones that you can hear sounds of.”

Zara openly talked about the challenges of understanding her newborn’s needs, learning how to take care of a baby, and the confusing feelings that come with the time after giving birth. She stressed how important it is for new moms to accept help, take care of themselves, and be proud of what they’ve achieved without feeling like they have to be perfect.
She added, “The questions that will only be answered by spending alone time with the baby. The pressure to know it all in these 40 days. It’s superior! It’s a lot! And I feel like we don’t talk much about the journey after the birth. Postpartum. It’s real. It’s as real as pregnancy.”

Zara highlighted the strength that comes with being a mom, encouraging other new moms to recognize their own strength and ask for help when they need it. She wanted to make it normal to talk about the challenges after giving birth, hoping to reassure other moms that they’re not alone in their journey.

The Jhoom actor had a message for new moms: take control of your post-baby journey. “To all the new moms, don’t feel like you have to be a superhero. You already became one by giving birth with God’s help. Now, take a break. Let others help you. Rest. Eat. Sleep. Nap. You can tell people to leave you alone. Don’t follow advice you don’t like. Swaddle the baby how you want. Feed the baby however you want. Do what feels right for you,” she commented.

Abbas ended with an important reminder: “Listen to your body and your motherly instincts.” She emphasized the need to be patient, saying, ‘It will take time to recover, but you’ll be okay, I promise. You know why? Because you’re a mom. And moms, wow, we know how strong they are, don’t we?’”

‘Not feeling my best’: Hania Amir reveals struggle with mental health

Even though her friend and actor Yashma Gill praised her for being a strong support during her hospital recovery, actor Hania Aamir showed once more that behind her smiling photos online, there’s often a hidden struggle.

On her Instagram, the young ‘Dil Ruba’ actor shared a heartfelt post, revealing her personal mental health challenges. She admitted to not feeling well for some time now. Using her social media reach, she aimed to break the silence around mental health in Pakistani society. Hania reassured her fans that there was “no shame” in seeking professional help.

The star wished to be honest with her friends and fans, writing, “Yes, this could’ve been dealt with privately but I genuinely feel like we have grown up together on this platform. From my dubsmash to films to dramas (reel and real) to random videos and updates on my life, I’ve tried to be as real as I could be with all of you.”

Hania stated, “I owed it to myself to look within and do everything in my power to recharge my batteries toward a full recovery.” She emphasized the importance of not battling mental health challenges alone, saying, “No one is equipped to undertake such a journey solo.”

“I’m doing everything I can to get back to health, but I just wanted to come here and tell you that it is alright to have dark days,” wrote Hania. “It does get better. I know sometimes it feels like there’s only darkness at the end of the tunnel. I get it. You just need to tell yourself that you deserve happiness and you need to take charge, ask for help from the people around you, and seek a professional.”

Without specifying the cause of her mental health challenges, Hania recognized that many others, like her, have faced similar struggles. Rejecting the typical cultural expectation of hiding emotions during tough times, Hania encouraged her followers to be honest about their feelings and not exhaust themselves by pretending everything was fine. “I don’t want to put up a facade of being okay,” she wrote. “And neither should you. It’s too exhausting.”

Hania continued by emphasizing that both mental and physical health are equally important. “Remember, mental health matters just as much as physical health, and talking about it shows strength, not weakness,” she wrote. “Please ask for help when you need it. You’re not in this alone.”
Wrapping up her post with a call to raise more awareness about mental health, Hania concluded, “And if there’s any advice for me or anyone going through depression, please share in the comments. Even the smallest beam of hope and warmth can help.”
With over 400,000 likes in three days, Hania’s post resonated with her large following, prompting an outpouring of advice and support in the comments section. Hania’s friend and fellow actress Yashma commented, “You are my life, okay? I love you to the moon and back and always there for you,” while another user wrote, “So relatable.”

Malala Yousafzai makes special appearance in sitcom

The British comedy ‘We Are Lady Parts’ which follows the lives of the all-women Muslim punk band Lady Parts, is coming back for a second season on Peacock. Deadline reported that starting May 30, all six new episodes will be on the streaming platform. This season, guest stars will include Nobel Peace Prize winner Malala Yousufzai and British comedian Meera Syal.

NBC says the first episode of We Are Lady Parts was shown in 2018, followed by a full season of six episodes in 2021. Each member of the band has their own unique personality, and the show talks about things like friendship, family duties, and what people expect from women in society.

“Making season one of We Are Lady Parts was immense for me,” admitted Manzoor, who has written, created, and directed the show. “It was a trial by fire, but I found my voice, my style and my confidence in creating this show.” She went on to add, “Most importantly, I found my tribe – from actors and crew to producers and studio execs.”

With the groundwork set, Manzoor felt that working on the second season of her creation was much simpler. “Starting season two, I felt energized,” she said. “The characters, the setting, the mood – everything was already in place and good to go. Now, I wanted to make things even more exciting. I aimed to make it more daring, funnier, darker, and more profound, and that’s exactly what we tried to do.”

Manzoor said the new season will dig deeper into the lives of all the women in the show. “Each of them will face new challenges, but still keeping the humor and fun from season one,” she explained. She also mentioned they were creating more original music for the show. “The music will be bigger too – more original songs and even better covers.”

With the setting in the music industry, Manzoor highlighted that the show would explore what success really means. She is excited about sharing her project with the world. “For a punk band, is fame and big record deals the goal?” she questioned. “I wanted to look at the tension between art and business and see how much compromise is too much. I’m really proud of what we’ve done and can’t wait to share it with everyone.”

All six episodes of the first season of We Are Lady Parts are available on Peacock. The show is produced by Working Title Television (WTTV), a part of Universal International Studios.

  • Nora Fatehi prays five times daily, fasts in Ramzan

Nora Fatehi prays five times daily, fasts in Ramzan

In a recent video posted on Instagram, Bollywood actor and dancer Nora Fatehi talked about being a Muslim, revealing that she’s been fasting since she was 14, something her parents taught her when she was young.
She elaborated on feeling more intuitive during and after the month of Ramzan, emphasizing that she’s committed to fasting every day, even while working. She said fervently, “I fast every day, even though I’m working. I never break my fast. I always keep it going. [Ramzan] is a great time for me to become disciplined and more spiritual. It’s my duty.”

The actor emphasized that fasting is essential to her faith and is something she must manage alongside her work. “I have to do it,” she stressed. “I need to stay connected to my religion, but I also have to work. Why should I have to pick one over the other?”

Fatehi further explained that she manages both her spiritual and everyday life, balancing her religious duties with her career. “As a performer, I need to stay active, but I still fast. Fasting is important, and you can do it while fulfilling your other responsibilities. When you connect with your creator, whoever that may be for you, you enter a different spiritual and mental realm.”

Reflecting on the significance of praying, Fatehi added, “What’s so beautiful about praying five times a day is that, in the chaos of the world, there’s two minutes when you stop and you thank your creator.”
Since starting her Bollywood career in 2014, Fatehi has become known for her dance performances in Indian cinema. While some of her followers resonated with her recent religious insights, others on social media have been more skeptical, questioning the apparent contrast between Fatehi’s entertainment career and her religious practices.
