The Adviser to the Prime Minister on Political & Public Affairs, Rana Sanaullah, commented on the recent Supreme Court verdict on the reserved seats case, saying, “The judiciary cannot alter the constitution, but parliament can.”
In a significant legal victory for the Imran Khan-founded Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), the Supreme Court on Friday ruled that the “party is eligible for the allocation of reserved seats”.
Sanaullah criticised the top court’s verdict, saying that it “violated Article 51” and relevant clauses that clearly bound independent candidates to join political parties within three days after elections.
He also disapproved of the ruling granting an additional two weeks to process the independent candidates’ affiliations to their desired political parties.
The senior Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader also stated that the verdict would be “opening the front gate for horse-trading.”

UK police on Saturday arrested a man after two suitcases believed to contain the remains of two men were dumped on a famous bridge.
The suitcases were discovered Wednesday after police got a report of a man behaving suspiciously on the Clifton Suspension Bridge in Bristol, southwest England.
“Detectives have arrested a man in connection with an investigation into the discovery of human remains on Clifton Suspension Bridge,” said Metropolitan Police.
The 24-year-old suspect was detained at a major train station in Bristol and will be taken to London for questioning later on Saturday.
“Police are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident,” they said.
The London-based force took over the investigation after evidence suggested that the wanted man had travelled to Bristol from the UK capital earlier on Wednesday.
While searching a flat in west London, officers found more human remains.
Police believe that they are connected to the human remains found in Bristol and that there are two male victims, both known to the arrested man.

A recent post of a Zionist Twitter user went viral where he compared Palestine flag pins that Delta Airlines wore with Hamas.

However, Delta removed the tweet recently. “On Wednesday, we removed a reply that was not in line with our values. We strive for an environment of inclusivity and respect for all, in our communities and our planes. The employee responsible no longer supports Delta’s social channels We apologize for this hurtful post.”
The flight attendant in the picture also posted a picture of him making a victory sign with the caption, “Thank you to everyone for all of the kinds messages. It has been an overwhelming few days but I’m grateful for all of the love and support. See you in the skies!”.
An Islamabad district and sessions court accepted appeals filed by former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi, against their conviction in the Iddat case, clearing them of the last known legal cases against them.
Khan and his spouse were sentenced to seven years in prison and awarded a fine of Rs500,000 each, in February earlier this year after a trial court found their nikah to be fraudulent.
The couple challenged their conviction and moved the IHC, seeking varying relief from the court.
The recent verdict, a significant milestone for the founder of PTI, holds immense importance. Imran Khan has been incarcerated since August last year in the Toshakhana case, and this decision could potentially change his circumstances.
While Khan got relief in significant cases like Toshakhana and cipher cases earlier this month, he remained behind bars in the Iddat case.

A day before the Supreme Court granted major relief to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in the reserved seats case, an Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) affirmed the allegations of Imran Khan’s involvement in the May 9 conspiracy against the state in its verdict.
Senior journalist Ansar Abbasi has stated that while Friday’s SC verdict was a major political victory for PTI and Khan, the verdict by ATC Lahore is a major setback for them.
Lahore’s anti-terrorism court has become the first judicial forum to uphold that Imran Khan and senior PTI leaders hatched an anti-state conspiracy on May 9.
Justice Khalid Arshad of the ATC Lahore upheld the prosecution’s view that Khan, in collusion with PTI’s top leadership, was involved in a conspiracy and war against the state on May 9 of last year.
The court also rejected Khan’s bail application while pointing out that the court was not convinced by founder PTI’s allegation that he was being targeted with politically motivated case.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan has said that the Supreme Court’s (SC) decision on reserved seats put a dead stop to predictions of a ban on PTI, ARY News reported.
Khan told journalists that his party has no intention of forming a coalition government with the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP).
“This option was also available to us on February 09,” Barrister Gohar remarked.
“We will act as a strong opposition party,” the PTI chairman said.
Gohar Khan also clarified that the party’s top leadership didn’t decide anything about the no-confidence motion.
“The option of talks still is open,” Gohar stated.
Previously, the top court on Friday announced its verdict about reserved seats and allowed PTI to obtain their reserved seats in National and provincial assemblies.
