  • Bilawal Bhutto avoids handshake with Indian foreign minister

Foreign Minister (FM) Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari met and held meetings with his counterparts from Afghanistan, China, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Kyrgyzstan at the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation’s (SCO) Council of Foreign Ministers’ meeting. However, it has been reported that Bilawal and Indian FM Dr S. Jaishankar avoided handshake and the two ministers sat away from each other.

Bilawal attended the SCO meeting (July 28th to 29th) in Tashkent and this is where both he and Jaishankar came together since the Pakistani foreign minister took charge.

It is pertinent to mention that the SCO meeting is being held in connection with the preparations for the SCO Heads of State meeting scheduled to be held in September.

On the international platform, Bilawal said that there are no plans of any meetings between Indian and Pakistani Prime Ministers (PM) in September, adding that “both India and Pakistan are part of the SCO and the two countries are only engaged in the context of the broad-based activities of the organisation”.

The foreign minister said: “India is our neighbouring country. While one can decide on a lot of things, one cannot choose its neighbours, therefore, we should get used to living with them.”

Bilawal recalled that after 2019, constructive dialogue with India became difficult, while statements based on Islamophobia by Indian officials are further creating hurdles in dialogue.

‘What is our fault if Khan failed to boost ties with US?’

Reacting to Imran Khan’s criticism that said Pakistan and the United States (US) relation has weakened during the tenure of the coalition government, the foreign minister said, “There is no truth in Imran Khan’s claims.”

“Khan tried to strengthen relations with Washington when he was in power,” he said and asked, “What was their fault if he failed to boost ties with the US?”

Ratna Pathak Shah lands in hot water for terming ‘Karwa Chauth’ as regressive

Actress Ratna Pathak Shah of Kapoor & Sons fame has landed in hot water after her recent comments on a Hindu festival. This trolling is owing to the actress’ recent statements about India moving towards becoming an ‘extremely conservative society’ and slamming the concept of ‘Karwa Chauth’.

During a recent chat with an entertainment portal, the Golmaal 3 star spoke about how women in the 21st century, are still observing age-old traditions like Karwa Chauth – a Hindu ritual in which the wife prays for her husband’s long life by fasting.

While she revealed it was for the first time last year she was asked if would fast for her husband, Ratna also said that India is becoming ‘a conservative society’ and the first thing it does ‘is clamp down on its women’ – just like they have done in a country like Saudi Arabia.

Netizens aren’t happy with Ratna Pathak Shah’s comments and have taken to social media to slam her for both dissing women keeping the Karwa Chauth fast and calling Saudi Arabia a conservative society while making comparisons.

Ratna said that she was asked for the first time last year if she would fast for her husband, actor Naseeruddin Shah.

“Nothing has changed for women or very little has changed in very crucial areas. Our society is becoming extremely conservative. We’re becoming superstitious, we’re being forced into accepting and making religion a very important part of one’s life. Someone asked me for the first time last year if I’m observing Karwa Chauth. I said, ‘Am I mad?’ Isn’t it appalling that modern educated women fast to pray for the long lives of husbands?”

She continued, “We are moving towards an extremely conservative society. The first thing a conservative society does is clamp down on its women. Look at all the conservative societies in this world. Women are the ones who are most affected. What’s the scope of women in Saudi Arabia? Do we want to become like Saudi Arabia? And we will become because it’s very very convenient. Women provide a lot of unpaid labour within the home. If you have to pay for that labour, who will do it? Women are forced into that situation.”

‘My favourite Pasoori topped the charts for 85 days, now its Kesariya’: Alia Bhatt gets candid

Alia Bhatt’s latest love ballad Kesariya has taken over the music charts in India. The song was recently in hot waters when called out for copying Pakistani band Call’s Laree Chootee, but while that’s contested, Bhatt came to defend her song by claiming that Kesariya has dethroned the global favourite Coke Studio song Pasoori.

Amidst a promotional interview for her Netflix’s debut film, Darlings, Bhatt was directed with a question that asked how she feels after the massive critique Kesariya, which she calls her and husband Ranbir Kapoor’s love song, has gotten for including the phrase “love storiyan”.

Defending the lyrics, Bhatt shared she believes its “great” however the song got attention from people. “I don’t think people are having issues with the song. I think it’s great. I think it’s lovely that there is so much given to even two words in a song. I think there was so much anticipation with the song that the ones who weren’t liking those two words just wanted the song to be so perfect.”

She further added, “Like we dethroned, which I want to say very proudly, Pasoori which is one of my favourite songs but it’s been number one for 85 days and Kesariya went straight to number one. I proudly want to scream on the rooftop and say this because any kind of attention to a creative unit, good bad, is attention at the end of the day and it adds on people knowing more about the film that’s about to release and it just shows that they care that much.”

Bhatt recently added her name to the list of Indian actors who opted for Pakistani designer Faraz Manan’s couture collection for a public event.

The Highway star recently shared pictures of her on Instagram in which the actor could be seen wearing Faraz’s dress.

The designer also shared pictures of the Udta Punjab diva on the official Instagram handle.

Deepika also opted for a dress designed by Faraz Manan.

Earlier, this year in October, Shah Rukh Khan donned Faraz Manan’s white royal jacket on a shalwar kameez. The jacket was customised for the Don 2 star with detailed embroidery work.

Faraz has alo collaborated with India’s top actors like Sridevi, Jacqueline Fernandez and Karishma Kapoor.

On the work front, Alia is gearing up for the release of Darlings and Brahmastra.

  • Apple facing issues in production of iPhone 14

Apple facing issues in production of iPhone 14

The release of the iPhone 14 has been eagerly anticipated by Apple fans worldwide, but according to Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the flagship has a coating crack quality problem.

The coating crack, according to the analyst, was intended to be used in the phone’s rear cameras, but since it is defective, the tech company has been having production problems.

This coating crack issue is posing a risk to the tech giant, since it may delay the shipment of the iPhone 14 lineup, which is scheduled to hit stores this fall. Given how important the problem is, Apple has contracted with a new coating supplier; this time, a Taiwanese company called “Largan” will help the tech giant with the iPhone 14’s camera lenses.

Ming-Chi Kuo recently tweeted that “Apple had transferred about 10 million lens orders from Genius to Largan to avoid affecting iPhone 14 shipments.” This indicates that the tech giant has stopped purchasing lens coating from “Genius” and will do so permanently if that company can’t resolve its coating crack quality problem.

While highlighting a different issue with the production of the iPhone 14, Kuo wrote that a variety of panel and memory suppliers are experiencing component shortages.

Despite this, Kuo claimed that the issue will be easily resolved because Apple has brought in a large number of suppliers to fill the component gap.

“I have learned that recently some iPhone 14 panel and memory suppliers have experienced supply issues”, however indicating little to no impact he added that “other suppliers can fill the supply gap.”

Apple is doing everything it can to keep up with demand, manufacture, and deliver the iPhone 14 by the projected date despite a number of production issues. Once available, the iPhone 14 is anticipated to outsell the iPhone 13 and surpass its all-time high revenue of $448 billion.
