Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari met Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) chief Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain last night (Thursday).
The two leaders held a meeting for hours but it is not known what they discussed. However, it is being speculated that Zardari met Shujaat to convince him to be on Hamza Shehbaz’s side for the election of Chief Minister (CM) Punjab today (Friday). Shujaat had already announced his support for Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi who is Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidate for the CM seat.
The Punjab Assembly (PA) session for the CM election is scheduled to take place at 4pm today.
Zardari and Shujaat’s meeting spread like fire on social media and this is what Twitter had to say about the duo.

10 PML-Q votes will not be counted: Dost Mazari
Deputy Speaker Punjab Assembly Dost Mazari says 10 PML-Q votes will not be counted because of Chaudhry Shujaat’s letter.
According to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Murad Raas, Hamza received 179 votes whereas Elahi got 186 votes. After Mazari rejected 10 PML-Q votes, Elahi was left with 176 votes, which turned the tables in Hamza’s favour.
While announcing the result, Mazari read Shujaat’s letter out loud. “As party head of Pakistan Muslim League, I have issued directions to all my provincial members to cast their votes in favour of Muhammad Hamza Shehbaz Sharif,” Mazari quoted Hussain as saying.
His ruling was countered by PTI MPA Raja Basharat, who said that the law states that the parliamentary party could issue instructions to party members.
“The head of the parliamentary party is Pervaiz Elahi,” he contended.
However, Mazari said that the matter had been clarified by the Supreme Court, subsequently proroguing the session.

Credit goes to Zardari for first destroying the PPP and now the PML-N: Fawad Chaudhry
PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry said that the Maryam Nawaz group’s gesture by accepting the results of the Punjab by-polls was good but the Shehbaz Sharif group is most probably working under the influence of Asif Ali Zardari. He alleged that Shehbaz Sharif is consulting Zardari these days for major decisions.
“Credit goes to Zardari for destroying two parties, first the PPP and now the PML-N,” added Fawad Chaudhry.
PPP co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari met PML-Q chief Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain once again last night. Zardari had already held two meetings with Chaudhry Shujaat earlier in an effort to get his support for Hamza Shehbaz.

A 24-year-old Pakistani man was detained near the India-Pakistan international border in Rajasthan.
As per media reports, he was allegedly planning to kill Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesman Nupur Sharma who made derogatory remarks against Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in June.
According to Indian media reports, the man is influenced by Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP).
The accused, identified as Rizwan Ashraf, son of Mohammad Ashraf is a resident of Mandi Bahauddin. He had sneaked into India from Hindumalkot international border. He was arrested on the intervening night of July 16-17.

His connections, according to the SP, are also being questioned.
Rizwan is the same man who in August 2021 vandalised Ranjit Singh’s statue, reports Roohan Ahmed for Urdu News. He was later released on bail.
As per Rizwan’s father, his son left home before Eid-ul-Azha. His father said that he told his mother that he is going somewhere but did not tell his family where he is going.
Indian authorities have not contacted Pakistani authorities in this regard.
According to a TLP leader, Rizwan is only a worker of the party.

On July 19, Judge Mufti extended the interim bail of the PTI Chairman till July 21 in these cases.
The United States (US) removed Pakistan from its human trafficking watchlist.
Although Pakistan was taken off the “watchlist,” Pakistan remains on Tier 2, which serves as a warning that penalties might be imposed if it didn’t make any further progress and will be downgraded to Tier 3, which would lead to sanctions.
Tier 2 nations are those who are making considerable efforts in that direction. Pakistan’s performance in combating trafficking, according to the study, has improved.
“The government demonstrated overall increasing efforts compared with the previous reporting period, considering the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, if any, on its anti-trafficking capacity; therefore Pakistan was upgraded to Tier 2,” the report said.
“The government allocated resources for the implementation of the National Action Plan (NAP) and amended the Prevention of Trafficking in Persons Act (PTPA) to remove provisions that allowed fines in lieu of imprisonment for sex trafficking crimes with women and children as victims,” the report added.
Hollywood star Emilia Clarke has revealed that she did not expect to retain her speech ability after suffering from two brain aneurysms.
Getting candid about her health troubles in a new interview, the Daenerys Targaryen of Game of Thrones was surprised she was still able to speak and communicate normally despite missing parts of her brain, reports aceshowbiz.com.
Having gone through several surgeries to treat her brain aneurysms, Emilia Clarke offered updates on her health during an appearance on BBC One’s ‘Sunday Morning’.
“The amount of my brain that is no longer usable – It’s remarkable that I am able to speak, sometimes articulately,” Emilia Clarke shared her astonishment.
“And live my life completely normally with absolutely no repercussions,” she continued in the interview airing on July 17.
She went on to express gratefulness for being one of the lucky ones, saying: “I am in the really, really, really small minority of people that can survive that.”
Emilia Clarke then brought up the result of her brain scans.
“There’s quite a bit missing! Which always makes me laugh,” she lightheartedly spilled, adding, “Because strokes, basically, as soon as any part of your brain doesn’t get blood for a second, it’s gone. And so the blood finds a different route to get around but then whatever bit it’s missing is therefore gone.”
Back in 2019, the actress said that she couldn’t bear to look at her own reflection in the mirror post-surgeries.
“After my operations I didn’t want to look at my own face. I was so full of drugs from being in the hospital that I had a lot of water retention, and one half of my face was quite swollen,” Emilia Clarke told Stylist magazine.
“I felt so deeply unattractive. What I can see now is that I could see the pain behind my eyes. And no amount of anything can cover that.”
Clarke was reported to have suffered from aphasia following her aneurysms, which is a language disorder affecting a person’s ability to communicate. At one point, the “Last Christmas” actress was even unable to recall her own name. In 2019, she launched a charity by the name of SameYou that aims to raise funds to help those recovering from brain surgeries and strokes.

Bollywood movie Brahmastra’s latest song, Kesariya has landed in hot waters for allegedly copying Pakistani music band Call’s hit song Laree Choote.
The chorus of the song Kesariya from the upcoming Bollywood movie Brahmastra is similar to that of the Pakistani melody.
It is pertinent to mention that Laree Choote was officially featured in Bollywood film Ek Chalis Ki Last Local starring Neha Dhupia and Abhay Deol feature in the music video.
Now actor Feroze Khan has slammed Bollywood for again plagiarising Pakistani music after Abrar-ul-Haq’s Nach Punjaban.
Recently Varun Dhawan’s JugJugg Jeeyo stirred controversy when singer Abrar-ul-Haq’s song Nach Punjaban was featured in its trailer.
The singer had criticized Karan Johar after the trailer, which featured the song, made rounds on social media platforms.
“I have not sold my song Nach Punjaban to any Indian movie and reserve the rights to go to court to claim damages,” he tweeted. “Producers like Karan Johar should not use copy songs. This is my sixth song being copied which will not be allowed at all.”

Sania Khan, a South-Asian woman from Chicago who used to document events reflecting her abusive marriage and talked about her experience of divorce, was murdered by her ex-husband.
Her ex-husband, Raheel Ahmed, killed her and then committed suicide by shooting himself.
The family of the man had reported him missing from the Atlanta suburb.
According to two of Sania’s friends, the divorce was finalised in May. The police found a suicide note near Ahmed’s body.
Who was Sania Khan?
Sania Khan was a wedding photographer by profession. She also used to post her work on TikTok videos. “Ever since I can remember, photography has been a huge part of my identity. My life truly began the day I purchased my first DSLR. I wouldn’t know it at the time but it would forever change me,” she wrote on her website.
However, her most recent uploads from June mainly concentrated on the situation with her divorce. She posted videos that talked about an abusive relationship with her ex-husband.
The text of one of the videos Sania posted read, “Going through a divorce as a South Asian woman feels like you have failed at life sometimes.”
RIP Sania Khan! She decided to end an abusive marriage but her ex-husband killed her.
Sadly she didn’t have support from her family or the society. Desi people care more about their reputation than their child’s happiness.
The Sania Khan story is sitting heavy with me today, especially since my mom went through a divorce and I saw first hand how the community turned their backs on her without ever getting her side of the story. The woman is always to blame when there’s a divorce.
TW: DV A year ago, my Instagram was full of Noor Mukadam’s friends mourning her and this year, it’s Sania Khan’s friends. The senseless murder of young women at the ends of entitled men needs to stop. May these women rest in peace. May women know a better world some day.
The desi community makes me question if the label of a “shareef khandaan” worth more than the life of their own daughters? Sania khan was so vocal about her abusive marriage and how the desi community shamed her for a divorce, even her parents. The ex husband has murd€red her.
The person that was going to capture one of the most special days in my life just lost her life to domestic violence. Heartbroken, devastated, & just so angry.
In the few interactions I had with her, she was just so sweet. Please keep Sania Khan & her family in your duas.
The Desi community needs to stop stigmatizing divorce and giving the benefit of the doubt to POS men. So much anger reading about what happened to Sania Khan

Appearing on the same programme on Tuesday, former federal minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Fawad Chaudhry agreed with Rasheed’s statement and said that they will not talk against the establishment. “We will try to normalise things in the future”, he added.
