  • Syeda Dania files for divorce from Aamir Liaquat, reveals he takes drugs and does domestic violence

Syeda Dania files for divorce from Aamir Liaquat, reveals he takes drugs and does domestic violence

Politician and television personality Aamir Liaquat Hussain’s third wife Syeda Dania has announced that she is seeking divorce from the former MNA.

Taking to Instagram on Saturday, Shah dropped a bombshell video to reveal that her marriage with Liaquat has hit the rock bottom after which she approached the court to carry out the legal procedure.

In her application, she accused Liaquat of forcing her to make adult videos to “send to people abroad” and locking her up for five days if she refused to do it. She also said he “forced her to appear before non-mehram men”. She also accused him of being impotent and consuming drugs.

In an exclusive interview with Dunya News, Shah said, “he (Liaquat) was very cruel. He would lock me in the room for four days straight. He wouldn’t give food to me on time and would keep me up all night long. I’m a child, I’m not even old enough. He would humiliate me. He would bring every single matter to me, be it the maids or even the media, anything he disliked, he would misbehave with me. He used to push me around and even threatened that he would shoot me. He even tried to strangle me.”

Shah told the media outlet that Liaquat abused her and at the time she felt like she was being punished. She likened the experience to having been in “hell” and said that if anyone from her family was harmed, Liaquat would be responsible.

Liaquat took to Instagram and shared a video of Shah that he claimed is two days old in which she denied news of the divorce and asked people to leave them in peace if they couldn’t wish them well. Liaquat said if they hadn’t contracted a nikah, he would’ve revealed the “truth” to the entire nation, which he claimed would shock everyone. He requested journalists and the media to investigate Shah’s appearance in order to judge if he could’ve harmed her in these three months.

As per reports, Shah, who tied the knot with Liaqaut in February 2022, demanded Haq Mehar in her suit which includes a house worth Rs110 million in Karachi, Rs250,000 in cash, one Toyota Corolla GLI 2022 model, 3 tola gold jewellery worth around Rs400,000.

While announcing his marriage Aamir revealed that his new wife is, “Saraiki, lovely, charming, simple and darling. I would like to request all of my well-wishers, please pray for us. I have just passed the dark tunnel, it was a wrong turn,” Liaquat expressed.

Earlier she denied her split with Aamir in a video message.

A screenshot of Dania’s Instagram handle floated on the web, presenting that she has deleted all posts with her husband.

On being asked about a leading lady who has attitude problems, unprofessional and needs to work on her behaviour, the Nand star gave a shocking answer.

Aijaz named Urwa Hocane and stated, “Although I haven’t worked with her but I have heard (from friends and colleagues) that it is Urwa, she gets very angry on the sets, quickly loses her temper and even instructs the director on creative aspects.”

The hosting duo kept nodding while Aslam was talking, however Aagha mentioned later that he recently met the Tich Button diva at an event and felt that she was grounded.

Last year the Udaari star revealed that she regrets leaving Meray Paas Tum Ho after shooting a schedule of it.

Appearing on Vasay Chaudhry’s show Ghabrana Mana Hai, Urwa said: “It is one of my biggest regrets and yes I was offered the role of Miss Hania in Meray Paas Tum Ho.”

The actor further revealed that she had even shot a few scenes for the drama. During the show, Chaudhry also played a clip from the drama serial that featured Urwa and Humayun Saeed.

Urwa further shared: “After wrapping up my initial shoot, I started working on the production of my upcoming film Tich Button when Nadeem Baig called me and said that Mohammad Ahmed Sahab, who was playing the role of my father, has to leave for Canada so I had to spare a week to shoot my scenes with him.”

“At that point, it was impossible for me as I was so caught up in production work. So I had to leave the project because of the date clash and I regret my decision,” said the actor further.

Hira Mani was later roped in to play Miss Hania and the actor received a lot of applause for her performance. Meray Paas Tum Ho was a blockbuster hit breaking all records and the finale was even screened in cinemas with sold-out shows.

Meanwhile, Hocane also talked about her first venture as a producer Tich Button which features Farhan Saeed, Iman Aly, Sonya Hussayn and Feroze Khan.

“The film will be release, once the cinemas are fully operational again,” said Hocane.

  • Pakistani Rupee crashes to a record low against US dollar

After a fourth consecutive session of losses on May 10, Pakistan’s currency hit an all-time low in the interbank market due to a lack of clarity on foreign cash inflow and a stronger US dollar.

The rupee ended the day at Rs188.66, down Rs1.13, or 0.60 per cent, according to the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP). After a 0.48 per cent decline on Monday, the rupee finished at Rs187.53. Prior to Tuesday, the PKR’s lowest closing was Rs188.18 on April 7, 2022.

Oil prices, a key indicator of currency parity, dipped in tumultuous trade on Tuesday as the market weighed the impact of expected European Union penalties on Russian oil against demand concerns stemming from China’s coronavirus lockdowns, a strong dollar, and rising recession threats.

Despite the decline, the price of oil remains far above $100 per barrel, a high level for oil-importing nations like Pakistan, which is already grappling with a growing current account deficit and dwindling foreign exchange reserves.

  • Explainer: What is happening with the United States abortion laws?

Explainer: What is happening with the United States abortion laws?

People in the United States are protesting against the possibility of a ban on abortions. A leaked document suggests that abortion will be banned in the country. People are protesting against it, and many pro-abortion, pro-choice rallies and demonstrations have taken place in the past few weeks.

    So what happened?

A 98 page leaked US Supreme court draft was published by the news site Politico. The leaked document shows that majority of judges have voted to strike down the landmark 1973 Roe v Wade ruling, that has guaranteed the right to abortion in the United States for decades. But, according to the draft, there are plans to overturn the 1973 ruling.

The leaked document is an unofficial judgment of Dobbs v Jackson Women’s Health Organisation. The case that will determine whether pregnant people have a constitutional right to choose abortion in the US.

What is the Dobbs vs Jackson case?

The US Supreme Court is debating Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, a case involving a Mississippi legislation prohibiting abortion beyond 15 weeks. The conservative litigants specifically request that the Supreme Court overturn Roe, and the justices have indicated that they are willing to do so. In 2018, Mississippi passed the Gestational Age Act (“HB 1510”), which prohibits abortions after 15 weeks, except in cases of a medical emergency or severe fetal abnormality.

In the same year, Jackson Women’s Health Organization, a clinic and abortion facility in Mississippi, challenged the constitutionality of the “Gestational Age Act” in federal court.

What is the 1973 judgement Roe v. Wade?

The landmark 1973 ruling protects the constitutional right to have an abortion.

Roe v. Wade was a historic legal decision delivered by the United States Supreme Court on January 22, 1973, in which the court overturned a Texas law prohibiting abortion, essentially legalising the operation throughout the United States.

“The court held that a woman’s right to an abortion was implicit in the right to privacy protected by the 14th Amendment to the Constitution. Prior to Roe v. Wade, abortion had been illegal throughout much of the country since the late 19th century. Since the 1973 ruling, many states have imposed restrictions on abortion rights.”

    What are US politicians saying?

US president Joe Biden called it “really quite a radical decision” that reflects a “fundamental shift in American jurisprudence”.

US vice-president Kamala Harris told a conference on Tuesday: “Women’s rights in America are under attack. Today, we know our purpose. We also know what we are up against. Let us fight with everything we’ve got”.

What would happen if the 1973 judgment is overturned?
Before 1973, abortion regulations varied greatly across the country. Some states outlawed all abortions, while others allowed them under limited conditions. Roe v. Wade provided a legal framework for abortion laws at the federal level by ruling that a Texas abortion statute was unconstitutional. As a result, if Roe is overturned, states will once again be free to restrict abortion.

Thirteen states have “trigger laws” that would prohibit abortion if the Supreme Court overturns the decision.

‘Like a miracle’: How Instagram helped an Islamabad influencer find lost cat after two months

Islamabad based influencer Waliya Najib has been reunited with her cat after two months. Waliya lost her cat on March 9 in Islamabad and after that, she kept posting pictures of her cat on Instagram to ask people for help. She also offered a lakh rupees as reward money.

Waliya got a lead on her cat when an Islamabad based vet posted pictures and videos of her lost cat, “Muffin.” However, there is a twist in the story. The people who brought the cat to the vet did not leave a contact number. “They can’t contact the people that brought him because they didn’t leave a number, and took him back once he was groomed.” The vet helped her Waliya to “track him down.”

  • Abdullah Qureshi releases new single with Haider Mustehsan, ropes in Saheefa Jabbar

Abdullah Qureshi releases new single with Haider Mustehsan, ropes in Saheefa Jabbar

Singer Abdullah Qureshi has released his new single after a year’s break in collaboration with emerging musician Haider Mustehsan, featuring actor Saheefa Jabbar.

The Bhool star dons a refreshing look in the video.

Abdullah has carved his own niche in the music fraternity for 10 years. While churning out new music isn’t an easy task, Qureshi is on a roll with his new single in collaboration with Haider, the new sensation in the fraternity and also a popular choice of the Gen Z.

Hasda Rehnda is a product of Qureshi and Mustehsan’s hard work and talent. Abdullah formerly wrote this love song which has a fun vibe to it and later on when this became a duo, Haider added his own spin to it.

The song has graced the screens with a simple yet beautiful video featuring Saheefa Jabbar Khattak. Saheefa dons a simple look for her character while we see both the musicians in their element as well. Together, the melody as well as lyrics make for a single you would definitely hum along.

Last year Jabbar took to her Instagram stories to announce that she hasn’t quit acting, she has just taken a break because of lack of good scripts and progressive roles for women.

The Beti diva questioned that why do our women in drama remain oppressed despite there being diverse women in society.

“There are no good scripts out there. The scripts which are being offered to me at the moment are not up to the standards of storytelling I feel comfortable endorsing,” she said. “I am writing this today because a few rumours have made their way back to me and it does not feel nice to hear untrue things about yourself.”

Her posts raised important issues regarding portrayal of women in Pakistani dramas.

Jabbbar was last seen opposite Faysal Qureshi and Aijaz Aslam in Log Kya Kahenge.

  • ‘Maybe PTI does not trust the court’: Justice Athar Minallah

Islamabad High Court (IHC) Chief Justice (CJ) Athar Minallah on Monday questioned former Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed if he trusted the IHC.

Justice Minallah said that it seemed as if the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) did not have faith in the courts.

“It is said in rallies that courts are not independent. Political statements are made at rallies questioning why courts opened at night. It is said that the courts open at the behest of someone,” he said.

IHC Chief Justice Athar Minallah heard the petition of the former interior minister against the appointment of Hanif Abbasi as a Special Assistant to Prime Minister (SAPM), with Sheikh Rasheed appearing before the court on Monday.

The IHC CJ summoned Rasheed to the rostrum and said, “These courts are for everyone. Perhaps, people don’t believe this.”

“Important cases of this country are being heard in this court,” he said, further telling Rasheed that the IHC would hear his plea if he had faith in his court. Justice Minallah said important and big cases are pending in the high court, like the cases of missing persons and Baloch students.

“There are other courts and judges who, too, can hear your cases. But if Imran Khan does not have faith [in this court] … I will refer the case to another court,” he stated.

“If you have faith in it, then this court would hear your case. Also, ask the PTI chairperson about this,” Justice Minallah said, adding that the courts had been “issuing judgements for the weak”.

“Your lawyers must have told you that there are rules and the chief justice can take up a case at any time,” CJ IHC told Rasheed.

Rasheed said that he had appeared before the court because he had faith in it. “I will talk to Imran Khan,” added Rasheed.

Justice Minallah said, “One should have the respect for the judiciary in their heart.” He then told Rasheed to “decide by tomorrow” whether he had faith in his court.

At that, Rasheed asserted that he was already decided on the matter.

“I have been a minister 16 times and that is why I have appeared before the court,” said Rasheed.

IHC directs PM Shehbaz to review Hanif Abbasi’s appointment as SAPM

IHC on Monday directed Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to review his decision of appointing Hanif Abbasi as his special assistant.

Rasheed had filed the petition challenging Abbasi’s appointment on May 6.

  • Bitcoin falls to lowest since January after stock market

Bitcoin falls to lowest since January after stock market

Bitcoin on Monday, May 9 fell to its lowest level since January 2022, as falling equity markets weighed on cryptocurrencies, which are now trading in line with riskier assets like tech stocks.

In early trade, bitcoin fell as low as $33,266 to test the January low of $32,951. If it drops below that level, it will be at its lowest since July of 2021. The price then settled at roughly $33,500, down 1.4 per cent.

A Singapore-based crypto platform, Stack Funds said that everything in crypto is still classified as a risk asset, and most cryptocurrencies are pummelling in the same way that the Nasdaq has been.

The Nasdaq, which is heavily weighted in technology, plummeted 1.5 per cent last week and is down 22 per cent year to date, as persistent inflation forces the US Federal Reserve to raise rates despite slowing GDP.

On Monday morning Nasdaq futures were down another 0.8 per cent.

Other factors in bitcoin’s weekend slide were the crypto market’s notoriously low liquidity on weekends, as well as short-lived fears that an algorithmic stablecoin dubbed Terra (UST) could lose its stability against the US dollar.

The crypto world is keeping a close eye on UST because of its unique method of maintaining a 1:1 dollar peg, as well as its founders’ aspirations to construct a $10 billion bitcoin reserve to support the stablecoin, implying that UST volatility might potentially leak over into the bitcoin markets.

On Monday, Ethereum, the world’s second-largest cryptocurrency, plummeted to $2,421, its lowest level since late February.

‘No dance sequence was recorded’: Saba Qamar-Bilal Saeed discharged from Masjid Wazir Khan case

The acquittal pleas of singer Bilal Saeed and actor Saba Qamar in the case of alleged desecration of Wazir Khan mosque were accepted by Judge Muhammad Mushtaq in Lahore on Monday.

No scene of dancing was recorded in the mosque paresis, the acquittal plea maintained that claimants filed the case solely to blackmail celebrities. The pleas claimed that they obtained permission from the Auqaf Department to film the ‘Qabool Hay’ song shooting and that no witnesses had objected to the song being shot in the mosque.

It was argued that because the claimant’s lawyer, Farhat Manzoor Chandio, was not present when the filming was rerecorded and there was no evidence of a violation of the mosque’s sanctity, both parties should be acquitted.

A judicial magistrate had previously issued bailable warrants for singer Bilal Saeed’s arrest for failing to appear in court in a case of alleged desecration of the Wazir Khan mosque with his co-accused local actress Saba Qamar.

Both of the accused had filed for a personal appearance exemption. The Ghabrana Nahi Hai diva had gone to the UAE for professional assignments and would return by March 31, according to the accused’s lawyer, who also claimed that Saeed was unable to appear due to illness.

The reel pair landed in hot waters in 2020 when a controversial video from the shoot of their song went viral on the internet. A year later, news of the issuance of the arrest warrants of both the celebrities started circulating on the internet.

The celebrity duo have now clarified the news about their arrest in a statement issued by their lawyers.

As soon as the news went viral, the Cheekh diva and Saeed’s lawyers released an official statement regarding their arrest warrants. The details stated that their arrest warrants have been canceled and the original orders of the court have been misinterpreted to malign the characters of their clients, who are law-abiding citizens of the country.

While shooting for Bilal Saeed’s song Qubool Hai in Wazeer Khan Mosque, Lahore, the Hindi Medium diva was seen twirling for a scene of the music video.
