    Vasay Chaudhry apologises for ‘overseas Pakistani’ joke on Mazaaq Raat

    A clip from the Dunya News comedy show ‘Mazaaq Raat’ featuring model and actress Sarah Neelum went viral on social media.

    Neelum was seen mocking overseas Pakistanis for pretending to be well-established and wealthy in Pakistan, while they are actually washing toilets abroad.

    The clip received severe backlash from overseas Pakistanis. One user wrote:

    “This unknown model on national television is claiming that overseas Pakistanis clean gutters abroad and come to Pakistan to show off by wearing cotton clothes. Meanwhile, these very overseas Pakistanis contribute $32 million through their hard work abroad.”

    Actor Shaan Shahid was among the voices who critcised Neelum’s opinion:

    “Our overseas Pakistanis .. from all walks of life are our pride .. none should show disrespect .. towards them .. as the country and we the nation owe them much more than respect .. as their sacrifices are beyond words.. much respect.”

    The host of the comedy show, Vasay Chaudhry, stepped in to apologise for the tasteless joke by calling it a “ridiculous comment”.

    “I want to publicly apologise on behalf of my whole team at #Mazaqraat ,a very stupid,Vile & ridiculous comment was made recently abt overseas’s Pakistani’s by one of the guests in our show which was followed up by an attmepted joke by one of the comedians(again in bad taste).”

    The ‘Punjab Nahi Jaugni’ actor further added:

    “A formal apology will be aired in tonight’s episode. However , I wanted to personally apologise to all the Pakistanis living abroad.We Love you , even though you might not feel the same at this point, but ” ghalatiaan apnoo say he hoti hain.”

    Actor Sarah Khan recently appeared on Sania Mirza and Shoaib Malik’s chat show, The Mirza Malik Show where the Sabaat star revealed that she doesn’t like dancing due to several reasons.

    Sarah said that she has refused several offers to dance on-screen, even when she has been forced to do so. Khan said that she doesn’t feel comfortable dancing because she is too shy.

    Although she danced at her wedding, she never did it again.

    Khan has revealed that she refused to work in her husband and singer Falak Shabir’s music video as a model. Sarah and Falak recently appeared and talked about several interesting topics. During the conversation, Falak told the host that Sarah refused to feature in one of his videos because she had to dance in it which she cannot do.

    Sarah then said that she does not like to dance because she experiences extreme shyness and finds it difficult to dance even in a private setting. She ultimately declined the music video despite Falak’s repeated requests.

    Last year when a netizen commented under Falak’s post that he saved a female model’s fee by featuring alongside the Raqs-e-Bismil diva in this music video. The Roag singer clapped back at him by revealing that In fact, Sarah charged more than him for the song.

    The producers of the song paid more to the Alvida star for her appearance in the music video.

    Muneeb Butt did not hold back while replying to a social media user who wrote a scathing comment on one of his posts on social media.

    “Sastay marasi. Tum jaisi elite class ko is se ghanta farq ni parna,” a social media user commented on Muneeb’s post. “Nach gana or talaqon walay dramay or filmon ke ilawa tum log krte hi kya ho?” [This will have no effect on people like you who belong to the elite class.     In response to the user’s comment, Butt hit back and wrote: “Mehngey begairat! Naach ganey aur talaqon waley dramey dekhtey kyun ho [?] Dr ne kaha hai dekhna zaruri h phr bura b bolna jakey PTV p dekhlo urea se fassal ki tayyari aur ganney ki kaasht! (Why do you watch such dramas with divorce stories and dance in them? Has any doctor prescribed you to watch them and then criticise them? You should watch PTV’s (ads) on crop preparation(with the help of) urea and sugarcane cultivation).”

    The actor added that everyone struggles to achieve their goals and those who run away from the struggle often go to other people’s walls to depict their bizarre mindset.

    Meanwhile, Butt has announced that he has started working on his next drama in which he will be sharing the screen with Madiha Imam for the first time. The drama tentatively titled Mujhay Vida Kar has been written by Samra Bukhari and directed by Anjum Shehzad. Other cast members include Saboor Aly, Haris Waheed, Raza Talish, Shabbir Jan, Saba Hameed, Maira Khan and Paras.
