  • US Airport: Advanced security system asks ‘Are you a Terrorist?’ from people

The United States (US) has installed self-check-in kiosks at airports across the country for advanced security measures. People are being asked the problematic query, “Are You a Terrorist?” with a “Yes” or “No” option.

A freelance journalist, Asaad Sam Hanna shared an image of the kiosk on his Twitter where users started debating the query with amusement on how it provides security at airports.

One user commented jokingly, “there should be a third option: “Yes” “No” and “It’s complicated.”

Another user considered it a bad step was taken for security, “I really don’t understand how, since 9/11, our airport check-in has become more computerized, w much less human-to-human interactions. Given past observations by agents who have noticed suspicious behavior, seems like a bad thing for security.”

One user raised the question, “Does this question appears to white ppl or do they recognize their features and skip this question?”

One user explained the purpose of this query, “If you are (terrorist), and you lie, it’s a way for law enforcement to bring additional charges. Then they will go for what they can make stick.”

Twitter officially declares adding an edit button

The legendary “edit button,” which Twitter users have been demanding for so long that it’s become a cliché, is finally becoming a real thing. Twitter has now officially declared that it is working on allowing users to modify tweets after they have been posted on the platform.

The aim is to enable users to correct any mistakes or errors in a tweet without losing any existing replies, retweets, or favourites. Twitter said Tuesday that it will begin testing the capability with Twitter Blue subscribers in the coming months.

In a post on Tuesday, Jay Sullivan, the company’s VP of consumer development, remarked that editing has been “the most requested Twitter feature for many years.” Since last year, the corporation has been studying how to implement the function “safely.”

In the past, Twitter’s former CEO, Jack Dorsey, was hesitant to implement such a function.

Back in 2018, Dorsey even expressed concerns during a discussion, that an edit button may allow users to modify the meaning of a tweet after it has been widely shared, and he claimed in 2020 that Twitter would probably never incorporate the option.

  • Tesla’s CEO Elon Musk to join Twitter board after investing $2.9 billion in the platform

Tesla’s CEO Elon Musk to join Twitter board after investing $2.9 billion in the platform

Elon Musk, the world’s richest man, has been chosen for Twitter’s board of directors, just one day after it was confirmed that he is the social media platform’s largest shareholder, holding a 9.2 per cent stake.

On April 5, Twitter’s CEO Parag Agrawal said he was excited to announce Musk’s membership to the company’s board of directors.

Tesla’s CEO, whose personal wealth is assessed to be $289 billion, about $100 billion greater than the second richest person on the planet, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, has a history of publishing controversial tweets.

Musk was a “passionate believer and intense critic” of the platform, according to Agrawal, and it was exactly what Twitter needed to render it stronger in the long run.

Surprisingly, Musk has a Twitter following of more than 80 million, and he was already looking forward to collaborating with the company “to make big improvements” to the social media platform in the near future.

Twitter on Tuesday stated that Musk had agreed to serve as a class two director with a term terminating at the company’s annual meeting of shareholders in 2024.

Musk bought a nearly $3 billion (£2.3 billion) share in Twitter on Monday, which is more than four times the 2.25 per cent share held by the platform’s co-founder, Jack Dorsey.

However, Musk would not be able to own more than 14.9 per cent of Twitter’s outstanding shares, either alone or as part of a group, for as long as he was a board member and for 90 days later, according to the firm.

The CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, who ranks among the Top 10 most popular users on Twitter with 80.4 million followers, paid $2.89 billion for the stake on Friday at Twitter’s closing share price.

Twitter shares rose another 5 per cent Tuesday morning after soaring more than 27 per cent on Monday after reports of Musk’s stock purchase.

Ahsan Khan’s 4-year-old clip has once again come to life, as the #BritishAsian hashtag started to appear on Twitter’s trending list. In the video which was recorded in 2018, the actor flaunted a British accent and presented himself as a “British-Asian actor” who lives “here and there”.

Khan was in London for the International Pakistan Prestige Awards, where he received the ‘Star Of The Year’ award and spoke at multiple media interviews.

He voiced several excellent observations, and many people appreciated what he said about Pakistan’s growing drama industry.

The BBC also covered the ceremony, questioning PEMRA’s ruling (at that time) regarding our productions being “too bold”. Khan stressed the importance of using our shows to address Pakistani moral codes and cultural challenges.

He highlighted how there should be a clear distinction between exaggeration and depicting reality.

Besides the appreciation the actor received, the netizens could not resist noting something unusual about his accent during these interviews. The #BritishPakistani posts comprising Ahsan Khan’s quotes have once again flooded social media.

Trolling has become more common than ever before on the social media platforms like Instagram, Twitter, and others. Celebrities are often the victim of this troll brigade. Every gesture, every position, and every picture published by celebrities is critiqued, from their attire to their accent.

Ahsan Khan is best known for his roles in Udaari, Aangan, and Dastaan. For his act in Chupan Chupai, he was also nominated for Lux Style Awards for the ‘Best Film Actor’ in 2018. He currently hosts ‘Time Out with Ahsan Khan’, a talk show that was previously fined Rs50,000 by PEMRA for using animals as props.

  • Indian cricket board official makes false accusation, says PM Khan involved in match-fixing, deletes tweet later

Indian cricket board official makes false accusation, says PM Khan involved in match-fixing, deletes tweet later

Vice-President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Rajeev Shukla yesterday responded to Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan’s tweet about the current political situation of Pakistan.

Congratulating Pakistan Captain Baber Azam for his performance in the second Test match against Australia, PM Khan hinted at horse-trading by the Opposition parties in his tweet. “Unfortunately I could not watch this match as I am fighting on another front against match fixing where huge amounts of money are being used to lure my players!”

However, Rajeev Shukla misunderstood Imran Khan’s tweet and wrote, “ICC anti-corruption should take cognisance of this statement and coming from a prime minister who was also a legend cricketer.”

Shukla also tagged International Cricket Council (ICC) and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) in the tweet.

Rajeev, after receiving many comments pointing out that PM Khan’s tweet was about the current political situation in Pakistan, deleted his tweet and said that he was “being sarcastic”.

“I was also being sarcastic on Imran Khan tweet of political match-fixing on the eve of Holi which is known for humour and colours. Bura na mano holi hai,” wrote Shukla.

However, Twitter users are not buying Shukla’s explanation.
