  • Shaniera Akram shocked to see her husband ‘in his underwear’

    An old picture of Wasim Akram playing Holi in Bangalore recently took the internet by storm. The picture, dating back to 1987, was widely shared by social media users, including Akram himself, who used it to wish Holi to his followers.

    According to details, “the picture was taken during Pakistan cricket team’s 1986-87 tour of India for five Tests and six ODIs.”

    While the internet had a blast with Akram’s picture, turns out his wife Shaniera hadn’t seen it and was late to the party.

    “Opened Twitter today and the first thing I saw was a pic of my husband in his underwear! Is that normal?,” questioned Shaniera.

    “Haha what’s not normal is that I’m the last to know when a pic of my husband in his underwear has gone viral,” added Shaniera.

    She also complimented Wasim saying: “Cute pic Waz”

    Responding to Shaniera’s comments, Wasim joked: “It’s a new normal biwi and for your kind information they are shorts.”

  • Chrissy Teigen deletes Twitter account after 10 years

    Chrissy Teigen has deleted her popular Twitter account, saying the site no longer plays a positive role in her life.

    “For over 10 years you guys have been my world,” Teigen wrote to her 13.7 million followers Wednesday night. “But it’s time to say goodbye. This no longer serves me as positively as it serves me negatively, and I think that’s the right time to call something.”

    Teigen’s account was popular for its mix of jokes about her husband John Legend and their children, their playful banter on the site, funny observations about assorted topics and fierce retorts for those she disagreed with or who criticised her.

    That reputation is at odds with who she really is, the model and cookbook author wrote.

    “My life goal is to make people happy,” she wrote. “The pain I feel when I don’t is too much for me. I’ve always been portrayed as the strong clap back girl but I’m just not.”

    Last year, Teigen shared the heartbreak of a miscarriage on the site, posting an anguished picture of her in the hospital. Another image showed her and Legend grieving over a bundle cradled in her arms.

    While her candour about the loss of their son won praise, some criticised her for putting such painful moments on social media.

    She wrote Wednesday that she’s experienced so many attacks from low-follower accounts that she’s “deeply bruised.”

    In one of her final posts, she told her followers to “never forget that your words matter.”

    Teigen’s Instagram account, with more than 34 million followers, remains active as does Legend’s Twitter account, with 14 million followers.

  • Donald Trump plans comeback with ‘own platform,’ says advisor

    Former President of the United States (US) Donald Trump will reportedly be making a comeback on social media with “his own platform,” one of his senior advisors Jason Miller has said.

    Miller said that the platform “will be the hottest ticket in social media, and will completely redefine the game”.

    “This new platform is going to be big,” remarked Miller, predicting that Trump will draw “tens of millions of people”.

    Trump’s Facebook and Twitter account got suspended after deadly riots broke out at the US Capitol in Washington DC on January 6.

    While Miller refrained from sharing further details, he said that “everybody is going to be waiting and watching to see what exactly President Trump does”.

    In the meantime, Miller said that Trump will continue to endorse Republican candidates, hinting that one is expected to come on Monday.

    “There’s a big endorsement coming that’s going to shake things up in the political landscape in Georgia. It’s big, it’s coming tomorrow, and just be sure to tune in,” said Miller.

    The former president had nearly 90 million followers on the social platform.

    “I pride myself on being the person that I am today,” wrote Hania alongside a picture of herself. “Yes, I make the most of each day. Yes, I speak my mind. Yes, you might think I’m too much. I am. I am all of these things. I am extra. Extra. I love more. Laugh more. Feel more. Every emotion is heightened and that is the person that I am.”

    She further said: “But what I’ve been seeing on social media lately makes me not sad exactly but confused.”

    “How can people not be okay with seeing someone happy? Why can’t people be happy in others happiness? Somebody smiling can put you off? Because they’re not what you expect them to be or they don’t lead their life how you do?”

    “There are all kinds of people in this world,” said Aamir further. “Some you get some you don’t but [hate] is not even an option. At least not in 2021 when we’ve seen so much together as a world.”

    “Kindness is attractive. Being supportive is attractive. Respecting people is attractive. Coexisting with a difference of opinion is attractive.”

    “Basically I am amazing you should get to know me,” she concluded on a humourous note.

    Hania recently sparked backlash after she talked about colour shaming and flawed beauty standards. Netizens and social media users had called the actor out for using a beauty filter and not showing her own raw skin while talking about embracing flaws.

    Later, Hania took to her Instagram to respond to the criticism saying, “I was even wearing makeup that day. The point is being comfortable with who you are, doing things because you want to do them, not doing things because [of] the beauty standards that are set.”

    Netizens angry after Lahore university allegedly expels students for public proposal

    A university in Lahore has allegedly expelled two students for a public proposal followed by a hug, according to a notification circulating on social media.

    As per details, the notification dated March 12 states that the two students, who can be seen in the video, “were involved in gross misconduct and violation of university rules and were called to appear before the special disciplinary committee [but] failed to appear.”

    The notification further said that both students are “debarred from entering premises of University of Lahore and all its sub-campuses.”

    Soon after the notification went viral social media, students and other users stepped in to defend the couple and trolled the university over the decision.

    Jemima Goldsmith has opened up on being stalked and harassed by a cab driver.

    Responding to a tweet by British author Jojo Moyes about ingrained fear of women, Jemima revealed that she feels scared driving in a cab because she was stalked by a cab driver for almost two years.

    “For those lucky enough to be able to afford an Uber or cab when too scared to walk – that’s not always safe either,” wrote Jemima, adding: “I had a cab driver stalker who harassed me for two years.”

    “How many times have you felt scared with a male driver?” she questioned.

    Jemmia also suggested said that “Uber should have a lady driver service.”

    Meanwhile, Jemima is currently working on“What’s Love Got To Do With It”. Featuring Sajal, Shabana, Emma Thompson, Lily James and Shazad Latif in key roles, the movie is being directed by Shekhar Kapur of Mr India and Dil Se fame and will be produced by Goldsmith under the banner of her production house Instinct Productions. The film has been written by Jemima herself and is set between London and South Asia, exploring cross-cultural conflicts of love and marriage.

    What did PM Imran’s Sri Lanka trip cost taxpayers?

    Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan’s ongoing tour of Sri Lanka cost taxpayers a mere $34,800 (Rs5,507,771 or Rs5.5 million), his special assistant on political communication, Dr Shahbaz Gill, has revealed in a tweet.

    The 2016 visit of former premier Nawaz Sharif to Sri Lanka, on the other hand, had cost the treasury $276,266, he stated further.

    During his two-day-long visit to the country, PM Imran met President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and his Sri Lankan counterpart besides notable business personalities.

    While Gill went on to say that PM Imran’s trip had proven to be more fruitful as compared to that of Nawaz, Minister for Communications and Postal Services Murad Saeed also claimed that the incumbent premier’s Sri Lanka visit cost the treasury “just $34,000”.

    The minister further said the premier had cut his office’s expenses by 49%. He maintained the incumbent government was carefully spending public funds that were a sacred trust.

    Saeed’s statements come a week after it was reported that the expenditures of PM House and Office have reportedly reduced by 49% and 29%, respectively.

    According to reports, the total expenditure of the PM House narrowed down to Rs280 million (Rs28 crores) in 2020 from Rs339 million (Rs33 crores) in 2019 and Rs590 million (Rs59 crores) in 2018 — the year when the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) was handed reins of the country.

    The PM Office witnessed a considerable decrease in its expenditure from 2018 to 2020, but last year was slightly more than in 2019. It stood at Rs334 million (Rs33 crores) in 2020, Rs305 million (Rs30 crores) in 2019 and Rs514 million (Rs51 crores) in 2018.

    The premier, since assuming office in 2018, has been pushing for austerity measures to save taxpayers’ money and reduce the burden on the national exchequer.

    Despite the steps taken by PM Imran in this regard, the austerity drive has faced multiple setbacks owing to the apparent reluctance of the lawmakers in cutting down expenses.

  • Malala calls out PM Imran, army over escape of ex-Taliban spokesperson

    Nobel laureate Malala Yousafzai has asked Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan and the army as to how did former Pakistani Taliban spokesperson Ehsanullah Ehsan escaped Pakistan’s custody.

    “This is the ex-spokesperson of Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) who claims responsibility for the attack on me and many innocent people,” Malala tweeted after a Twitter handle “impersonating the former TTP spokesperson” threatened her.

    “He is now threatening people on social media,” Malala said further, after which she went on to ask the military’s media wing and PM Imran as to how did the Ehsan even escape.

    While the tweet by Ehsan, which Malala was responding to, has been deleted as a consequence of account suspension by Twitter, in it the ex-TTP mouthpiece had asked her father and her to return to Swat, saying they still “owe a massive debt”.

    Ehsan is infamous for issuing claims of carrying out TTP attacks and has been linked to some of the country’s most deadly incidents of terror. These include the massacre of children at Army Public School (APS) Peshawar, bombing at a park in Lahore on Easter in 2016, and the targeting of Malala.

    He surrendered to authorities in 2017 and later gave interviews to a Pakistani TV channel, leading to criticism and controversy that a terrorist was given airtime. It angered many in the country who believed he was being pampered by authorities after years of helping lead a violent insurgency.

    Ehsan mysteriously escaped custody in February 2020, which, according to SAMAA, was also confirmed by the army.

    While the now-suspended Twitter handle bearing Ehsan’s name was rather active, it has been dubbed as a fake one by many, including PM Imran’s focal person on digital media, Dr Arslan Khalid, who reacted to Malala’s statement.

    “It’s a fake account @Malala and there is zero tolerance for extremism in Pakistan,” he tweeted.

    However, Malala’s father Ziauddin Yousafzai responded to Dr Khalid, saying that they know for sure that the account belonged to Ehsanullah Ehsan.
