Why is India hosting the World Cup with empty stadiums?

Social media users are questioning the decision by the ICC to let India host the World Cup when there is no opening ceremony and barely any spectators in the first match.

Interestingly, when the Asia Cup was being partially hosted by Pakistan, some Indians criticized the ‘empty stadium’ in Multan. Now, the tables have turned, India is the host, the first match is between New Zealand and England, finalists of the last World Cup, and the stadium is empty. There was no opening ceremony for ICC World Cup 2023 and honestly, we can’t see spectators either.

This one’s hilarious, to be honest, does this remind you of Asif Zardari too?

Twitter user Ahsan Shehzad said, “A complete empty stadium in Ahmedabad, is India the right place to host the WC??”

‘I disagree’: Kareena Kapoor Khan strongly reacts to #BoycottBollywood trend

Bollywood actor Kareena Kapoor Khan recently responded to the Twitter trend #BoycottBollywood in which netizens are urging to boycott Bollywood movies. The Jab We Met star questioned how people will be entertained in the absence of movies during a function in Kolkata on Sunday for the Indian Chamber of Commerce-Young Leaders Forum event.

Kareena Kapoor Khan says THIS on Boycott Bollywood trend - CineTalkers

The “#Boycott Bollywood” campaign began last year, before a number of movies, including Laal Singh Chadha, Liger, Brahmastra, and Raksha Bandhan, were released. The tendency had an impact on some of the movies’ box office performances.

Boycott Bollywood: Could Daily Twitter Outrage Really Kill Hindi Cinema?

Kareena said, “I don’t agree with it at all. If that happens, how will we entertain, how will you have joy and happiness in your life, which, I think everybody needs And which cinema and films are promising, which we have always done, films have always done? Agar films nahi hogi toh entertainment kaisa hoga (If films aren’t there how will the people be entertained).”

Before Laal Singh Chaddha was released, a group of Twitter users urged people not to see the film by trending the hashtag #BoycottLaalSinghChaddha. Many urged for boycotting movies like Liger, starring Vijay Deverakonda and Ananya Panday, and Brahmastra, featuring Ranbir Kapoor. But Brahmastra was one of the highest-grossing movies of 2022 because of its strong box office performance. Prior to the release of Pathaan, starring Deepika Padukone and Shah Rukh Khan, the trend once more gained momentum.

On the work front, Kareena will be seen next in Netflix’s The Devotion of Suspect X, directed by Sujoy Ghosh.

Hardik Pandya and Rishabh Pant then provided India the finishing kick with a 63-run partnership in the last 3.3 overs. ‘Talk about business, poetry for another time’: PM Khan shuts a man for criticising govt

Prime Minister Imran Khan asked a man to stick to business matters instead of poetry when a man from the audience recited a critical poem targeting the premier after his address to the Pakistan-Tajikistan Business Forum.

First the state-run TV muted his voice, and then the prime minister stopped him before he could complete his poem.

“I have a verse for you, [which goes like] Itne zaalim na bano [don’t be unjust]. Imran Bhai, this is for you,” said the man in the audience.

“You have become a prisoner now. You used to be great when you were [protesting] on the container. Right now, we aren’t sure what you’ve gotten yourself involved in,” said the man.

The man went on to recite part of the verse, “Zaalim na bano, kuch toh murawwat seekho…” before he was cut off.

“Speak about matters related to business. We can make time for poetry later as well, Insha’Allah,” said the prime minister.

Twitterati reacted to PM Khan not letting the man complete his poem.

Journalist Absar Alam tweeted, “Fear of criticism did not allow Khan Sahib to listen to the whole poem even though he was probably trying to complain through the poem.”

Journalist Raza Rumi posted a tongue-in-cheek tweet and asked who was this brash man asking PM such questions.
