Ulema issue fatwa against terrorism activities, terms them haraam

A total of sixteen Ulema of the Deobandi school of thought from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) have signed a fatwa terming the terror attacks in Pakistan “haraam” and declared them unlawful.

According to the fatwa (religious decree) signed by the Ulema, there are clarifications on questions raised in light of controversial statements made by anti-state groups.

The decree says that not everyone has the right to declare Jihad and that those who are killed while protecting the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, such as the police and army personnel, are without a doubt considered martyrs.

The fatwa declared that anyone involved in sedition is considered to be rebelling against the Constitution of Pakistan.

In the past few months, Pakistan has seen an increase in terrorist attacks after a ceasefire agreement with the banned group Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) ended in November.

Rawalpindi Qari allegedly stabs 12-year-old girl student to death

A Qari allegedly stabbed a 12-year-old girl to death in Rawalpindi, as reported by Geo News. The perpetrator fled after committing the crime, but authorities apprehended him later that day with the murder weapon. The accused has been arrested along with the murder weapon.

As per the police, the 21-year-old Qari named Adil from Abbottabad used to visit the victim’s house to teach her the Holy Quran. The victim’s parents had barred the Qari from coming to their home after the girl complained about him, saying that he was trying to do immoral acts with her.

Adil followed the girl to her tuition centre and stabbed her in the neck with a sharp weapon.

The police reached the scene as soon as they received information about the incident, gathered evidence and sent the girl’s body to the hospital for a postmortem.

As per SP Rawal Babar Javed Joya, the accused confessed to the murder, saying that he killed her because the victim’s family was suspicious of him.

Killing over unsubstantiated blasphemy accusations is not permissible: Ulema

Pakistani ulema in their Friday sermons strongly condemned the recent lynching of a Sri Lankan national in Sialkot and said the killing of any person over unsubstantiated blasphemy accusations is not permissible.

The ‘day of condemnation’ was observed in mosques across the country on Friday.

According to the ulema, the courts have the authority to punish the perpetrator of blasphemy. Taking the law into one’s hands is not allowed according to Shariah and law of the land.

Special Representative of the Prime Minister on Religious Harmony Hafiz Tahir Ashrafi said the lynching of the Sri Lankan national had embarrassed the entire nation. Elements involved in making blasphemy allegations for their vested objectives would also be punished under the blasphemy law, he added.

  • PM Khan assures ulema that no law against Islamic guidelines will be made in his rule

PM Khan assures ulema that no law against Islamic guidelines will be made in his rule

Prime Minister Imran Khan during his meeting with Islamic scholars in Karachi said the controversial government bills — including one apparently addressing the issue of domestic violence and another drafted to check forced conversions — will not be enacted as they have provisions that are ‘in direct conflict with the teachings of Islam’, Ansar Abbasi reports for The News.

Prime Minister assured the religious scholars that no such law would be enacted during his rule. The premier requested the ulema to keep him informed about any such activities so that he could intervene in time and ensure that no policy or law which conflicts with Islam is made.

“Some non-governmental organisations are working hard to get such laws and policies legislated that promote westernisation and seriously hurt our family system and socio-religious values,” said PM Khan.

The premier pointed out that the spread of indecency and obscenity through social media seriously threatens our family system, which must be protected.

PM Khan also talked about the Turkish drama ‘Diriliş: Ertuğrul’
and said that he made PTV air it. He said that it became instantly popular and broke all records.

The premier said earlier he was being told that producing indecent and vulgar dramas and films was the only choice to make them sell and earn money. He, however, said that the Turkish drama, which shows Islamic history and has no indecent and vulgar parts, has negated this excuse of depending on vulgarity for successful productions.
