    Pakistani rupee sheds over eight paisa against US dollar

    The Pakistani rupee (PKR), continuing the trend of minor fluctuations against the US dollar (USD), dropped more than eight paisa on the second trading day of the week.

    The latest exchange rate shared by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) showed the Pakistani currency down by about 0.03 per cent, or more than eight paisa, on Tuesday, as the local unit settled the trade at Rs277.74 against the greenback.

    This is slightly lower than Monday’s closing rate of Rs277.66 per USD. The highest value of the US dollar was quoted at Rs277.85, while the lowest rate was reported at Rs277.75.

    Money exchangers bought the USD for Rs277.86 and sold it for Rs279.35.

    In terms of other foreign currencies, PKR’s performance, as expected, was not that impressive as the home unit remained largely stable.

    Against the British pound, the rupee dropped by 42.61 paisa or 0.12 per cent, closing at PKR 363.22 compared to PKR 362.79 on Monday.

    The PKR gained 42.46 paisa or 0.14 per cent against the euro, closing at PKR 303.04 from the previous rate of PKR 303.47.

    Against the Swiss franc, the rupee strengthened by 67.43 paisa or 0.21 per cent, closing at PKR 322.45.

    The PKR appreciated by 17.73 paisa or 0.45 per cent against the Chinese yuan, ending at PKR 39.04 from PKR 39.22.

    However, the local currency fell by 0.43 paisa or 0.23 per cent against the Japanese yen, closing at PKR 1.8632 from the previous close of PKR 1.8589.

    Lastly, the rupee declined by 2.32 paisa or 0.03 per cent against the UAE dirham, closing at PKR 75.62.

    The Pakistani rupee dropped more than two paisa or 0.01 per cent against the US dollar (USD) in Monday’s interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 277.66 per USD, compared to previous closing of Rs277.64.

    During the day, the Pakistani currency saw an intraday high of Rs277.75 and low of Rs277.50.

    US dollar to Pakistani rupee exchange rate today

    Speaking of the open market, local exchange companies quoted greenback value at Rs278 for buying and Rs279.5 for selling.

    During the ongoing fiscal year, PKR appreciated against the USD by 68.06 paisa or 0.25 per cent. While the current calendar year has seen PKR appreciate by Rs4.2 or somewhat around 1.5 per cent.

    In comparison to major foreign currencies, the home unit gained 47.48 paisa against the Euro, closing at 303.47 compared to the previous value of 303.94 on the last trading day (Friday).

    Dirham in PKR: The UAE Dirham surged in value by 0.41 paisa from 75.59 a day ago to 75.59.

    Pound in PKR: The British Pound was seen in red as it became cheaper by 26.18 paisa closing at 362.79 compared to 363.05 from a day ago.

    Franc in PKR: The Swiss franc saw losses of 93.52 paisa, closing at 323.12 compared to 324.06 from the previous session.

    Yen in PKR: Against the Japanese Yen, PKR gained 0.6 paisa, closing at 1.8589 versus 1.8649 a day ago.

    Yuan in PKR: The Chinese Yuan lost 6.62 paisa, closing at 39.22 against 39.28 from the previous session.

    Saudi Riyal in PKR: Lastly, the Saudi currency ended at 73.94 with gaining 0.41 paisa in its previous value of 73.94.

    The Pakistani rupee (PKR), on its last trading day of the week, managed to resume the trend of minor gains.

    According to the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), the PKR rose by 15.29 paisa against the US dollar (USD) and ended Friday’s trading session at Rs277.64.

    As compared to the last closing of Rs277.79, the PKR recorded a not-so-impressive gain of 0.06 per cent.

    During the trading session, the local currency remained mostly unchanged as it saw an intraday high of Rs277.85 with a low of Rs277.75.

    Exchange companies were buying the greenback for Rs278.50 and selling for Rs279.75. The Pakistani currency, in total, has lost 12 paisa against the greenback this week.

    A look at PKR’s performance against other foreign currencies

    As compared to the Euro, the PKR lost 29.92 paisa and closed the day at Rs303.94. The PKR was seen 17.23 paisa up against the British Pound as it closed at Rs363.05.

    The rupee also gained 0.09 paisa against the Japanese Yen and closed the session at Rs1.8649.

    The Pakistani rupee (PKR), on first trading day of the week, registered a marginal fall against the US dollar (USD).

    According to the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), the PKR dropped 0.04 per cent or 12 paisa in the inter-bank market and closed Monday’s trading session at Rs277.64 against the USD.

    The currency market now seems a little stablised after the International Monetary Fund (IMF) approved the fresh bailout programme and released the first tranche of around $1.1 billion.

    Globally, the US dollar extended a rally sparked by Friday’s strong US jobs data and an escalation in the Middle East conflict.

    During  the day, the PKR saw an intraday high of Rs277.75 and a low of Rs277.65.

    In the open market, exchange companies were buying the greenback for Rs278.25 and selling it for Rs279.84.

    This financial year, PKR has climbed by 69.89 paisa or 0.25 per cent against the USD. While the current calendar year has seen rupee gain 1.52 per cent or Rs4.22.

    The British Pound dropped by Rs1.5, closing at Rs363.89 compared to last closing rate of Rs365.39.

    PKR gained Rs1.47 against the Euro and closed at Rs304.48 as compared to the Friday’s rate of Rs305.95.

    The Swiss franc dropped by Rs1.87, closing at Rs323.69.

    Against the Japanese Yen, PKR gained 2.23 paisa, closing at Rs1.8727.

    The Saudi Riyal closed at Rs73.92 with a gain of 4.3 paisa from its previous value of 73.88.

    The Chinese Yuan gained 1.77 paisa, closing at Rs39.56 against Rs39.54 from the previous session.

    The UAE Dirham gained 3.18 paisa from Rs75.59 a day ago to Rs75.55.

    The Pakistani rupee (PKR) on the second trading day of the week rose marginally against the US dollar (USD) during intraday trading and managed to close the session in green.

    According to the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), the PKR gained 0.03 per cent or nine paisa against USD and settled Wednesday at Rs278.13.

    Considering the current financial year, the home unit has appreciated against the greenback by 29.89 paisa or 0.11 per cent. On the other hand, the calendar year has seen rupee appreciate by Rs3.82 or 1.37 per cent.

    The PKR shed 38.88 paisa against the British Pound and closed at Rs366.97 per GBP.

    The PKR shed over 18 paisa against the Euro and closed the trading session at Rs309.47 per Euro.

    The Swiss franc shed more than 25.6 paisa, closing at Rs329.18.

    The Saudi Riyal closed at 74.08 with a loss of 2.85 paisa from its value of 74.11 on Monday.

    Against the Japanese Yen, PKR rose 2.88 paisa, closing at Rs1.9592.

    The Chinese Yuan gained 0.35 paisa, closing the day at Rs39.21 against Rs39.21 on last trading day.

    For those unaware, the currency market remained closed on Tuesday due to the Eid Milad-un-Nabi holiday.

    The Pakistani rupee (PKR) on Wednesday maintained the trend of minor fluctuations in the interbank session and closed the day with minimal gains versus the greenback.

    According to the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), the rupee witnessed an increase of 0.03 per cent (7.72 paisa) and ended the day at Rs278.54 against the US dollar (USD).

    Exchange companies were buying the US dollar at Rs279.47 and selling it for Rs280.95.

    During the day trade, Pakistani currency’s highest value was recorded at Rs278.70 with the lowest ask of Rs278.50.

    Pakistani rupee’s performance against other foreign currencies, as  expected, did not witness major changes.

    The British Pound dropped 40.75 paisa against PKR and was quoted at Rs364.35 per GBP.

    The Swiss Franc went up by Rs1.07, finishing at Rs329.3 compared to Rs328.23 the previous day.

    Against the Japanese Yen, the PKR dropped by 3.1 paisa, closing at Rs1.9705, down from Rs1.9395 a day earlier.

    The Saudi Riyal fell by 3.44 paisa, closing at Rs74.23 compared to Rs74.27 the day before.

    The UAE Dirham lost 1.9 paisa, going from Rs75.86 to Rs75.84.

    The Chinese Yuan gained 2.96 paisa, closing at Rs39.16, up from Rs39.13.

    The Pakistani rupee (PKR) got stronger by 8.05 paisa, or 0.03 per cent, against the US dollar (USD) on Tuesday. The local unit finished the day at PKR 278.62 per USD, a little better than Monday’s closing rate of 278.7.

    During the day, the highest rate for the rupee was 278.80, and the lowest was 278.65. In the open market, exchange companies were selling the dollar at 281.03 and buying it for 279.46.

    Recently, the rupee has mostly stayed between 277 and 279 against the US dollar. Traders are paying attention to good news, including the International Monetary Fund (IMF) approving a new $7-billion Extended Fund Facility (EFF).

    Worldwide, the US dollar stayed steady on Tuesday. The Japanese yen moved slightly down from a one-month high as investors waited for US inflation data and reconsidered the chances of a big interest rate cut by the Federal Reserve next week.

    The Swiss franc dropped by 1.14 rupees, closing at 328.23, down from 329.37 the day before.

    The British pound got cheaper by 46.77 paisa, ending at 364.75 compared to 365.22 the previous day.

    The Saudi riyal closed at 74.27, gaining 1.22 paisa from 74.26.

    The UAE dirham became slightly more expensive, increasing by 2.19 paisa to close at 75.88 from 75.86.

    Against the Japanese yen, the PKR gained 0.8 paisa, closing at 1.9395 versus 1.9475 the day before.

    The PKR improved by 70.2 paisa against the euro, finishing at 307.51, compared to 308.21 previously.

    The Chinese yuan lost 5.95 paisa, closing at 39.13 compared to 39.19.

    Since the start of this financial year, the rupee has weakened by 27.83 paisa, or 0.1 per cent, against the dollar. However, it has strengthened by 3.24 rupees, or 1.16 per cent, so far this calendar year.

    On Friday, the Pakistani rupee saw a slight improvement against the US dollar, appreciating by 0.04 per cent in the inter-bank market.

    Throughout the day, the currency exhibited minimal movement, with an intraday high of 278.90 and a low of 278.65.

    In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at PKR 278.97 for buying and PKR 279.75 for selling, according to forex dealers.
