  • Faisal Kapadia reveals close bond with Junaid Jamshed

Faisal Kapadia reveals close bond with Junaid Jamshed

One half of the legendary band Strings, Faisal Kapadia, is one of the most well-known and honored musicians in the industry. With his debut solo album, he begins a new journey. Recently, Faisal appeared as a guest on ‘After Hours with Ushna Shah’. During the show, the host asked, “Singing your songs for the first time you performed live on stage in front of an audience, what was that feeling like? Do you remember that?”

Faisal replied, “A big crowd was there, so big that I would say Strings ran through our show. It was in Islamabad, the first concert, in July 1990. And due to nervousness, my voice gave out, so during the sound check, Junaid Jamshed came to see us. We didn’t know him, he was like Vital Signs. They released the album in November 1989, December, and we released ours. We saw them and got inspired when the music program ’89 came. So we recorded our album too, not knowing Vital Signs.”

Kapadia recalled the surprise and encouragement they received from late Junaid Jamshed saying, “Then Junaid just shows up at a sound check, and I was like, ‘Wow.’ And he said, ‘You know, I have heard your music, and you guys are great.’ Junaid’s presence was a big relief.”

Faisal Kapadia talked about the teachers he and Junaid Jamshed had.

“Junaid was very close to me. We used to share the same teacher, Ustaad Chahat Hussain Khan Sahib, who taught me and Junaid. Junaid was my only partner, and sometimes every two or three months, we would sit together and listen to pure classical music. You usually don’t get a chance to listen to 30-minute classical pieces with friends, but Junaid and I would often sit and listen to something like Raga Darbari or Adana Raga, which he really liked. So he was my classical music listening partner,” Faisal Kapadia added.

Strings was formed in Karachi in 1988 by Bilal Maqsood, Faisal Kapadia, Rafiq Wazir Ali and Kareem Bashir Bhoy.

Following this, she posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, saying, “I am putting a 100k bounty on their heads: Help me find them. If any lawyer wants to take up this case pro bono and help keep them behind bars for the maximum amount of time (once they’re found), please get in touch. (Bounty is a rhetorical term. Don’t kill them, duh).”

She added, “I am personally offering a reward of 100,000 PKR. (50K per monster) to anyone who turns these two in. Once they are behind bars, the reward will be given personally to me in cash. As well as a meet and greet with the winner and their family. Spread the word and find these perpetrators.”

The puppy killers have been identified as Asad and Talat, and have not yet been arrested by the police.
Asad is the primary suspect as he was the one recording the video and ordering a third person, Qasim (who has been arrested) to throw the puppy off the balcony.

  • Ushna Shah has interesting opinions on ‘delaying marriage’ for a guy

Ushna Shah has interesting opinions on ‘delaying marriage’ for a guy

Famous actor Ushna Shah has shared crucial marriage advice for young women. She suggests they should never wait for a guy to be ready for marriage.
In a recent podcast with ‘FHM’, Ushna said girls shouldn’t wait for a guy to be ready for marriage. “So many girls waste their time,” she said. “If a guy wants to marry you, he will. That’s it. There are no ifs or buts.”

She continued to say, “Something I learned late in my life but feel grateful for knowing now—that we have a biological clock ticking, unlike men. I’m not saying don’t focus on your career or rush into marriage. What I mean is, if a guy is wasting your time, don’t let him,” advised the actor. “If you have to delay marriage, do it for your career, your parents, or yourself, but never for a guy. If a guy is making an idiot out of you, don’t let him.”

“Girls, here’s another thing: don’t send long messages to a guy after a breakup. If he’s hurting you or cheating on you, the best thing is to vanish from his life. Don’t even talk to him; disappear, as if you were never there,” she suggested.

Shah ended her advice by saying, “Stop wasting your years, time, emotions, and mental health on other people. Nobody is worth it.”

  • ‘I think your clothes don’t define you as a good or a bad person’; Ushna Shah on wearing hijab

‘I think your clothes don’t define you as a good or a bad person’; Ushna Shah on wearing hijab

Actress and model Ushna Shah shared her thoughts on wearing a hijab in a recent interview. The superstar pointed out that some people believe that wearing a hijab automatically makes someone a good person. However, she emphasized that one’s clothing choices do not determine whether they are a good or bad person.

Ushna Shah highlighted that wearing a hijab is a personal choice, and during the interview.

Reminiscing about her Umrah experience two years ago, during the COVID-19 pandemic, she explained that there’s a misconception in society that if you wear a hijab or cover yourself, you are automatically considered a good person. She presented these views to highlight the contrasting perspectives that exist in society: “If you wear lehenga choli or sleeveless in your marriage then you are the opposite of good.”

“I know many of those who cover themselves but I don’t believe them as good human beings. I think your clothes don’t define you as a good or a bad person,” she said.

Ushna Shah shared that choosing to wear a hijab is a personal decision, and it’s something between an individual and God, so others shouldn’t interfere.

She also expressed her belief that modest clothing is both comfortable and stylish. According to her, opting for modest clothes has its advantages, such as freeing us from worries about weight gain and complicated hairstyling.
She added: “I enjoy wearing hijab and I understand why so many women enjoy this. It freed us from so many problems and in such clothing, you represent your religion.”

  • ‘Dangerous and irresponsible’: Ushna Shah calls out Maria B for misusing Palestine activism

‘Dangerous and irresponsible’: Ushna Shah calls out Maria B for misusing Palestine activism

Actress Ushna Shah took to her X (formerly Twitter) account to call out controversial fashion designer Maria B for misusing her tweets and photos from the Palestine march in Karachi to malign the transgender movement.

“Maria B’s collaboration with questionable low grade bloggers and use of my tweets and photos from the Palestine March — where I was incidentally standing with a transgender rights activist — for her agenda is dangerous and irresponsible. She’s misusing edited content to stir controversy, exploiting trending topics like Palestine in a way that’s beneath even her.”

“I am not aligned with her extreme right-wing or any extreme left-wing views,” continued the ‘Habs’ actress. “I have a diverse social circle, like most actresses working in showbiz, and I don’t subscribe to any political agenda. I value all life, from minorities to even animals. I urge Maria to realize the harm and potential risks to my safety her actions cause. In layman’s terms: please keep my name out of your mouth & don’t drag me in a war that has nothing to do with me.”

“I am not pushing any agenda except the liberation of Palestine, do not use me to push yours.” Ushna wrote. “I’m sorry I rejected coming to your march, but this was a sick retaliation which has endangered me. Me not wanting to associate with Maria and her march doesn’t make me an LGBTQ activist. It has nothing to do with that. She has made me uncomfortable since her stunt with the covid patient working in her home, I see her as an irresponsible person who weaponises religion to push her brand & her recent stunt proves just that. Using the photo from a *Palestine* march in which an activist Shahzadi came next to me for a while & posing it as an LGBTQ March is again highly irresponsible of her, not to mention spreading lies online to endanger someone is illegal.”

In the next tweet Ushna wrote: “To the fundamentalists threatening me: I’ve written this in Urdu. Simple words “meri dosti SAB ACTRESSES ki tarah SAB sey hei, meinay Palestine ke ilawa koi agenda push nahi kiya, Jo sawal mujhse karney hein woh sab actresses sey karein. LogoN ko mazhab Matt istemal karney dein sales banaaney ke liye. Mere Falasteen make stance ke baad haath sey endorsements jaa rahi hein, matlab high paying multinational waqfay, Jo ke aap sab ko patah hei mujhe bohot miliey thee alhamdulilah, Aur yeh logue Falasteen ko Aur mujhe istemaal kar rahey hein ratings ke liye”. I am at Umrah, let me get back to it without fearing propaganda. Jo masla mera hei hee nahi uss mein mujhe mutt ghaseetein. Aur meri avaaz falasteen ke haq mein Jo uthee hei ussey chup Matt karwayein.”

Ushna Shah ended the thread by writing: “Maria, I am not new to cheap made up controversies by bloggers but a woman in your position should know better than to use me and to use this genocide. You are old enough to be my mother. Since you decided to address me online and open me up to threats, even though you have my number, I’ve decided to do the same. What you have done is dangerous, irresponsible & illegal, and if I had time to visit FIR offices, I would.”

Maria B has yet to comment on Ushna Shah’s statement.
