    Cambridge Dictionary changes the definition of ‘man’ and ‘woman’

    The Cambridge Dictionary has altered its definition of ‘woman’ and ‘man’ to include people who identify as a gender different from their biological sex. The definition has been made to make the dictionary more inclusive.

    It has updated its definition of “Man” to include “an adult who lives and identifies as a male though they may have been said to have a different sex at birth.”

    According to the popular dictionary, “Woman” has been altered to have a definition of “an adult who lives and identifies as female though they may have been said to have a different sex at birth.”

    The new definitions are inclusive of trans people. However, the Dictionary is being criticised for including people who do not identify with the sex they were born with.

    A woman in Bahawalnagar was allegedly raped and beaten in front of her children. As per details the horrific incident took place on Monday in the city’s Khadimabad Colony, reports ARY.

    The suspect has been identified as Arsalan, who has also been accused of beating the woman when she resisted the assault. The accused then fled from the spot when the condition of the woman deteriorated.

    The woman was taken to hospital in critical condition. The rape survivor’s father has launched a complaint against Arsalan.

    Almost 21,900 women were reported to have been raped in Pakistan from 2017 to 2021, Zahid Gishkori has reported for Samaa. The data has been compiled by SAMAA TV Investigation Unit (SIU) from the Punjab home department and Ministry of Human Rights (MoHRs).
    This meant that approximately 12 women were raped every day, or one every two hours, throughout the country.

    A woman in Islamabad slaughtered her husband for hiding his first marriage, Shakeel Anjum has reported for The News. As per the details, the incident took place on Tuesday, in Sector G-12, Merabadi, Islamabad.

    According to the police, the man was already married but had not told Marjan Bibi, his second wife, about it. After finding out about it, despite the victim having long divorced his first wife, Marjan Bibi, who hails from Kohat, took revenge.

    As per the details, differences developed between the couple when the accused asked her husband about his first marriage. He admitted to having been married earlier, however he clarified that he had divorced his first wife years ago.

    The woman attacked her husband with a sharp weapon and killed him by slaughtering him with a dagger.

    A 30-year-old woman was arrested for reportedly staging her own kidnapping four times in order to extort money from her mother.

    The woman allegedly texted her mother a video of herself blindfolded and splattered with blood, a kidnapping she had staged on her own.

    “Mommy. They’ve kidnapped me,” the woman sobs in the video sent to her mother. “You can’t say anything to the police. If you do, they’ll kill me.” She told her mother that the kidnappers will release her for $50,000.

    This is not the first time that the woman tried extorting money from her mother. In the past the woman extorted at least $45,000 from her mother in three incidents.

    The woman and four others were arrested on September 5 from a casino. They were discovered with the knife and fake blood from the video. All five face charges of extortion, among other offenses.

    A picture of a family in India smiling at a funeral is going viral on the internet. The photograph was taken at Mariyamma’s funeral, a 95-year-old woman who had been unwell and bedridden for nearly a year. She had nine children and 19 grandchildren, all spread across the globe but most of them were at their family home when she died.

    The ‘happy’ picture is being criticised on social media. At least 40 members of the family were seen smiling as they gather around the funeral casket for a “family photograph”.

    “The people who cannot acknowledge the picture are those who have seen only tears after death. Instead of lamenting, the dead have to be bid adieu merrily. We have done the same,” said a family member of the dead woman in an interview with an Indian media outlet.

    “We sat around her body and shared memories about her. Her life was so inspiring and we felt so proud of her. We all decided to take that photo with smiling faces as there was nothing sad to feel about grandmother as she had led a fulfilled life,” Mariyamma’s granddaughter Harsha Elma Joseph told Times of India.

    According to the police, nine women, including a girl child, were killed in Peshawar in the last week. Incidents of women’s murders have taken place in Dawoodzai, Matni, Shahpur, Khazana and Regi.

    A female child was killed in a firing between two parties in Shangri. According to the police, most incidents of murder of women are cases of domestic violence and honour killing.

    The cases of murder of women were registered in their respective police stations, and the police have arrested 4 suspects involved in the incidents.

    As per the data compiled by the Sustainable Social Development Organization (SSDO) and the Centre for Research, Development and Communication (CRDC), the month of July saw 16 incidents of physical assault reported in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
    (KP), three cases of abduction occurred, 11 cases of rape were reported and17 cases of domestic violence were reported. 32 children were sexually abused and 27 children were kidnapped. 11 cases of physical violence against children were reported and three children were murdered. One child labour case was reported.

    A woman in Punjab’s Chatian Wala town murdered a minor child to take revenge from the mother of the child.

    According to the details, the deceased child and his mother were the neighbours of the woman.

    According to the police, the murdered child was five-year-old and his name was Rehan.

    The accused woman had fought with the child’s mother a few days ago in the same street. The woman took the child to his home and murdered him there.

    She later dumped his body on the same street.

    The police are investigating the case.

    Khadija, a female medical student who was subjected to torture in a viral video in Faisalabad, has denied reports of reconciliation with the main suspect, Sheikh Danish, and said she is still fighting the case against him and his family.

    “It is an old video,” she said while referring to a video in which she is apologising to Danish. She said that she was asked to make the video for some campaign.

    In addition, Khadija said that she needs support to fight her case against Danish.

    A video of a woman being subjected to torture in Faisalabad went viral on social media. A woman’s voice can be heard in the background as the girl is being tortured.

    As per the details, the girl being tortured in the video is a final-year BDS student. In her complaint, she alleged that Ana Ali, the daughter of the accused Danish Ali, had been a friend of hers since their school days and that she (the complainant) frequently visited her house

    The complainant claimed that during these visits, the accused Danish Ali became interested in her and even wrote her a formal proposal, which she declined.

    The complainant said that after she rejected the proposal, the accused began to put pressure on her through his daughter Ana Ali to change her mind and accept his proposal.

    The complainant claimed that the accused started sending her death threats. The complainant alleged that the accused Sheikh Danish Ali, his daughter and Faizan, Shoaib and Khan Muhammad barged into their house and then kidnapped her along with her brother and took them to their residence.

    “The accused tortured me and my brother and abused me in different ways and compelled me to lick their shoes. Later, accused Ana Ali and Maham made a video of me while cutting my hair with scissors on the instruction of accused Sheikh Danish and made the video viral on social media,” she added.

    Sheikh Danish Ali was also accused of attempting to rape her.

    A video of an elderly woman tied with ropes and being tortured is has been widely shared on social media. The incident reportedly took place in Okara on August 9. 

    According to the First Information Report (FIR) filed by the woman named Muniran Bibi, she was tortured over a land dispute. She was tied with ropes and subjected to torture by Imdad, Nawab, Khalil and Nawaz.

    The accused also tortured the daughter-in-law of the woman when she tried to rescue her.

    The police have registered a case against the accused four days after the incident took place. According to the police, raids are being conducted to arrest the accused.

    Inspector General (IG) Punjab has ordered the Okara police to immediately arrest all the accused.

    Woman gives birth to 4 children in Sindh

    A woman gave birth to four children on Tuesday at a private hospital in Shikarpur, Sindh. The woman gave birth to quadruplets at the Christian Hospital, reports ARY News.

    The woman is a resident of Amrot Sharif. The newborns included four baby girls. The quadruplets were doing well and their mother was also stable.

    According to the hospital administration, the woman’s brother said that the woman has given birth after 10 years of marriage.

    Last month in June, a woman gave birth to quadruplets — one boy and three girls — at Benazir Bhutto Hospital.
