    Yamaha proposes a ferry service linking Do Darya and Port Qasim, expanding water sports facilities in Sindh

    In a groundbreaking announcement, a Japanese firm, Yamaha, has presented a proposal to launch a ferry service connecting Karachi’s Do Darya with Port Qasim, as well as develop various water sports facilities across the province of Sindh.

    The proposal was discussed during a meeting between Chief Minister (CM) Syed Murad Ali Shah and Yoshiyuki ITO, the Senior General Manager for Central Asia and the Middle East at Yamaha Japan.

    The officials explored the potential of establishing water sports facilities at different barrages and lakes in Sindh, with a particular focus on enhancing recreational activities.

    A statement issued by the CM House outlined the discussion, revealing that the proposed ferry service between Do Darya and Port Qasim was among the key topics.

    Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah expressed enthusiasm for the idea, emphasising the immense potential to develop water sports facilities in collaboration with Yamaha Pakistan.

    The chief minister further highlighted the possibilities for establishing these facilities at various barrages in Sindh, including Keenjhar, Guddu, Sukkur, and Kotri Barrages.

    He underlined the importance of involving the private sector in such endeavors, which would contribute to the growth of water-based recreational activities in the region.

    During the meeting, the Yamaha representative informed Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah that the proposed ferry service would not only facilitate transportation but also provide recreational opportunities.

    Additionally, he emphasised the quality and performance of Yamaha’s WaveRunners, indicating their suitability for water sports enthusiasts.

    The introduction of a ferry service and the development of water sports facilities in Sindh would not only boost tourism but also enhance the overall experience for locals and visitors alike.

    As the proposal moves forward, collaboration between Yamaha and the provincial government holds the promise of an exciting future for water-based recreational activities in Sindh.

    Yamaha has recently announced its first price increase of 2023, affecting all of its motorcycles. The latest announcement marks the second increase in prices since December, with the highest increase being up to Rs3,500.

    Despite this, Yamaha has implemented the smallest price increases compared to its competitors and has only raised its bike prices once this year.

    In contrast, Yamaha increased its bike prices seven times last year. Due to the persistent economic issues in Pakistan, dealers and industry experts are anticipating further price hikes this year.

    According to recent data, a significant proportion of bike manufacturing has been localised in Pakistan. As such, there appears to be little justification for motorcycle manufacturers to frequently and substantially increase their prices.

    Yamaha Motor Pakistan on Tuesday announced an increase in the prices of its overall motorcycle lineup owing to an increase in production costs.

    According to a notification made in this respect, the Japanese bike manufacturer raised the price of its five models by up to Rs13,500, with the new rates taking effect on January 4, 2023.

    The price of the YB125 Z model has been increased by Rs12,000 to Rs305,500. The price of the YB125 Z DX model has also been increased to Rs327,000 from Rs314,500, according to Geo.

    Yamaha increases motorcycle prices for the 5th time in 2022

    Yamaha has announced a significant price increase for motorcycles effective from August 1, 2022. All variants from the manufacturer, including the YB 125Z, YB 125Z DX, YBR 125, and YBR 125G, have seen price increases.

    It is important to note that this is the fifth price rise for Yamaha motorcycles in Pakistan since the year 2022 started, with the previous increase occurring in June 2022 and costing more than Rs20,000 for each model.

    The Yamaha YB 125Z will now cost Rs273,000 after an increase of Rs18,000, and the Yamaha YB 125Z DX will cost Rs292,000 after a hike of Rs18,000.

    Similarly, the Yamaha YBR 125’s price has increased by Rs19,500 to Rs300,000. After an increase of Rs20,500 for both models, the price of the Yamaha YBR 125G (Black/Red) is now Rs312,500, and the Yamaha YBR 125G (Gray) is now priced at Rs315,500.

    Nevertheless, this was to be expected, and over the course of 2022, Yamaha Motorcycle prices are predicted to rise by several factors, especially in light of the depreciation of the Pakistani Rupee (PKR) against the US dollar and the implementation of the Super Tax on the automotive industry.

    There is little justification for motorcycle manufacturers to raise prices so frequently and by such significant margins as bike manufacturing has been localised by up to 94 per cent in Pakistan.

    The depreciation of the local currency caused price hikes across the board in Pakistan’s auto industry, whether it be for cars or two-wheelers, pushing prices out of reach for an average person.

    The prices of Yamaha’s motorcycle lineup have increased, with the hike reaching as high as Rs26,500 and the new pricing taking effect from July 1st.

    According to Brecorder, the development comes a day after Atlas Honda raised the prices of its lineup.

    Yamaha’s YB125Z has seen a price hike of Rs23,500, bringing the current cost to Rs255,000. The cost of the YB125Z DX also increased by Rs25,000. The updated cost is Rs273,500.

    After a Rs25,500 price increase, the YBR125 will now be available for Rs280,500. The cost of the YBR125G rose from Rs26,500 to Rs292,000. The cost of the YBR125G (Matte Dark Gray) has also gone up by Rs26,500 and will now be available for Rs295,000.

    Last month, the company similarly raised the price of bikes by between Rs21,000 and Rs23,000. Motorcycle producers at the time cited rising raw material costs, rising international freight charges, and the ongoing depreciation of the rupee as causes.

    Sabir Sheikh, Chairman of the Association of Pakistan Motorcycle Assemblers (APMA), stated that the recently enacted super tax of 10 per cent and the weakening rupee are to blame for the increase.

    Pakistan’s top two-wheeler manufacturer, Atlas Honda has announced another significant price hike for its motorcycles which is Honda’s third price increase in less than five months.

    Honda CD70, the country’s most popular two-wheeler, is now priced at Rs102,900, after an increase of Rs3000. The 100cc Honda Pridor following the increase will be sold for 139,000 after an increase of Rs3000 in its old price of Rs136,900, while the iconic Honda 125 is now priced at Rs163,500 after a hike of Rs4000 in its prior cost.

    The price of the Honda CB 150 SE increased by Rs8,000, bringing the total price to Rs303,900, up from Rs295,900 previously.

    Pakistan’s two-wheeler industry has achieved over 90 per cent localization, according to the Ministry of Industries and Production’s (MOIP) latest report. This means that the majority of a motorbike’s structural and mechanical components are manufactured in Pakistan, with only a few foreign parts.

    Despite this, all companies continue to raise their bike pricing without introducing or incorporating any advancement, putting them out of reach for the majority of local consumers.

    Suzuki Pakistan has announced a massive price increase for its entire motorcycle lineup, following Yamaha and Honda. The new prices are effective from Friday, April 1, 2022.

    The biggest price increase has been announced for the 150cc GR-150 variant, which is now priced at Rs330,000 after getting a massive hike of Rs15,000 in its previous cost of Rs315,000. Considering the size of its engine, this is unquestionably a significant and unjustified increase.

    Suzuki GS-150, one of the most prominent bike in Suzuki’s lineup witnessed a hike of Rs10,000 for both variants (GS-150 and GS-150SE). The base GS-150 costs Rs225,000 after the hike and the upper variant GS-150SE is now priced at Rs242,000, as compared to their earlier prices of Rs215,000 and Rs232,000.

    Moreover, the 110cc variant, Suzuki GD-110s which was previously sold at Rs199,000 will now be offered at Rs207,000, after getting a hike of Rs8,000.

    The motorcycle manufacturer raised the prices of its motorcycles four times in 2021, and this is the first price rise of 2022. Suzuki motorcycle prices were increased by up to Rs28,000 between January and December 2021.

    Bike manufacturers’ pricing hikes have pushed two-wheelers out of reach for most of the country’s population. Despite the fact that the matter has been raised numerous times in the media, the government has yet to take a step in this regard and maintain pricing consistency.
