By now everyone knows that Hamza Ali Abbasi has taken a break from acting to focus on his spiritual journey and getting a better understanding of Islam. The actor turned evangelist also often shares his thoughts and understanding of religion on social media.
Recently Abbasi tweeted that he fails to understand why we need a Messiah or an Imam when we have the Quran.
I fail to understand why we need a Messiah or an Imam or a Murshid…. When we HAVE THE QURAN!… We only need good teachers…
When a follower shared his thoughts on the matter, Hamza said that he is “referring to terms that denote self-proclaimed directly divinely guided people.”
I am referring to terms tht denote self proclaimed directly divinely guided ppl…
Hamza further asserted that all problems within Islam exist today because we have started neglecting the Quran.
All problems within Islam exist today because soon after Rasool Allah SAW left the world, we slowly neglected what Quran is & says in its entirety, we picked individual verses, completely out of context, held history & conspiracy theories more sacred than the Quran.
Following Hamza’s comments, Mohsin Abbas Haider and Shahroz Sabzwari expressed their reservations and disagreed with Abbasi. While Mohsin advised Hamza to keep learning, Sabzwari commented that he fails to understand why some people become the thaikaydaar (custodians) of Islam.
“We need to make a horrible example of Mr Mohsin for all those men who dare raise there hand on the female servants of Allah & try to justify it,” Hamza had said.
On the other hand, Yasir Hussain supported Hamza’s stance and said that he is saying the right thing.
Asim Azhar’s upcoming song Tum Tum has already created waves before it even released. The reason for this is because Tiktok star Areeka Haq is featuring in the song. Asim’s fans were disappointed with him for including the Tiktoker and sent a lot of hate his way. It is pertinent to mention here that Haq has more than a million fans on Instagram.

Heard the sad news of legendary anchor Tariq Aziz sahab this morning. May Allah make his journey onwards easy. He was the first face of Pakistan Television. #TariqAzizpic.twitter.com/hRaU1mbokR
Inna lillah e wa inna elaihi rajio’on… such sad news… a legend departs… an era ends… generations grew up with him… Nation and PTV should pay the deserving homage. https://t.co/Zz3Yr8L4TN
Born in 1936 in Jalandhar, Aziz began his professional career from Radio Pakistan Lahore and was one of the most recognisable voices on the radio. Later, he joined PTV, where he not only became the state-owned television’s first announcer, he also became popular for his work on PTV’s Quiz Show Neelam Ghar, first aired in 1974. The show was later renamed the Tariq Aziz Show and also known as Bazm-e-Tariq Aziz.
Aziz’s unique hosting skills on Neelam Ghar made him a household name in Pakistan over the past four decades in the country.

Other than that, Aziz was also a poet and a film actor – he was part of several films over the course of his career. He also featured in the super hit musical Salgira (1969), which went on to win two Nigar Awards that year.
Aziz was also a member of the National Assembly of Pakistan between 1997 and 1999.
He was awarded Pride of Performance Award by the President of Pakistan in 1992 for his services to the nation.
The tragic suicide and death of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajputhas prompted a debate on mental health and the importance of being there for your friends and loved ones. Yasir Hussain, in a social media update, has told his friends and colleagues in the industry that he is available for them and is just a phone call away.
“Koi bhi depression ka shikar ho, toh mujhe call karay. Aap ko hasana mera kaam hai (Anyone who is experiencing depression, please call me. Making you laugh is my job then),” said the actor, adding “Love you all”.
Other than Yasir, Mahira Khan, Maya Ali, Osman Khalid Butt and Mawra Hocane also urged their followers to be kind and listen to the silent cries of those around them.
Why have we made it cool to be ‘straight up’? That isn’t called honesty, it’s downright apathy! Be kind and proud. Wear it like a badge. Be kind. Be kind. Be kind. There is much more to people than they show. Be kind ffs.
Why do we realise only when someone is gone forever, why can’t we be kind to them when they need it the most. Please don’t wait for anyone’s call or message. Call or message or just say hi before it gets too late…
It’s so important for all of us to be Kind, to be compassionate, to be polite. We all have a role to play in each other’s life. Let’s all have a big heart for one another. Let’s please be KIND!!!!! ❤️#SushantSinghRajput RIP!
Someone’s depressive episode might seem ‘dramatic’ to you, but that doesn’t invalidate what they’re going through. There is already such a stigma regarding mental health: we’re conditioned to combat this on our own, to dismiss and suppress.
The untimely demise of Sushant Singh is yet another reminder for us to be there for our loved ones making sure they know they aren’t alone. Mental health is a serious issue and should be dealt with as such. Take care of ppl around you#RipSushantSinghRajput#MentalHealthMatters

Yasir Hussain seems to have stirred up quite a storm with his comments on Turkish dramas and Diriliş: Ertuğrul. After Mansha Pasha and Anoushey Ashraf stepped in to defend him, more members of the entertainment industry are sharing their stance on the matter.
Osman Khalid Butt discussed how the drama series can benefit Pakistan
Without taking any names, Osman addressed Yasir’s concerns that foreign content spells death for the local industry.
“Sharing my response to a post that insinuated our jobs are under threat,” wrote Osman. “I don’t recall us actors finding ourselves jobless when Ishq-e-Mamnoon or Mera Sultan were all the rage in Pakistan.”
He further said that the series can help “create more job opportunities for local dubbing/VO artists” in Pakistan.
Osman also suggested that PTV can “use the revenue generated from this series to create our own original content”.
Sharing my response to a post that insinuated our jobs are under threat:
I don’t recall us actors finding ourselves jobless when Ishq-e-Mamnoon or Mera Sultan were all the rage in Pakistan. Nor did Turkish actors ‘infiltrate’ the local industry & replace us. – contd.
Of course, I’d love it if our national television uses the revenue generated from this series to create our own original content – shows that can rival Ertugrul in narrative if not in scale, and showcase our own historical events.
“We need to have more faith in our content, writers and work as an artist,” wrote Maya on Instagram.
Ahmed Ali Butt said that though he respected Yasir’s opinion, he did not agree with it
“One should not be crucified for voicing their concerns,” said Ahmed.
He said that Ertuğrul is a great drama which promotes Islamic values.
Butt also added that he believes that the “Government of Pakistan should grant special budgets to Pakistani production houses with specific guidelines to produce historical dramas with local talent and artists also”.
While Munib Nawaz supported Yasir and called him a true artist, Ali Kazmi said that this should be a wake up call for the industry.
Gohar Rasheed also added his ‘two cents’ on the matter
He said that “if you want job security, take ownership, and create better content. Stop being petty.”
Neelum Munir says “we should look beyond and understand its Islamic content, which has so much wisdom and teaches us the history and the values of Muslims”.

Armeena Khan said that if you want to watch good Pakistani content, watch Hamza Ali Abbasi, Kubra Khan and Sajal Aly’s Alif
Yasir had urged PTV to make a historic drama using artists and technicians who pay taxes to the country.
“Landy k kapray aur Turkey k dramay, dono hee local industry ko tabah kardein gay,” the actor had written.
Following his colleagues remarks, Yasir responded saying: “Yeh humara kaam nahi hai bhai idary ka hai.”
Set in 13th century Anatolia and based on the struggle of Ertuğrul Gazi, father of Osman I – the founder of the Ottoman dynasty, Diriliş: Ertuğrul has been trending in the country ever since its first episode aired on PTV Home. Pakistanis are loving the drama series and it has become a sensation in the country. According to PTV, 133.38 million people have watched the drama series from April 25- May 14. PTV’s YouTube channel has also registered an exponential rise in its viewership with 3.13 million subscribers and episodes trending every day on the social media platform.
In an exclusive interview with The Current, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Senator Faisal Javed Khan revealed that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan had gifted the drama series to Pakistan as a goodwill gesture.
The debate around the airing of Diriliş: Ertuğrul doesn’t seem to end.
After Shaan and Reema, Yasir Hussain has also come forward and urged PTV to make a historic drama using those artists and technicians who pay taxes to the country.
“Landy k kapray aur Turkey k dramay, dono hee local industry ko tabah kardein gay,” wrote the actor.
It appears that actor received criticism for his comments because, in a successive Instagram story, Hussain said that when someone’s father or brother lose their jobs to Turkish people, only then will they understand what he is saying.
Meanwhile there are some actors who have praised the series.
Great example of how to use television to spread what is good. My beloved Rasool Allah SAW was indeed Rahmat al lil Alameen…. Allah’s mercy upon mankind. pic.twitter.com/urqIKLSCGG
This tweet is in praise of Dirilis: Ertugrul. The Turkish dramas I’ve seen are generally all bingeable but I’m consuming an unholy amount of this show. Is it a GoT fix? The excellent cast & plot? The intrigue, the reverence for customs & traditions? All of the above?
Turkish historic drama series Diriliş: Ertuğrul has been trending ever since its first episode aired on PTV Home. Pakistanis are loving the drama series and it has become a sensation in the country to the point that PTV is now aiming to set a new record with the series.
In an exclusive interview with The Current, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Senator Faisal Javed Khan revealed that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan had gifted the drama series to Pakistan as a goodwill gesture.
There is no doubt that Iqra Aziz is a great actor. From her role in Suno Chanda to her portrayal of a greedy, selfish manipulator in Jhooti, she gets her roles down. But why she picked Jhooti is a question she might soon need to answer. 16 episodes in, the drama is going from lame to lamer and watching it makes it even more painful.
Lovesick husband Nasir with classic manipulator Nirma, handing her money to save his marriage
Maybe the pain comes from the fact that Yasir Hussain really can’t act or that the storyline is so typical that only an Indian soap opera miracle can help it. Nirma (Iqra Aziz) is a self-absorbed thief who manipulates sad, lovestruck Nasir (Ahmed Ali Butt) into giving her a lot of cash and property because he wants to marry her. They marry, get divorced and she meets Ali (Yasir Hussain) who she thinks is this loaded bachelor and is going to invest all her ill-gotten money in property.
She falls for him, marries him but turns out he’s just as big a manipulator as her. He’s using Nirma to get money so he can pay back his ex-wife who is threatening him if he doesn’t. So here he is, lying to Nirma, trying to get money out of her while she turns from manipulator to manipulated.
Ali, played by Yasir Hussain, is probably the most important but the most mediocre character in the series
Painful isn’t it? And so very typical. The running into your lying husband who says he is in Dubai but ends up at Park Towers Mall is so overdone. Bus kardo yaar, we all know she will find out that she got what she deserved and everyone was right about what a jhooti she was and oh ho, she totally deserved it.
There is no doubt that Iqra Aziz is a fantastic actress as she fully takes on the role of Nirma
The only saving grace is Iqra. Her acting as Nirma is on-point perfection. She seems like a greedy sister, a classic narcissist right down to her nails. Even Iqra’s height suits the role, this little innocent girl who is lying to everyone around her. But that’s just it. The drama doesn’t inspire anything else. It’s one that can be watched while you’re doing something else and it just plays in the background, or be seen because you have to write a review on it. Otherwise, it’s a dead bore and the only way it can be redeemed is if…well can’t really think of anything that can help this storyline.
Iqra Aziz and Yasir Hussain are preparing protective suits for the doctors and paramedical staff who are fighting against coronavirus on the frontlines.
In a recent video on Instagram, Yasir could be seen stitching a protective suit for doctors with wife, Iqra. He also credited the initiative to the Pakistani designer Asim Jofa who provided them with a waterproof cloth.
Iqra Aziz requested her followers to help the doctors.
“We both have made this protective suit together and so can you. Please start stitching and sending in your help,” she said.
As coronavirus cases continue to grow in Pakistan, doctors across the country are requesting authorities and the government to provide them with proper protective equipment so that they are not exposed to the virus.
It appears that there is no holding back for Yasir Hussain when it comes to expressing his love for Iqra Aziz because the actor recently got his wife’s named tattooed on his arm, pictures of which are going viral on the internet.
The tattoo is pretty big in size and covers a large portion of Yasir’s arm. Now that’s a big commitment.
Meanwhile, Yasir also shared a picture of himself showing off his tattoo to the other newlyweds: Hassan Hayat Khan and Sadia Ghaffar, who tied the knot over the weekend.
While the trend of tattooing your better half’s name on your body is new in Pakistan, couples in other parts of the world have been doing it for a while. For example, Deepika Padukone had a tattoo of Ranbir Kapoor’s initials on the back of her neck; Saif Ali Khan got Kareena Kapoor’s name tattooed on his arm.
Iqra and Yasir have lately been on a PDA spree and have been sharing loved up photos of themselves from Sadia and Hassan’s wedding on social media.
