    Khan’s release not possible under current PTI leadership, says Fawad Chaudhry

    Former leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Fawad Chaudhry, has criticized the party’s current heads, stating that there is no possibility of incarcerated former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s release in the presence of the current leadership, Geo News reported on Sunday.

    “[Due to] lack of political strategy of current PTI leadership, all of us are suffering,” said the former vice president of the party, who left PTI after the May 9 events.

    He also replied to criticism that those who left Imran Khan during a difficult time have started speaking up for him now that the draught period has passed.

    “Tough times have not ended for the jailed former premier and other PTI leaders. Yasmin Rashid, Ejaz Chaudhry and others are still behind bars and going through a difficult time,” Fawad Chaudhry said.

     “Some people start their journey from Peshawar and return after staging a rally in Lahore,” he remarked.

    Dr Yasmin Rashid shifted to hospital from jail

    Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) senior leader Dr Yasmin Rashid was shifted on Wednesday to Services Hospital as her health worsened in Lahore’s Kot Lakhpat jail, where she has been incarcerated since months.

    Hospital administration confirmed to Geo News that the senior politician had felt abdominal pain and was then shifted to the hospital for medical tests.

    Doctors will observe the cancer survivor for 24 hours to confirm stability.

    The Kot Lakhpat jail’s medical officer released a document declaring Yasmin Rashid a “critical prisoner.” As per the issued document, the senior politician hasn’t eaten anything since Wednesday morning.

    Dr Yasmin is reportedly also dehydrated due to continuous vomiting at the jail.

    The senior PTI leader has been in jail for months in cases linked with the May 9 violent protests that erupted last year after the arrest of PTI founder Imran Khan in a corruption case.

    Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) incarcerated leader Dr Yasmin Rashid asked the federal government on Tuesday who was repeatedly transferring the judges hearing her case and the cases of party workers.

    “If some innocent person is given bail, he is arrested again in a new case. This is not justice, this is political vengeance, and the PTI has been a victim of this for one year,” the imprisoned PTI leader said in a letter addressed to Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa.

    Dr Yasim said that one year had passed since the May 9 incident happened, and still, women PTI workers are in jail.

    The PTI leader questioned the “bogus government” as to why police did not show up with cases’ records and wondered where the prosecutor goes at the time of presenting arguments.

    She requested the CJP to make a judicial commission on May 9 as PTI workers have been waiting for justice for one year.

    PPP’s top leadership has prevented its provincial chapter from attempting to persuade Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to form a non-political alliance in the upcoming Senate election.

    PPP Punjab chapter suggested forming an electoral alliance with PTI for women and technocrat seats in Punjab.

    The PTI proposed it to the special committee of the PPP after receiving a conditional offer. They asked the PPP to vote for Yasmin Rashid.

    Sources told SAMMA that in return, the PPP offered to support Faiza Malik in women’s seats. 

    PPP instructed the party leadership in Punjab to form an alliance with the political allies Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) instead of PTI.

    Dr Yasmin Rashid will be PTI’s senate candidate from Punjab

    Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has decided to field senior leader Dr Yasmin Rashid for Senate seat in Punjab for the upcoming polls set to take place on April 2, The News reported on Thursday.

    PTI’s senior leader Mian Aslam Iqbal disclosed on his X (previously Twitter) account that Yasmin Rashid will be the party’s candidate for the senate seat in Punjab.

    Mian Aslam Iqbal also said that Zulfi Bukhari and Hamid Khan are the party’s candidates for general seats. However, Brigadier (retd) Musadiq will be the PTI’s candidate for the technocrat seat.

    The development comes as the senior politician’s earlier bid to secure a place in the National Assembly failed after she lost to Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif on Lahore’s NA-130 seat in the February 8 polls.

    Dr Yasmin Rashid is currently in Adiala jail in cases pertaining to the violent incidents of the May 9 riots last year. 

    52 seats are vacant in the Senate after the expiration of the six-year term of senators. However, senate election will be held on 48 seats, as the four reserved seats for Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) had been abolished after the 25th Constitutional Amendment.

    Amidst the clash between police, rangers and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) supporters, a second alleged audio leak of former provincial Health Minister Dr. Yasmin Rashid has surfaced online.

    In the alleged audio, Rashid is in conversation with President Dr Arif Alvi, asking him to intervene in the crisis at Zaman Park.

    The audio leak is transcribed as follows;

    Rashid: Sir, the situation is very bad here.

    Dr Alvi: Yes, absolutely.

    Rashid: Our workers have started throwing Molotov cocktails. Before bloodshed takes place, I think you need to talk to someone and intervene.

    Dr Alvi: I have talked.

    Rashid: You should tell him that you will talk to him and try to sort… to Khan sahab.

    Dr Alvi: I don’t understand what you’re saying.

    Rashid: Sir, the situation right now is that people may die, some policemen will be killed. The situation will worsen so much that the elections will be postponed. This was our purpose.

    Dr Alvi: Okay.

    Rashid: I think what you need to do is, tell him [Khan sahab], that he should give in and fight another day. This is what I think and the rest is up to you. He will not give up.

    Rashid: Petrol bombs were thrown. I am intentionally sitting outside. I had to call people.

    Dr Arif: Let me consult Asad Umar.

    Rashid: I talked with Asad, he asked me not to say anything. We both are sitting outside.

    Dr Alvi: Okay.

    Rashid: I think you should talk with Shah Saab [Shah Mahmood Qureshi]. He is sitting inside with Khan.

    Dr Alvi: Okay.

    Earlier in the day, Rashid in another alleged audio leak told former Federal Minister for Narcotics Ejaz Shah that Khan Sahib has said at that it is time to call all MNAs and MPAs.

    Amidst the clash between police, rangers and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) supporters, another alleged audio leak has surfaced online.

    This time around, one can allegedly hear former Health Minister Yasmin Rashid and former Federal Minister for Narcotics Ejaz Shah in conversation about the plausible arrest of PTI Chairman Imran Khan.

    In the alleged audio, Rashid told Shah that Khan Sahib has said at that it is time to call all MNAs and MPAs.

    On hearing this, Shah replied that they were doing it. Rashid then gave Khan’s instructions to the former minister and said that the party head is asking to bring people and reach there.

    According to Rashid, Khan is telling them to come immediately, or he will not give party tickets to those who do not come.

    Interim Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Mohsin Naqvi and Punjab Inspector General (IG) Dr Usman Anwar on Saturday jointly addressed the press conference, presenting their case that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) worker Ali Bilal lost his life in a car accident and not due to custodial torture by the Punjab police.

    Both of them claimed that PTI leadership had known the truth yet accused the Punjab government of Bilal’s death.

    CM Naqvi said that the Vice president of the PTI in Central Punjab Raja Shakeel informed PTI leader Yasmin Rashid that Bilal was hit by a car. Later, Rashid also informed the party about it at Zaman Park.

    He added that all the evidence will first be taken to Bilal’s family. He claimed that the PTI worker’s father was also offered money to stick to torture allegations.

    Naqvi asserted that the government will financially help the family.

    “I am accused of murder, is it that easy to level murder accusations on someone?” he asked, adding that the PTI is openly asking to file an FIR for the murder.

    Naqvi said he would have answered the accusations “in a different manner” had he not been in CM’s position.

    Addressing the presser, Punjab IG said that the people who brought Bilal to the hospital have been arrested and will be presented before a court.

    “Action will be taken if evidence of police torture is found,” the IG said.

    During the press briefing, confessional video statements of the two suspects, who are currently under police custody, were also played.

    On March 8, PTI workers were picked up by the police when a clash took place just before a scheduled election rally.

    Later, the party leadership claimed that Bilal was tortured and killed while in police custody. Bilal’s postmortem report, issued by the Mayo Hospital, says the victim suffered “massive blunt trauma”, while a fracture to his skull and subsequent bleeding has been cited as the cause of death. The report also noted damage to his liver, spleen and testes, which led to profuse bleeding.

    Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan announced the start of his party’s election campaign in Lahore on Tuesday. He said that the campaign will start with a rally from March 8 which is celebrated as International Women’s Day. In honour of the day, many women and marginalised people participate in Aurat March.

    Despite the announcement of the rally, people came out in huge numbers to participate in Aurat March. However, many of them were stuck in traffic for hours, especially on Mall road, Lahore where police were deployed for Khan’s rally.

    Later in the evening on Wednesday, Khan called off the party’s rally in Lahore in the wake of the Punjab government’s crackdown on participants following the imposition of Section 144 in the provincial capital.

    Now, the Punjab Home Department has also banned “all kinds of protests, demonstrations and sit-ins” in Lahore for seven days, citing the “overall security situation” in the wake of recent “wave of terrorism and threat alerts”.

    Surprisingly, it has been reported that the home department sent a letter to PTI leader Dr Yasmin Rashid that public gatherings are not advisable as women march is also going to take place. But clearly, they didn’t care.

    Chairman Khan went ahead as always, leaving us wondering that didn’t PTI female leaders tell Khan about Aurat March.

    Punjab Health Department announces 4,600 new positions

    Dr Yasmin Rashid, the provincial health minister, has announced the creation of 4,600 new positions in the Punjab Health Department. On Monday, she made this declaration while serving as the meeting’s chair in the Department of Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education.

    Participating in the meeting were Chief Planning Officer Abdul Haq Bhatti, the newly appointed Secretary of Health Dr Ahmad Javaid Qazi, Special Secretary M. Usman, Additional Secretaries Zahida Azhar, Shahida Farrukh, Dr Hafiz Shahid Latif, Quratul Ain, and Agha Nabil, as well as the respective Deputy Secretaries.

    The Provincial Health Minister received a briefing from Special Secretary M. Usman and associated supplementary secretaries. During the meeting, Dr Yasmin Rashid went over in detail the initiatives for the regional blood centre, mother and child hospitals, midwifery colleges, new doctor hires in the health department, and the sehat sahulat card.

    She stated that the Punjab Public Service Commission has received a request to fill 4600 new positions from the Department of Specialized Health and Medical Education. Punjabi mother and child hospitals are making rapid progress. The Punjab Health Department has seen a record amount of medical personnel hired by our government.

    According to the provincial health minister, we are making every effort to address the shortfall of physicians, nurses, and paramedics in Punjab’s government teaching hospitals. Through the sehat sahulat card, free medical facilities worth billions of rupees are offered.

    The health department has been given instructions to follow the procedure for hiring new medical personnel every day. According to her, preparations are being made for the local blood centre. The procedure for developing medical officers is being finished by the department, including the working papers.

    Dr Yasmin Rashid stated that Dr Ahmed Javed Qazi’s posting is a positive development. He is among the most diligent and trustworthy officers. She stated that Dr Qazi would endeavour to advance medical education.
