    Former Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Zaka Ashraf has said that the decision to remove Shaheen Shah Afridi from the captaincy was taken hastily, Shaheen should have been given a full chance as captain.

    While talking to the media in Lahore, Zaka Ashraf said, “There are good wishes for the world class batsman Babar Azam. Shahid Afridi had not given me any advice to make Rizwan the captain.”

    Talking about the appointment of coaches for the team, former chairman PCB, “The coaches should be local or foreign, only for the betterment of the team.”

    On January 19, 2024 Zaka Ashraf had resigned as Chairman Management Committee and Member Board of Governors.

    He said “I was working for the betterment of cricket, we can’t work like this. I am resigning from my post, now it depends on the Prime Minister who he nominates”.

    It should be noted that the notification for the appointment of the Chairman Management Committee was issued on July 5 last year for a period of 4 months.

    Later, in November last year, it was decided by the caretaker prime minister to extend the tenure of Chairman Management Committee Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Zaka Ashraf till the World Cup.

    Along with Pakistani players, the Chairman of the Management Committee of the Board Zaka Ashraf, and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Salman Naseer also attended the event.

    Australian players and board officials were also present. Zaka Ashraf met former test fast bowler Glenn McGrath and posed for pictures.

    Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said, “I hope that the Pakistan team will play good cricket in Sydney as well as in Melbourne”

    On the other hand, Pakistan captain Shan Masood said, “Players play the role of ambassador of the country”.

    Pakistan has started preparations for the third Test of the series against Australia, with players taking part in physical training at the Sydney Cricket Ground, practicing batting and bowling in net sessions.

    The final Test match of the series between Pakistan and Australia will be played in Sydney from January 3, with the Kangaroos having a decisive 2-0 lead in the series.

    An alleged audio of Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Management Committee Zaka Ashraf with an unknown woman has been leaked on social media, causing a furore. In the clip, he can allegedly be heard talking to an unknown woman, explaining the reason for removing Babar Azam from the captaincy.

    The conversation revealed that, “Babar Azam had formed a group of eight players, he was asked to remain the captain of the Test team.”

    The woman says that we are fans, we can see that the captain is supporting his friends. People close to him, like Shadab, have no place in the team.

    In response to the woman, Zaka Ashraf allegedly says, “Pakistan cricket is deteriorating because of this.” Another unknown person also speaks up and says that Hasan Ali was also like that.

    Meanwhile, Zaka Ashraf is heard saying that Hasan is also Babar’s friend. In response to Ashraf, the same unknown woman says no no Abu, Hasan was included in the team because Naseem Shah was not there.

    The head of PCB then allegedly observes that a man named Talha is the player’s agent. “He has controlled eight players of the national team, he has signed a contract with the players, he is such a smart guy that he has built a lot of relationships with the players’ families by going to the players’ houses, and the players can’t move without him. Talha Osmani I think I don’t know what his name is.”

    “I had told Babar Azam that you should keep the Test captaincy, I am thinking of removing you from the white ball. He replied, well, I will discuss this at home and then I will tell you the decision. Babar Azam called Talha and consulted him, and Talha advised him to leave everything.”

    Ashraf then allegedly says that his “plan B” was ready. “When Babar left the captaincy, I said to the other man, ‘Chal bhai, ab tu captain hai.”

    The unknown woman asks who is the captain, wondering if it is Shan Masood.

    Zaka Ashraf in reply says no, Shaheen Afridi is the captain in white ball. “Good, but wasn’t Rizwan better in the white ball,” asks the woman.

    Zak Ashraf says that he liked Rizwan but he was also deeply involved with Babar and Talha.

    The unknown lady opines that Abu, but Shaheen is under the control of Shahid Afridi, his father-in-law.

    “He interferes a lot,” the other unknown person says. “Dekho beta itna to chalta hai naa.” In response, the lady says, may Allah make it all better for Pakistan.

    When was the proposal to remove Babar from the captaincy considered by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB)? The inside story has been revealed by Abdul Majid Bhatti of Geo News.

    During the International Cricket Council (ICC) ODI World Cup held in India, Pakistan team performed poorly, while Babar Azam could not fulfill expectations.

    Abdul Majid Bhatti has written, “During the World Cup, the proposal was under consideration in the PCB circles that Babar Azam should step down from the leadership so that he could focus on his batting, but the final decision to remove him from the captaincy was not taken. PCB officials wanted to give him a break from captaincy due to his arbitrariness and defensive style.”

    At the time when Inzamam-ul-Haq was the chief selector, Babar Azam’s captaincy was under scrutiny, but after the departure of Inzamam-ul-Haq, Mickey Arthur and interim selectors Tauseef Ahmed, Wajahatullah Wasti and Wasim Haider considered a proposal to change the captain. However, Shan Masood was not among the names of replacements.

    Mickey Arthur and the national selectors formed a similar team to the Test team announced for the tour of Australia by Mohammad Hafeez, Wahab Riaz, and Shaan Masood. Haris Rauf was also included in this team but later withdrew from visiting Australia.

    Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Management Committee Zaka Ashraf is not eligible to contest the Board’s election due to not having a BA (Bachelor of Arts) degree, Urdupoint has reported.

    A BA degree has been made mandatory for PCB chairmanship, but sources say that Zaka Ashraf is not participating in the election as he does not have one. The caretaker federal government has recently approved a three-month extension in Ashraf’s tenure.

    Former Attorney General Shah Khawar was appointed Chief Election Commissioner of the Pakistan Cricket Board, and he is responsible for conducting the Pakistan Cricket Board elections before February 4, 2024.

    Urdupoint reported that Shah Khawar will be the chairman of the PCB and will be responsible for elections of the various regions. Shah Khawar is also the special prosecutor in the cipher case against former Prime Minister Imran Khan.

    Former Pakistani all-rounder Shahid Afridi has lashed out at the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Zaka Ashraf, while talking in program Zor Ka Jor on Samaa TV.

    Shahid Afridi criticized PCB management committee for mishandling cricket affairs amid the Men in Green’s below-par performance in the ongoing ICC World Cup 2023.

    Afridi believes that Ashraf should focus on his job rather than giving pointless statements.

    “Zaka Ashraf is the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board, not of a club. I’m surprised why is he calling owners of media houses about people who are talking against him,” Afridi said.

    “For God’s sake, you are the chairman, just deliver results and do your job. People are only talking about you because you are giving them this opportunity. Zaka Ashraf Sahab, stick to what you are supposed to do. The team is playing a World Cup and you are giving one statement after the other. Sometimes it is about Babar and sometimes it is about someone else,” he added.

    Social Media users took to X (formerly Twitter) and supported Shahid Afridi’s statement.

    Speaking on a TV show, former wicketkeeper Rashid Latif claimed that Babar Azam has been sending messages to the Chairman PCB Management Committee, the Chief Operating Officer, and the Director of International Cricket for two consecutive days, but all three of them are avoiding him.

    However, now in an interview on a private channel, PCB Management Committee Chairman Zaka Ashraf rejected Rashid Latif’s claims , stating, “The statement was wrong, which is regrettable, I think it is also part of an agenda.”

    Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Zaka Ashraf is likely to visit India to attend the Pakistan-India match on October 14 at Ahemadabad Stadium.

    According to PCB, an India visa has already been allotted for Zaka Ashraf and he may visit India in 2-3 days.
