The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has ordered on Wednesday that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) lawmaker Zartaj Gul’s name be removed from Exit Control List (ECL).
Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri heard a petition filed by Zartaj Gul to remove her name from ECL.
The Assistant Attorney General (AAG) and the PTI leader showed up before the court for the hearing.
The court ordered the AAG to remove the MNA’s name from the ECL and present a report within a week.
Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) has nominated Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Zartaj Gul as a parliamentary leader, Express News reported on Saturday.
Imran Khan approved the Gul’s name as the parliamentary leader.
Earlier, the party proposed the names of four leaders, including Zartaj Gul, Sahibzada Mehboob Sultan, Zain Qureshi, and Ahmed Chatha, for the appointment for the National Assembly.
Chairman PTI Barrister Gohar Khan also confirmed being informed about the nomination of Zartaj Gul as a parliamentary leader.
SIC’s chief, Hamid Raza, will inform the NA speaker about Gul’s nomination on Monday.

The National Assembly (NA) session on Thursday, chaired by speaker NA Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, ended with heated arguments and important parliamentary decisions.
Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, suspended Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid-e-Azam (PML-Q) leader Tariq Bashir Cheema for today’s parliamentary session after a heated argument took place between him and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Zartaj Gul.
The decision to suspend Cheema was taken to keep decorum and maintain parliamentary standards.
However, the House accepted the question raised by the NA speaker in this regard.
Earlier, the PTI-backed Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) claimed that Tariq Bahir Cheema used abusive words against Zartaj Gul during the parliamentary session.
Ayaz Sadiq also banned YouTubers, TikTokers, and media personnel from making videos in the corridors of the parliament to keep the environment peaceful.
The May 9 report from the caretaker government doesn’t just talk about the role of incarcerated Prime Minister Imran Khan in the riots but also reveals how multiple Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) leaders encouraged party workers to participate in violent protests.
The report revealed that on May 9, protests flared up at 300 locations in the country, going on to describe the role of every individual in the entire event.
“Upon Mr Khan’s arrest, PTI leaders promptly took to social media to spread lies about Mr Khan’s custody and encourage people to violence. It was widely alleged that Mr Khan was being tortured and that he was likely to be assassinated. The language employed was sensationalist, inflammatory and it consistently encouraged violence,” said the report presented before the present cabinet a few days back.
“Some instances of lies and incitement to violence by PTI leaders on that day are as follows. Hammad Azhar tweeted at 1437 hours to allege that Mr Khan was being tortured. Ms Zartaj expressed fear at 1510 hours that Mr Khan would be killed in custody. Murad Saeed tweeted at 1437 hours, 1444 hours and 1620 hours in which he, respectively, called PTI workers to gather at designated spots, not to let authorities torture and kill Mr Khan, and to make earth hell for those who consider themselves powerful. Farrukh Habib tweeted at 1651 hours asking people to lay down their lives but not let the police torture Mr Khan. Ali Amin Gandapur tweeted at 1712 hours telling workers it was now or never and to protect Khan with their lives. Ali Zaidi tweeted at 1623 hours and asked his workers to shut down the province (Sindh). Ms Anam Sheikh, Ms Shandana Gulzar Khan, Ms Kanwal Shauzab tweeted within a short span of each other encouraging people to protest at GHQ Rawalpindi. Senator Ejaz Chaudhary tweeted at 1428 hours calling all party workers to shut down the whole country. Faisal Javed tweeted at 1448 hours alleging Mr Khan was being tortured. Shahryar Afridi tweeted at 1536 hours implying that the traitors who had arrested Mr Khan had attacked the nation. Omar Malik tweeted a video message at 1555 hours encouraging people to march towards the residence of Corps Commander, Lahore.”
“Shortly after Mr Khan’s arrest, certain foreign based vloggers uploaded video messages making unsubstantiated allegations of torture and encouraged people to attack state institutions. Many of these vloggers incited general public to attack military installations. Most alarmingly, they tried to incite rebellion amongst armed forces and encouraged army officers and jawans to revolt against their command. These vloggers included Adil Raja, Haider Mehdi, Wajahat Khan, Moeed Pirzada and Shaheen Sehbai. Adil Raja and Haider Mehdi encouraged army officers to revolt,” said the report.
The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Saturday ordered a hearing on the request of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Zartaj Gul to remove her name from the Exit Control List (ECL) to allow her to go for Hajj.
There is no legal or moral justification to restrict Gul from travelling, Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri remarked in his order.
The court, in its order, stated that the Interior Secretary should appoint a senior officer who knows about the law to assist the court, and the authorised officer should be aware of the facts of the case in the next hearing along with the relevant records.
The state lawyer said during the hearing that the petitioner secured bail in multiple protest cases and was not absconding.
On April 18, an anti-terrorism court granted Zartaj interim bail in the May 9 case. After the lawyers presented their arguments, the judge granted interim bail to the PTI leader until May 10.
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) announced on Thursday that it will stage a protest on Sunday in solidarity with judges and for the release of PTI founder Imran Khan.
“The PTI is going to stage a rally for the freedom of the judiciary on the directives issued by the founder of the PTI,” party Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan said while talking to the media after a meeting with Imran Khan.
Earlier, Adiala jail authorities gave permission to 11 PTI leaders and the PTI’s legal team to visit Imran Khan in prison, including Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, Shoaib Shaheen, Sher Afzal Marwat, Faisal Javaid, Zartaj Gul and Amir Niazi.
“We will soon write a letter to the Chief Justice of Pakistan on behalf of the founder of PTI, while Imran Khan, in his message from the jail, has expressed complete solidarity with the cause of the judiciary’s freedom,” Barrister Gohar said.
This development comes after six judges of the IHC — Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kiyani, Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri, Justice Babar Sattar, Justice Sardar Ejaz Ishaq Khan, Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir, and Justice Saman Rafat Imtiaz — wrote to the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) to convene a judicial convention over the matter of the alleged interference of members of the executive, including operatives of intelligence agencies, in judicial affairs.
In today’s oath-taking ceremony at the National Assembly (NA), Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)-supported candidates appeared wearing Imran Khan masks. Newly-elected members took oath today at the inaugural ceremony of the 16th NA.
In solidarity with former Prime Minister Imran Khan, PTI leaders Ali Muhammad Khan, Sher Afzal Marwat, Zartaj Gul, and Shandana Gulzar, were wearing masks in today’s session at the lower house.
Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC), joined by independent candidates from PTI, began chanting slogans during the inaugural ceremony.
The session is being held today under Article 91(2) of the Constitution, with President Arif Alvi refusing to sign an earlier summary for summoning the session on the reported grounds of non-allocation of reserved seats to SIC.
The 2024 elections are approaching in Pakistan, and political parties have nominated candidates from different constituencies to contest the polls. The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has allotted election symbols to all the candidates. Female candidates are also taking part in the elections set to take place on February 8, 2024, SAMAA has reported.
After the 2018 general elections, there were 11.74 million more women than men on the voter rolls, bringing the overall number of registered voters in the country to 127 million from the previous 106 million.
Pakistan Muslim League- Nawaz (PML-N) has approved six general seat tickets for female candidates, including PML-N chief organiser Maryam Nawaz Sharif, Saira Afzal Tarar, Nosheen Iftikhar, Shazra Mansab Ali, Tehmina Doultana, and Syeda Shehrbanu Bukhari.
On the other hand, the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) allotted its ticket to Shazia Marri, Dr Sawera Prakash for PK-25 in Buner, Sajida Tabassum for PK-39 in Mansehra, Shaista Raza for PK-48 in Haripur, Dr Ghazala Atta for PK-49 in Swabi-I, Aneela Shahzad for PK-54 in Mardan. The PPP candidate Shazia Tehmas for NA-24 in Charsadda, Mehr Sultana for NA-38 in Karak, and Farzana Shireen for NA-39 in Bannu to contest the election for a National Assembly (NA) seat.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) allotted tickets to 21 women to take part in the upcoming general election.
In Punjab, former MNA Iman Tahir Sadiq from Attock, former MPA Seemabia Tahir from Rawalpindi, former adviser to Prime Minister Usman Dar from Sialkot Rehana Imtiaz Dar, former MNA from Lahore Alia Hamza Malik, former provincial minister Dr. Yasmin Rashid, Sidra Faisal from Kasur, Mehr Bano Qureshi daughter of Shah Mahmood Qureshi from Multan, Ayesha Nazir Jatt daughter of former MNA Nazir Jatt from Vahari, Mrs. Talat Basra wife of Shaukat Basra from Bahawalnagar, and former MNA Kanwal Shuzab from Bahawalpur will contest.
PTI allotted National Assembly tickets to Mrs. Qamar Javed Waraich from Rahim Yar Khan (RYK), Mrs. Humira Ahmad Khan from Muzaffargarh, Mrs. Anbar Majeed Niazi, wife of ex-MNA Majeed Niazi from Layyah, and former minister Zartaj Gul Wazir from Dera Ghazi Khan (D.I. Khan).
PTI also approved National Assembly tickets for Umbreen Malik from Khairpur, Hamida Masood Shah from Sanghar, Maherul Nasa Baloch from Tharparkar, Nazish Fatima Bhatti from Matiari, Rozeena Bhutto from Tando Ulyar, Shabana Nawab Bajarani from Dadu, and former MNA Shandana Gulzar from Peshawar in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa NA-30 Peshawar.
Former Bigg Boss Contestant and actor Kamaal Rashid Khan has shared his wish on Twitter that he wants to see politicians like Zartal Gul, the State Minister for Climate Change, in India.
Khan shared a video of the minister in which she claimed that her ruling party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) would sweep the next general elections by a two-thirds majority.
Kamaal Rashid praised her speaking ability and described her as clever. He expressed his opinion that such politicians should be in India.
In another tweet, he tagged Zartaj Gul and said, “You are a very clever and good speaker politician. Kaash Aapki Jaisi 2-4 politician India main Bhi Hoti (I wish there could be 2-4 politicians in India too)”.
Minister of State Zartaj Gul lashed out at anchorperson Kamran Shahid when he called the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) ‘pathetic’.
While speaking on Dunya News programme, ‘On The Front with Kamran Shahid’, Gul was told by Shahid that the government’s focus should be governance.
“From the past two to three years the governance of [PTI] has been pathetic. You [government] shouldn’t be worried about Nawaz Sharif or anything else,” said Shahid.
Gul while responding to the government being labelled as pathetic said, “You [Kamran Shahid] being the host [of the show] can not call my government pathetic.”
“How would you feel if I say that you are conducting your programme in a pathetic way. You need to increase the value of your show and give better analysis,” responded Gul.
“You cannot become a party, you are the host,” said Gul, adding, ” Senator Afnan Ullah or Major General (R) Ejaz Awan can say this to me, [being fellow panelists] discussing political analysis but as a host, you cannot.”
” You being the anchorperson, I will also say to you, that you are conducting your show in a pathetic way, improve your standard,” said Gul.
Shahid interjected Gul and said, “You can call my programme pathetic and give it minus zero numbers. I will give a warm welcome to your criticism and learn from the suggestions you give for my improvement.”
“I wouldn’t act like you or your prime minister and act tone-deaf towards issues and become rigid on one thing and make it a matter of my ego.”
“The government made things a matter of ego and took a U-turn from all the promises it made to the people,” said Shahid.
